PC Beta or Final Release Wants

So... I'm curious. If there was one thing, that's not been announced as part of the original Kickstarter, that you'd like to see in the final release, what would it be?

For me, it's colonies that I can build for, grow, protect, raid, trade with, work with, lead (task management), etc.

What about you?

I want there to be no more surprise changes in development direction (except to undo this sudden fallout fanboyism).

I once ♥♥♥♥posted about them suddenly going fortnite (and claim it was their original vision)) with game but I honestly don't think it's unlikely that they would chase something they think is popular for more impulse buys.

Colonies will bring their own problems, as will bandits. Its already hard to get enough zs on screen so adding bandits/npcs isnt going to help the situation at all unless a new way is found to up the amount of onscreen activity.

Yes, it's getting to be the main thing.

I used to look forward to the new alpha and new interesting innovations.

Now i'd like it all to be over before it all gets bogged down in heresy.

About the colony.

I agree that in the imagination it looks exciting.

But. How can you build gameplay around this? how to create problems that justify the appearance of this? What should the opponents do that you could "protect" these colonies?

Each game feature must be integrated into the gameplay.

I wish for an option of clearing POIs permanently. I know, not gonna happen due to plans going a different way, but i still hope for it... Or at least a way to set this when creating/loading world.

By allowing the colonists to perform tasks that the player otherwise would. So, for example, you could have:

1. Farmer - assigned a plot they would regularly harvest whatever was planted there.

2. Crafter - assigned a station they could "watch over" anything ordered in the crafting stations and deliver it to assigned crates.

3. Doctor - would attempt to heal/cure any colonists hurt or infected.

4. Guard - would statically guard certain points and/or walk assigned patrols.

5. Builder - would build structures to blueprints. Would repair structures needing it.

6. Miner - would ride out to selected points and mine for selected materials (lead, shale, nitrate etc). Could be accompanied by guards, could even use a designated vehicle.

7. Cook - would cook meals as required (say, to certain stock levels).

Each colonist would need to be, consequently, clothed, fed, guarded, housed.

Now, perhaps even none of this is feasible, or even possible, but if we're talking colonies, this would, I think, make for very compelling late-game game play.

delicious ideas.

for me, on top of my head, I'd like a more agile inventory management. It feels awful slow to move items about, from the backpack to the item belt.

edit: heh my wish is horribly puny compared to your ideas.

^Its all possible. TFP just have to want to do it.

There are already a number of mods from A16/17 that have most of those mechanics implemented to some degree.

wish granted: shift+click ^^.
I just found out.

But with that, I wish for a holster weapon/item hotkey. I hate running around with an axe, or club, like a doofus. Let me run and interact with my hands by my side.

True, (to a degree at least), and I've played with some of them, and look forward to doing more so once the game goes Gold.

Not sure I'm keen on the idea of the game turning into a colonist management game, aka state of decay 2.

Saying that a simpler version a bit like conan exiles where you assign colonists to workstations to give bonus's or extra recipes would work okay.

And the thing the game needs most for the final stretch? Better mod integration - steam workshop etc

Keep the base game as open and flexible as possible but make it easier for people to add and share game mods/maps/prefabs.

If you look at the survival games that have lived on - Minecraft/terraria its the mod seen which keeps them alive.

I agree with that.

Mods allow players to play their way and choose the difficulty themselves. If you look at the range of player types in 7 Days to die, almost everything is there. Accordingly, it is hardly feasible to satisfy all player types with one game.

Mods are also a good foundation for long-term development as some mods might find their way into the main game when they are popular.

I am hoping FP will add mod integration soon, current implementation is problematic. I am happy with a17, I think that devs are focusing on what they should and did a huge leap towards a beta from a16.4 to a17. But this game is not complete (nor it should be, given the alpha status) and mods are adding a lot into the game that many players would want and FP will likely focus later on (like more weapons, zombies, zombie abilities, npcs, dungeons, bosses, more crafting, farming). A agree with this approach, but I would like those things now :D and mods are the way to go ... it is what it is and this game has awesome modders.

With current implementation we cant mod our a17 fresh server, we would lose too many players. As soon as we will have bigger community around our server and most of players on discord we are gonna add some mods, hopefully by (before) then FP will implement some better mod integration and automatic mod download, which would revive the game for a lot of us (players that have too many hours in this epic game and not much to do anymore, well, I am almost hoping for a wipe at this point and I hate wipes, it would be still the same but with more challenge up to a certain lvl).
