Biome Progression Related

I have almost 4k hours in this game. It's my favorite game of all time. Something I've been thinking about, especially with the way biome progression is going is the amount of unutilized space in the world. Even on a small map. I imagine this is why you can't have zombies everywhere like in the trailer due to performance issues. I am probably wrong about map size being the reason but this is the dream forum. So my dream would be to limit each biome to 1k size and make each biome a different instance that you could travel back and forth to at your leisure. So for example, the forest would be a few small neighborhood/towns like now with some wilderness poi's and such, and a trader. Burnt forest would have a big city and a few neighborhoods, etc. When you RWG at the start it would take care of all of that.

I don't think it would detract from the  way the current game feels other than a loading screen to switch biomes. Immersion breaking? Maybe. No more than literally walking 2 steps from desert to snow.

Map size has little impact on performance until you get to the sizes that are not officially supported because only a small part of the map is loaded at a time.  And having to load instances constantly wouldn't be very enjoyable.  It would also prevent you from using custom maps that split towns across more than one biome and greatly limit your control over creating custom maps with specific biome layouts that wouldn't translate well into instances (snow on mountaintops for example).  Yes, those aren't RWG but you are talking about something that would affect all maps, not just RWG.
