Bag missing after death

I died on the boat that explodes at the fishing place. I hit something and it just started falling apart and blew up. I was on the bottom when I actually died and I saw my bag fall off. So I respawn and go back and my bag is there on the map and on my HUD, but it's nowhere to be found. I dug around for a while underwater. Basically for half a day in game. Restarted the game, same thing. Then turned on god mode and turned clipping off and flew around. Can't find it anywhere. I just finished looting that whole place except the underground part. Is there any hope of finding it or is it just gone?

If you look at your log from that playthrough, it should have recorded the coordinates for your backpack. It is entirely possible that it did glitch and just fall through the map though. That is a known bug that we've been working on fixing.

OK, how can I find that? I'm on linux so folders might be different but I can probably find it if I know what I'm looking for.

Sticky thread that tells you to read it before posting has the common locations for the different OS'es.

<gamefolder>/7DaysToDie_Data/output_log__<DATETIME>.txt

You should be able to open the gamefolder through the program settings in Steam.

I meant more what am I looking for in the file, sorry. I think I found it though. It looks like the depth changed, or I just don't what I'm looking at. I don't know how to get to a specific height but I dug plenty far to know it's not either of those places.

OnDestroy doesn't sound good. Maybe the backpack spawned and then was hit by a secondary explosion on the boat. The location is the three numbers in parenthesis, (x,y,z), with y being the height and (0,0,0) being rock bottom in the center of the map. 57 seems quite possible as a value for ground level.

If you look at the map, your own location is printed there somewhere.
