PC Bedrock height discussion.

Hi all.

Till the A17 a bedrock level was on -57m below the surface. Now, in A17 a bedrock level was raised to +3m level.

Why did you do it? To make digging down easier for zombies? The average height of a surface is +43m now, zombies should dig 43m-3m=40m. Before A17 the average ground lvl was at +37m point. The difference is 37m-(-57m)=94m. There is more than 2 times difference in the average depth of digging.

Is it possible to return -57m bedrock lvl, or make it deeper than +3m?

Lower terrain allows for higher mountains tho..

IMO they should just increase the overall max height of the terrain. Like all the voxel games after Minecraft did.

Personally I think they did it to give zombies more area where you are within detection range depth wise. Which just sends me off to find an area to build my base on that's in the +50 range. There I build or convert a POI to my standard above ground horde base with underground storage/crafting/mining base. I'm not a fan of the shallow new world.

Afaik the average depth was ~60m in a16.

The numbering has been changed in A17. The world height is still ~252m and the lowest 3 layers still consist of bedrock (Thus, -60m and +0m are the lowest terrain layers in A16 and A17, respectively). So you cannot go down to -57m. However, it may be possible to raise the surface of the terrain to +91m. Probably just hairsplitting, I know.^^

It also gives more airspace to use a gyrocopter in, which is most likely the reason for the change.

Just use the modded gyrocopter, and then no problem...

Hmmm... Are you counting from the water level or simply ground? I would go with saying that it's simply a label change, but with more varied terrain the ground can be higher or lower. Additionally, i remember reading somewhere about the possibility to change the water level in the XMLs, which makes me think it may also have been changed.
