Blood moons seems very disappointing

Look i get what they were trying to do. Make a new game for a new audience. But the game looks extreamly repetitive. And tbh that makes me sad cuz I want the Pimps to do well in making 7dtd a great game. But this should have been like a separate mode or dlc mode.

The new stuff in the game is pretty cool like the weapons, props and new zombies. And even though its going for a more silly aspects of 7dtd it just isn't really a great direction for the game.

The idea of a fast place mode with a 4v1 mode or a pve horde mode is great. However I just dont see this game lasting long. Maybe a week and people will probably move on

I know the pimps really wanna do something with twich from the looks of things like the twitch integration and drops and I understand but this game unless it gets alot more work done and stuff. The game is going to drop harder then falling from Distong tower.

The game looks fun at first and I played a bit at my brother's and its fun for like 1 game but then it gets very repetitive. The same thing over and over. And 7dtd has this but its more open. Not as open as it use to be still open. You can pick classes and change up your base style and ether to do quest or not.

But blood moons you can ether select your weapons style, the area you will hunker down. And if you play zombies you can control the types of zombies you spawn and how to kill people.

WARNING: Many reviews of 7 Days Blood Moons are from people who played very little of the game (some are like only 0.5 hours played) so it still doesn't give a good indication. How can you judge a game like that in 30 minute? I guess they were expecting something completely different.
It's almost like some people only bought the game to give it a bad review? Insane! 😁
We should also remember that it's in early access so, things will get improved later on.

A lot of people are going to buy it thinking it's going to be like this game, only to realize it's very different and then some (perhaps most) will end up not liking it and give it a bad review. I already know that it isn't a game I'll like, so I won't even bother trying it, but I've seen the info about the game here, so I know what it is. Many people just see it and want another 7D2D game and don't look to see that it's a different kind of game. I think most people who will like the game will be people who haven't ever played 7D2D, though that's just my guess. There will of course be some overlap of people who like both games.

With so many videos and streams on Twitch, people should have done their research before buying the game, only to give it a thumb's down after playing for 30 minutes.

I have loved games that didn´t look like they are for me after research and i hated games that i was hyped for after the research. VIdeos and Articles can´t tell you the whole truth.

They have a problem with marketing this. No reactions when they post stuff about this. This should be marketed to the Dead by Daylight crowd but it looks like they try to sell this to 7 days players which are not the target audience.

People also can't grasp the fact that it isn't really a TFP game. Most people immediately assume TFP made it.

I played the closed test for it. It is janky and feels a bit odd to me. Plus it just really isn't my type of game. I played a decent bit of DBD back in the day and got my fill of that sort of game then. If I had enough friends who bought it to only hop on and run private matches I might would play it.

Checked steam charts and shows so far they peaked at 183 players, with around 90 on at the moment. And with the current reception, it doesn't look super great. Seems a lot of the issues that were around during closed tests are still there now. But hey, DBD was a menu simulator when I first got it and they turned it around, so I guess there's still time. Just hope it currently bombing doesn't make TFP have to offer more manpower to get it moving.

I tried it for the first time today. As a seasoned 7 Days to Die player it was surreal and jarring to have most containers that I’m trained to expect to be lootable just be decorations instead.

I can see the potential though. I just have to wrap my head around the new normal this game presents. I couldn’t figure out how to do anything other than loot and attack so gameplay was pretty limited. I played vs an AI zombie master and am pleased that at the bare minimum this game seems to offer a version of tha classic Horde Mode I remember fondly.

I’m willing to learn and adapt and stick with it to give it a fair shake but not everyone will be as patient. Apparently a hotfix is coming to add a tutorial that wasn’t finished in time for launch. That will help a lot.

I tried it out today, it was a buggy mess. I can see what they were going for but the frustration of having to back out of the game and redo the lobby from a bug far out weighs any joy from the game. Maybe one day it'll be good but that feels like it'll take another 2 years

I'm actually here looking for a way to get a refund. I gave it a 4hour try (half of which was actual gameplay) hoping to get something out of it but now that exceeds the refund time on steam so I'm being punished for giving it a proper try.

If anyone knows how I could go about requesting a refund directly that would be a huge help.

TFP didn't make the game, so this wouldn't be where you would be able to get any possible help. You'll need to ask iLLOCGIKA. But you bought the game from Steam, so it's not very likely you'll have much chance of getting any refund from anyone other than Steam. It's a good idea if you're not sure you want a game to keep a close eye on the refund time window with Steam games and not go over it.

TFP published the game. Pretty sure the publishers are the ones who handle the sales and not the developers. I thought I would want it and was forced to get it because they didn't give their creators spare keys. It kinda sucks to drop out not even a third of the way into a scheduled stream to refund it. I hit my frustration limit after 3hrs and that's when I left the stream, at least I didn't make a huff live. feigned tiredness to slip out but still left early.

I think it was an odd but interesting idea, but it doesn't seem to click with the 7 Days audience.
Also, it's apparently pretty buggy and it looks like it's mainly what has driven curious people away.

I 100% completely agree that it fails to resonate with the 7d2d community so, what is the reason for this disconnect?
The answer is straight forward...
For myself and countless players who have engaged in 7 Days to Die PvP over the past ten years,
the new bloodmoons game feels like a significant betrayal and one big slap in th face.
How can anyone possibly support a new PvP 7 Days to Die game when the PvP elements in your existing game have yet to be adequately addressed?
but yeah its going fail miserably no need for people to even discuss that game here anymore.
the game is already dead.

Definitely a flop with a biiig F.
Maybe there were some resources that got freed now towards 7dtd. It's steadily fading and needs a proper update asap.

I played the playtest and while I could see some potential, it also left me with serious doubts about it's success.

Fundamentally it's a more polished and standalone version of something that we already had in earlier versions of 7dtd. We had a separate game mode with hordes every night, airdrops and prepare day time.

It was removed some time ago either because more players cared more about the actual game than the side mode or it became redundant since we have game options that can be used to setup basically the same thing.

The first problems I encountered were first right at the menu I couldn't even set my monitors resolution, the drop down stopped listing resolutions past 1440p. I had to use steam launch arguments to set it.

The next issues were matchmaking it was almost impossible to get into a game. To be fair that was a play test , but judging by the player count on release most people will have a similar experience.

Once in a game there were a couple bugs that broke the experience. Some zombies under control of a player went invisible and couldn't be killed with weapons, making the experience completely broken.

Similar issue happened with hit boxes sometimes even tho you "hit" them 100% it won't register damage on them.

Once you waited 10-30 minutes for a 10-15 minute game and played it kicks everyone out of the lobby forcing everyone to que again even if you're in a party.

Push to talk is also defaulted to disabled, so you will have to suffer or mute every player with mom vacuuming in the background or something. I get why it's a co-op game but no game should ever leave people's mics open by default. If people want to communicate they will do so. forcing it just means the people that don't now contribute negative noise to the team, sometimes unknowingly.

This is all before we even get to the actual game. I found the building to be very cumbersome it requires several steps making it difficult to do quickly. It's possible with some time you could get used to it and more proficient but with player count and matchmaking I doubt many people will find out.

It also set a very different tone to the original game which I feel puts lots of players off. 7dtd has never really had a tone to it, it was always a blank canvas players filled in themselves. Bloodmoon sets a ton which might not aline with the tone every player associates with 7dtd.

I don't think the cell shading was the right move either. 7dtd has never presented itself that way before. It would be fine if it wasn't trying to be associated with 7dtd then it could be free to set it's own tone and style but it's not.

It can be a fun casual pickup game but with it's issues and lack of players it's unfortunately doa. I couldn't tell you what should be done about it, only speculate on potential options.

They could go the no man's sky route and fix it up over time. That means more time, resources and money with no guarantee it would pay off. And it only worked for nms because people wanted the vision of that game, I don't see that type of interest for 7dbm.

Other option would be to just let it die, take notes on lessons learned and move on. I don't think this option resonates with players in general it shows the devs never cared anyway so why should the players.

So I don't really know what would be the best move they're kinda dammed if the do, dammed if they don't. TFP have proven they will listen to player feed back and improve when it effects their bottom line so hopefully they'll be able to come up with a solution for this situation.

Don't forget that the game is in early access. It isn't a finished game and likely has at least a few years of work on it before it will be finished. There are likely to be a lot of things that will get changed, balanced, fixed, etc. between now and then. If people don't like playing unfinished games and dealing with those kinds of problems, then it would be better to stay away from early access games. Wait until it's finished and then try it and see what you think.

Sadly, some bad reviews are caused by people buying the game for one reason only, to give a bad review and thumb's down, then get a refund... They actually buy the game to give a thumb's down; just because some people are unhappy that TFP made this instead of finishing 7 Days to Die.
iLLOGIKA studio is making 7 Days Blood Moons and so many people still don't know or don't care... How awful!!!
I feel really bad for iLLOGIKA and TFPs as I'm sure they worked very hard to get this out.

I played my first match with randos on the internet and...it was quite a bit of fun. I bought the game for my brother and we are going to try it together this weekend so we can trade off trying out zombie master.

It should be remembered that the exact same comments of "DOA", and "dumpster fire", and "garbage", and "fading" were all made by small-minded haters about 7 Days to Die in 2013 and 2014. People who thought they knew something scoffed at the stupid little Minecraft clone and predicted it's demise. Our whole "Doom and Gloom" rule came about because there were so many trolls disrupting and derailing threads with their predictions that the game was going to fail. They were wrong.

Time will tell if these people are wrong as well.

It just needs more really. Both games tbh

That may well be, but it's a completely different game by different developers. Just because 7DTD has done well doesn't mean everything that comes after will be gold. Even if it was the exact same team, developers are people like the rest of us they will make mistakes and execute poor ideas just as often as good ones.

There's no need to get defensive. No one here as far as I can see is bashing the game or either developers. Everything I see in this thread has been valid concerns, suggestions and respectful feedback. As far as gamer behaviour goes that's ideal for the Devs. No one is getting irrationality angry or disrespectful. Anyone offering concerns and feedback only wants the game to succeed.

So lumping in everyone who uses an acronym to accurately describe the current reality that doesn't align with your views and resorting to name calling "small minded" to justify disregarding valid concerns isn't helpful. The game arrived, it currently has 31 players playing globally, which is probably how many it had when streamers were in closed playtest. It is functionally dead on arrival. Doesn't mean it will always be dead but that is how it is currently.

The only way it can succeed is recognising reality and pointing to things to improve. Looking away and burying our heads in the sand hoping one day we can look back and have everything magically better isn't going to solve anything.
