Bug Report: M60 Auto Turret Fails to Shoot (Fixed only by Relogging)

Version
V3.0.0(b252)
Platform
Windows
I am submitting this report on behalf of the members of a bug-reporting server that I manage.

After using the M60 Auto Turret for a while, it completely stops shooting targets. Once this glitch happens, none of the following troubleshooting methods work:
  • Picking up and replacing the turret.
  • Swapping or reloading the ammo.
  • Rewiring the electricity (the power indicator light shows it is powered, but it still won't shoot).
[Temporary Workaround]The only way to temporarily fix this is to log out to the main menu and relog back into the world. After relogging, it works again for a short period, but eventually glitches out and freezes again.

[Expected Behavior]The M60 Auto Turret should continuously fire at targets as long as it has ammo, power, and valid targets, without requiring a server/world relog to function.

Reproduction Steps
Please refer to the attached video to see the reproduction steps and how the issue occurs.

Hello there,

we have been able to reproduce this issue with a lot of trail and error.
But we are still missing a real reproduction for this issue as it seems to happen very sporadic.

Would you be able to get a more consistent reproduction flow?

Best,
Revi

Thank you for your reply. I have conducted further testing regarding the M60 Auto Turret issue and recorded the results.

Based on my verification, I have found a precise reproduction method as well as a brand-new discovery regarding the inventory slots and multiple placements. Please see the detailed steps and information below, along with the attached video.

[Reproduction Steps & Flow]

  1. Place fuel and an engine inside the Generator Bank.
  2. Place the M60 Auto Turret.
  3. Wire the power using the Wire Tool.
  4. Note: The turret's startup sound does not play at this point.
  5. Insert ammo and lock it, but the turret still does not activate/shoot automatically.
  6. Interact with the turret's camera monitor; manual firing works perfectly fine.
  7. However, even after manual firing, it still fails to operate automatically.

[New Discovery: Toolbelt Slot & Multiple Placement Bug]

During my testing, I discovered a strange behavior related to the toolbelt slots and placing multiple turrets (the second half of the video demonstrates this):

  • When splitting the M60 Auto Turrets into two different slots on the toolbelt, the turret placed from one slot worked properly, but the turret placed from the other slot failed to function entirely.
  • This issue also triggers when placing a second turret; while the first one may function, the second one placed often fails to operate.
  • It appears that the functionality of the turret may depend heavily on which specific toolbelt slot it was equipped in before placement, or it glitches out when multiple units are placed in succession.
Please watch the video for a visual demonstration of these steps and the glitch. If there are any other specific tests or steps you would like me to try, please let me know. I am more than happy to cooperate and provide further assistance!
