PC Best way to spend the Blood Moon night and live

I'm sure some of you might not accept this solution, but i find it hilarious and also quite interesting. So take it with as much irony, as it is currently valid ;)

THE ONE AND ONLY SOLUTION FOR BLOOD MOON HORDE IS... Hop onto your bicycle and ride as fast as possible!

PROS:

1. With even minimal upgrades to your stamina (Rule 1 Cardio) you can ride indefinitely!

2. You are faster than any zombie!

3. You can ram through zombies! Several rams and regular Zs will fall dead! Even Cops will be pushed towards exploding! Simply watch them fly!

4. Your base will be safe as you show zombies the middle finger, the other hand steering the bicycle on these beautiful roads!

5. If hit a couple times, speed up to ride a bit further from the enemies and open inventory, there you can use items as usual, even bandages!

CONS:

1. Need lots of materials, as well as a workbench and skills to craft the bicycle parts and the bicycle.

2. Small rocks, wood trunks, garbage and anything you can ram could decrease bicycle HP.

3. Look out for big obstacles like trees, cars, cacti or boulders - they will stop you in your tracks!

4. Don't get slowed down to a group, they still can hit you!

5. Irradiated zombies regenerate faster than you could damage them, making them only a constant target for ramming.

6. Cop zombies can still hit you with their puke! They will sometimes even try when thrown into the air, so look out!

7. MOST IMPORTANTLY! No XP from killing zombies on a bike...

Valid strategy later on in the game when you do find appropriate materials and have the skills. As Blood Moon is increasingly too powerful, you can simply ride along till morning and get XP from regular zombies (no loot so what's the difference?). Even if it's going to be patched out somehow, i'm sure only riding along will still be valid.

I'd love to hear your opinions on the matter!

Now that you said that they will nerf the bicycle or remove it completely. Actually they will remove it. Because what you are saying is an exploit and that's a no-no. Come to think of it, they should turn off running, because during the day on default, zombies can't run so you can completely exploit that too and it needs to go. I see no other way. Tsk-tisk-tisk...

rofl :D

Considering some people would simply want to live through the blood moon hordes, this can work as a safety. Even in A16 if you hopped onto your minibike you could run away (no ramming the zombies sadly). In A17 you can ride through most ground objects with only minimum durability loss for the bicycle, while hitting zombies doesn't decrease it.

Tested this out and had just like 8 zombies circling me, but imagine 30 or something running after you... And who says you can't fight back? Ride some way, dismount, shoot them with your guns, mount, ride some way... Considering that A17 maps have fairly similar road structures in all RWG, it'll be easy...

Well, if that's true, they should certainly nerf the bicycle. Obviously, no applying bandages or ramming zombies without falling off the bike. Also, if you crash the bike? Break a leg, maybe even die, even at low speed.

I only see that as an exploit if there is zero risk to it. So ramming into zombies should have a risk of you being dismounted or your bike getting damaged...etc

What if I ride around and don't ram zombies?

I wouldn't consider this an exploit, just a game mechanic. Your choice if you want to run instead of taking on the z's. Since you aren't gaining anything by doing this, its just an avoidance tactic.

It's funny how everything you could do in a16 to "exploit" the game to reduce any danger from a horde night is still in the game, but the one thing that added a whole huge third dimension to the game (bunker building) is now pointless.

A god mode exploit is your choice as well and it's about avoiding damage. Really, some common sense - anything that trivializes content is more or less an exploit. If there was a risk to it like there is with fighting the horde, making it a viable choice, it wouldn't trivialize it.

It should be a game mechanic then that they can't sense you through 150 ft of solid rock.

It shouldn't be a game mechanic

- that they can break reinforced wooden walls with their flesh and bone limbs.

- that they can all of a sudden run because the sun goes down.

It should be that you can loot their clothes and possessions, and dismember them.

I could go on forever.

Funny... when it's in defence of a17 it's a mechanic. If it's in a16 it's an exploit. Weird how things work nowadays.

As if there aren't going to be 20 new exploits to do a lot of new crazy stuff in a17... There will always be exploits especially the more freedom the player has. But freedom is frowned upon nowadays. In the end the game is just going to be about sitting on a chair, one box to the left to loot once a week, one fridge to the right to loot for food and drink until that respawns, randomly during the week a few zombies will come from the front that you can hit and on horde night there will be three zombies. There, no more so called exploits! I solved all problems in one minute here. I should get an award!

You are confusing posts written by fans with motives by TFP themselves. TFP didn’t want to stop people from building underground. They wanted to increase the challenge of building underground.

Just because some other customers wrote that people should be stopped from going underground doesn’t mean they spoke for TFP.

TFP simply is finishing their game and making sure every biome has threats and challenges. The Forest biome has threats but you can still play there and it isn’t pointless. The underworld now has threats and it also is neither impossible to play in or pointless.

Not saying your wrong about how you feel about the change. You’re just wrong about why the change happened. Carry on. :)

A sensible answer.

I would say there would have to be some sort of risk involved. It should be possible to do but something could go horribly wrong. Then my heart is beating and I’m being vigilant the whole time. Like make vultures dive bomb you from ahead and you have to dodge them.

If it’s an auto win button with zero risk then it’s towards the exploit end of the spectrum.

Guys guys...you are forgetting the strongest exploit yet. Your healthy pair of legs. You can run faster than any zombie. You can even gain some distance and w8 a few sec for stamina to regen (while collecting trash and feathers around). And then keep running. I have ignored 2 bloodmoons this way already. And only with 1 level of cardio.

There is, because you can always get injured on a vehicle (unless that got screwed up, I know it's intended but I haven't tried it in a17 as I don't have any vehicles yet). So no matter what, even in good conditions, there is some risk in a vehicle. It's actually been my go-to in a16 for a long time, because the BM can be very frustrating at times (and yes, I've gotten picked off while using this tactic, because it's impossible to resist stopping for deer/boar...)

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

That video is hysterical!!!

I did get damaged quite a bit when being careless on the bike, so it's not like i'm invincible. Additionally, if you ran over rocks or small objects the durability goes down so i presume when it hits 0 the bike is destroyed. The same when hitting cars, cacti, trees, etc. Add to that the jumping Zs (haven't encountered any) and the puking cops.

So yeah, there are many things to look out for. The running tactic is valid also, as i have outran the 14th day horde a bit quite easily (harder to do with the dogs that spawn). Still, the bike is faster in my opinion.

Of course. Rule 1...

Neither of the "running" options are completely without risk so... what's the problem?
