Oh really? Umm........but it's not removed... So...
Gazz said that he means to remove it again...that its presence is the bug. I hope he’s kidding...
This is what I do, if I am using a tool that will bring the block to exactly 0 hp, I punch it once first, because as you said, you need to do at least 1 hp of overkill damage to get the bonus. I figured that out pretty fast when I started a17e b221.Nah, you still get the bonus. Its a bug that you dont get it if you exactly destroy the HPs instead of having 1HP+ overkill from the last strike I believe. So it you are whacking away at intervals of 10 with a stone axe, u usually exactly destroy the HPs instead of getting an overkill shot.
Workaround would be to punch the boulder/tree once before you start whacking away at it. Then you would get the bonus. (if you just started fresh with no perks and are doing 10 damage with a stone axe)
I think.. not sure.. that they plan to remove the bonus and adjust the normal yields higher, thats what the "bonus is the bug" comment was referring to.
I hope so too as mining is slow as it is, removing those bonus resources will make it take about twice as long to get the same amount. Its better now though than in previous builds of A17e. I like that I don't have to depend on power attacks for everything now, I still use them in combat usually on single zombies or if I need to crowd control.Gazz said that he means to remove it again...that its presence is the bug. I hope he’s kidding...

Thing is, Morloc, I have difficulty watching companies that should know better, should be doing better, make stupid mistakes simply because they aren't adopting even the simplest techniques that have been market tested over and over.
Corporations make these mistakes too and there's just no excuse.
Humans sit in meetings and discuss what should be done and [in these cases] no one has the common sense to check the Market research.
- WHY do mobile games draw three times more money than all other games combined?
- Do we have some of those elements?
- Can we incorporate some and maintain integrity?
Questions like these just aren't being asked.
Here's a perfect situation where TFP is making a rookie error and they have been around long enough to know better.
I'm just not letting it slide.
Like I said, I support TFP and I like A17 but this mistake highlights some REAL ignorance issues within the development staff.
Did any of these guys even go to University to study Business? Like.... even one?
You hated Witcher 3 then?I hope not. And that's probably why there game is soo good- they aren't college trash. FOLKS- send your kids to public school or college if you want to destroy them.
Everything you describe is why I hate AAA and mobile games lol.
I'm not a fan of Mobile games either and I certainly don't like companies taking advantage of addictive behaviour.I don't think I did. What part of mobile games is interesting? They all are just terrible lol (cept for angry birds, who doesn't like that one!)
And I haven't played witcher 3- so I cannot say-
but script forcing something to happen every 30 seconds sounds a little strange to me. I like a more organic simulation though.
And are they really AAA like EA and the others? Didn't they start more recently from humble indy beginnings? I am not fresh on their history- and I really do need to play those games someday.
Yeah, when I saw the say it was a bug I had to resist the urge to post "Bug, huh? Weird, I remember when it was brought up as a new feature..."I seem to recall that the "bonus" was a selling-point when we transitioned from the old all-the-resources-at-the-end of chopping a tree down, to the little-bit-per-chop system we have today. I like the "bonus" for finishing the job for lots of reasons.

So, are we totally ignoring that it's a bug that it's still there and it WILL be removed and the fact that it's there for now doesn't really matter? So, we are still totally ignoring that this feature wasn't removed, I see...
I'm not a fan of Mobile games either and I certainly don't like companies taking advantage of addictive behaviour.
I watched my sister [who's a recovering coke addict and alcoholic] come to visit and she couldn't go outside for a cigarette without playing Candy Crush.
When asked, she told me she was spending 300 dollars a month on the stupid game.
So yeah.. I've got personal reasons for not liking that aspect.
What I'm talking about is making things that are fun and enjoyable in gaming [that aren't unethical].
TFP removed a simple game mechanic that was giving a positive experience and replaced it with a negative one.
This is unacceptable.
They need to bring in a professional and have that person explain why certain things in games are simply non-optional in today's market.
Look I don't want to argue ethics because I suspect we'll agree on most of it.
I also have a Masters in Business and I know how this industry works.
If they want to continue to improve 7DTD there are just some things they have to accept.
Triggered Dopamine rushes in gaming is necessary for a successful product.
Same with:
- Movies
- Books
- Theme Parks
- Sporting events
- etc etc etc etc ....
Summary: Bonus resources no longer given when a resource is destroyed.Version: b221
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows
Game mode: SP (mp host unlisted)
Did you wipe old saves? Yes
Did you start a new game? Yes
Did you validate your files? Yes
Are you using any mods? Yes
EAC on or off ?
Status: NEW
Bug Description: Bonus resources no longer given when a resource is destroyed.
Reproduce steps: Chop down a tree with a stone axe. Each hit gives roughly 2 wood. Notice on the last hit, there is no more bonus wood (50-75 on larger trees on previous builds), only the same 2 wood that you got on every other hit.
Actual result: Chopping down trees or destroying full boulders no longer gives a bonus once destroying the whole resource.
Expected result: Bonus resources given on the final destruction blow, like previous builds. Nothing mentioned related to this on the patch notes.
These "bonus resources" are the bug and it's still occurring on my end. - Gazz
No big deal... we don't have to agree.Non negotiable? Not fun?
Unacceptable?
Degree?
Master?
*shrugs*
A lot of things you claim are non-negotiable totally and completely ARE! It is acceptable. Just not in your opinion it isn't. They made so much money they don't need to worry about anything and they can build the game they want to build. I like what they built! I prefer that to what AAA devs who are filled with degreed people have ever done! That's the overall perspective I'd like you people who call them ignorant to remember! (to be fair you called something they did ignorant- not saying yer terrible or anything =)
The mining change isn't a big deal. Now each swing isn't so worthless. It probably made some maths and other issues easier for them to deal with to change this too! I noticed for example- I had to constantly worry about using only weak hits until nearly destroyed then go for power to maximize the gain from each rock. I am glad that will be done away with apparently.
I am going to run away now cause your MASSIVE post count scares me! *HISSS!!!!* And I feel your next post will have such potent logic you might soundly defeat me!
Yeah i can recall that too and then the bonus intentionaly removed. Honestly still hate the harvest system, is the most generic crap ever and never made any sense to me why we needed it in the first place.I seem to recall that the "bonus" was a selling-point when we transitioned from the old all-the-resources-at-the-end of chopping a tree down, to the little-bit-per-chop system we have today. I like the "bonus" for finishing the job for lots of reasons.
