PC Biome surface needs to transition to stone sooner

I want to point out an observation while playing on the pvp server, and suggest that the surface material in biomes need to transition to stone much sooner.

For example the snow biome will have snow from the surface to roughly 15-20 blocks deep when really it should be 1-3 blocks deep. The desert biome is basically sand all the way to bedrock most of the time. The other regular biomes are the clay dirt also for a hood 15-25 blocks before transitioning to stone.

Reason I mention this is that for zombies, and players alike it is really easy to dig out whole sections of prefab buildings and even dig under a base completely to cause it to collapse.

Ideally I would like to see stone be a tougher material, maybe change it from 500 to 800 durability, and add a transition material between stone and dirt/sand/snow. Maybe call it loose stone or something so you don't need to add anymore materials. Gravel is good where it is as an ore indicator material.

The snow biome should transition from snow to clay soil as well very quickly, finding clay in a snow area is impossible currently when it should be relatively easy to do in any biome.

Also hopefully underground poi's, tunnels, caves, etc make it back in soon.

Anyways those are my thoughts, feel free to chime in.

I've only ever dug in the forest biome, but it's only 5-7 blocks down before I get to stone. (It used to be standard, I thought, but seems to be slightly variable in A17. Maybe I'm just mis-remembering. Definitely not 15-25.)

If you see a 15 block deep snow layer then it's either a bug (and I'd like to see repro steps) or you have modded biomes.xml.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.

Sounds like a modded RWG file.

It was from 2 updates ago and maybe it wasn't 15 blocks but it could easily have been 10 or so.

Either way it should be much less considering how easy snow is to destroy.

I agree in general, especially with desert. It's literally nothing but sand and ores. I flunked geology, but I'm pretty sure you can find stone in every part of the world.
