Can we finally talk about the 'Stopping Mid-Air' sledgehammer animation?

I’ve tried to get into this game so many times, but the melee combat is just so stiff and robotic. The worst part is definitely the sledgehammer - if you miss a zombie, your character just stops the swing mid-air. There’s no weight, no momentum, nothing. It’s like hitting an invisible wall every single time you miss.

The zombie-killing part is the most important thing in a zombie game, and right now, it’s a total fun-killer. I recently found out this exact issue was raised by the community way back in 2019. I know the devs have said the animations are tied directly to hit-detection, but after years of 'Quality of Life' updates, it's frustrating that this core mechanic hasn't been touched.

I’m not expecting Dying Light level physics, but come on. Even a basic 'miss' animation that doesn't freeze your character in place would make a huge difference. The game looks great now, but the combat still feels like it’s stuck in Alpha. It’s hard to stay immersed when the main thing you do in the game feels this clunky.

Then, don't use the sledgehammer, the sledge suks anyway, it uses too much stamina and you're gonna need stamina to get away from the zombie when they get too close to hit you. If anything, use a baton or a knife, less stamina used, faster hits per sec. It may not do as much damage as the sledgehammer, but at least you're not winded after 2 or 4 swings. Unless you're fighting feral or green zombies, then you wanna go all in using ranged weapons.
