can someone explain abysmal framerates?

why the resource usage and framerates on this game are so abysmal?

seriously, I just upgraded from

Code:
FX8320
16GB DDR3
EVGA GTX1060SC 6GB
240gb SATA3 SSD
4TB 7200rpm HDD
1080p monitor
Average FPS: 35 with everything turned all of the way up WHILE ALSO RUNNING THE GAME AS A DEDICATED SERVER IN A SEPARATE INSTANCE
to

Code:
Ryzen 7 2700X
16GB DDR4-3600
EVGA RTX 2070 XC Ultra
500gb M.2 NVMe SSD
6TB 7200rpm HDD
1080p monitor
Average FPS: 18 with everything turned all of the way up while only running the game
I'm dying to know how I built a 5 year newer machine with the newest/best CPU in its class, the third best non-prosumer video card available currently, a SSD that's got a throughput of 2GB/Sec, and a nearly empty massive HDD, running the exact same game, same settings, less workload, (not even putting a 30% strain on the CPU, and GPU isn't getting much above 40%) and yet the framerate dropped from "ok" to abysmal. Assassins Creed Odyssey, which is widely accepted as atrociously unoptimized gets 240fps on this new machine, while 7dtd is getting a whopping 18?!? come on, please, tell me there's something I'm missing.

Try disabling

Vsync

and if that dont help

SSAO

My I74790k Gtx1060 16Gb SSD system went down from more or less stable 60 to 18 by Vsync

Btw: 2Tb/sec is maybe not really that the Description says. i guess you mean 2 GB/s

Yes, my bad, but, again, my issue is that the performance went down with all of the same settings....I absolutely could tune down, but, a crappier system shouldn’t be outperforming a much better one...

Vsync is a nice example of a option that can result in worse FPS with a better system.

SSAO is simply broken in my opinion (or i should say, with both GPU´s i had during i played this game)

Terrible optimization, that's all. It's been told few times that optimization is coming since experimental A17 release but I haven't seen much.

I reported technical issues and listed my end rig in this topic that can barely run the game in good conditions (100+ FPS, 1080p): https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?107183-A17-Mouse-Stutter-Issue

Another guy posted here about performance issues as well: https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?110257-full-support-resolution-2560-x-1440-g-sync

BTW, I'm still waiting for assistance in regards of problem I posted but I'm pretty sure none is looking at it.

Well your second post therehttps://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?107183-A17-Mouse-Stutter-Issue

told me that the issue is solved for the moment

Fixing such issues is part of the Beta that starts at the end of the year
I thought I did but mouse sensitivity is lightning speed in menus so I can't really play with that, I did mention it later in the thread.

Waiting for the beta is probably all I can do unless someone from the TFP is actually interested in helping earlier.

I do have a few more reports of this issue now, but haven't got any real data to work with yet outside of yours.

That's good to know! Hopefully you guys will get more, I really want to start playing A17 so bad :(
