PC Anyone having better luck with RWG in B233?

Anyone having better luck with RWG in B233? I've restarted 3 times, and then previewed multiple worlds, only to get almost entirely wasteland generation. It's really not fun to get jumped by zombie dogs right off the start, and then slowly get eaten away by vultures.

If anyone has found any good seeds so far, I'd love to know.

That's what I'm seeing too.

We went from No wasteland to this mess.

Ugh... TFP! What are you doing to RWG??

I generated a world and so far I have found zero wasteland. I started in a forest not far north of desert, and I have a decent amount (read: too much for my liking) burnt forest. Aside from a lot of POIs showing up on these 3-4 block high Pillars Of Gaia, it seems to have built something reasonable. I think the seed might have been "hurrdurr231" or "hurrdurr233".

If we were always going to go back to this garbage random gen, why remove the forest and plains biome. 4 biomes is NOT enough to sustain generating maps like this. NO ONE wants huge patches of wasteland and burnt forest on their maps. I rather enjoyed the patchy burnt areas in the forest from before.

Be careful what you wish for.....

Isn't burnt and wasteland "subbiomes" now? I thought the "main" biomes were just Snow, Forest, and Desert? And yes, I do think we should have kept at the least the "boring" plains. For all that it had no unique features, it was itself unique.

I agree they should have kept the other 2 biomes or at least left them in the code to be able to mod them in. But RANDOM World Generator should be guess what? RANDOM. I think this is a step in the right direction. They just need to make everything bigger including the biomes and map itself.

I spawned on a forest/wasteland edge. Forest to the north, wasteland and burnt forest to the south. The trader is 4.9km to my southwest, what a trek!

But so far (day 1) it's awesome!

I should have known that we have to use Russian words to get what we want (profanity, no less). Have the Russians hacked everything?!

I didn't start a new world with 233 but did with 231. Personally I'd like to think I've got an understanding why RWG causes so many issues. I've been a game dev in the past (admittedly some time ago) and had to generate random maps - although not the size TFP are working on. It was surprisingly difficult to get a tightly created "real" map at the same time adhering to all the requirements that stop that map from being broken.

The only real issues I have just now are the buildings not sitting on flat land (lending to some just auto-collapsing next to you and taking about 75% of your FPS with it) and that the biomes themselves shouldn't be quite so small and mixed in the way they are. You really shouldn't have snow and desert next to each other.
