Auto run. Quality of Life.

greetings, I want to offer a small function that has been missing for a very long time. Auto run on a hot button, like in pubg or skyrim. This is very useful in the early stages when you are running 3 km to a friend or when you are running home from a quest. This function is also useful for people who want to quickly go put the kettle on or pour water.

I have a question about this. I have read a lot of concern about no more auto run.

Does the keyboard button work differently than the button on the controller. What I mean is

when I am in motion and tap the button I can continuously run  until I stop, by myself, or I hit

an obstacle.

For me it doesn't function as it did before, which was a single press while in motion and I ran.

Now it is a tap that allows me to sprint dodge, hold that allows me to short sprint, and a sort of

quick offset tap while holding my forward motion to run until I'm exhausted.

I never tried it on keyboard now I am curious to try. My controller though programmable has not been.

Or are people talking about every press is run only?

I just tested it with my keyboard, try this and tell me what happens.

Start moving forward and tap the shift key and release.

They mean moving without touching a key, not specifically sprinting.  The game now has a sprint lock.  It does not have an auto run.  Two different things, but can easily get mixed up as they sound the same and may even be used interchangeably by people.  Auto run would let you click a key or button to start moving forward and then you can stop touching the keyboard, mouse, controller, etc. and you'll continue to move forward.  With sprint lock, you still have to hold the forward key/button.  You just don't have to also hold the sprint key/button.
