Boats?

Nothing crazy, but wondering what the chances are of us getting boats in the game? I'd roughly estimate you could reuse the existing vehicle code, give it a new model and then give it some sort of "only works ON water" and doesn't sink.

They have a prototype raft that faatal has said may be added at some point, but only if they get the chance to make water more interesting (water enemies, for example).

Right now, they wouldn't have much value because RWG doesn't have real rivers and the lakes are generally pretty small.  Unless it is just to travel around the ocean, it doesn't really help in RWG.  Of course, for those who use custom maps instead of RWG, it would be really nice.  But they don't do much to support anything that isn't vanilla, so they aren't likely to add them until or if they make changes to RWG.

With the current zombie behavior, this is not realistic. During a blood moon, you can simply stand on a boat in the middle of the lake and shoot at birds. Zombies walk along the bottom and cannot swim, so they simply cannot reach you.

I for one would love to see a map with a lot of water, islands, and large bridges. It would be an interesting way of reducing resources and building bases.

(Especially adding in things like sunken boats and such in place of treasure maps.)

But considering the game is set in like Arizona/New Mexico, that’s not likely to happen sadly.

Good points everyone - you are right, without water hazards, it would be an OP safe spot. And the water systems aren't that great, need rivers etc to really take advantage of this.
