Anybody find a 9mm in a toilet?

Yeah, that said not as often. But they are out there. Frustratingly I found one after I'd already made a better one.

As a side note I hear the toilet pistol sometimes referred to as an illogical find. Yet the USA has, erm "fairly" liberal gun laws.

I found it interesting to speak to Americans while I was in their country and establish to stop children finding guns and killing themselves, each other or anyone else for that matter guns are often hidden wrapped in plastic in toilet cisterns. Which makes sense.

No idea if its true but for that reason toilet pistols have always made utter sense to me >.>

It's inspired by the Godfather. Michael Corleone used a gun stashed in a men's room toilet to shoot the bad guys. That's when he crossed over to the Dark Side.

Interesting, wonder if the parents got that idea from the godfather or the other way around, as it was plain that at least two parents I spoke to actually hid guns in the cistern for safety reasons - I mean safety as a European - having no gun in the house with your children kinda makes more sense, but lets not open that can of worms and be thankful for the post apocalyptic bonanza ^.^

Not really true. And also potentially illegal. Guns are supposed to be locked in a gun safe so children can't get them. A toilet is hardly a safe place from children. As ElCabong said, it is reference to The Godfather movie. Criminals might hide one there as it would be less likely to be searched and would also provide a way to grab one if you had to hide in the bathroom from someone. But even that is probably pretty rare.

Not saying no one does it, but it isn't anywhere close to normal.

Hell i not the gospel in this, or the legality. Just taking what i got told by American parents when i was out there. Not many kids gonna be opening cisterns and unwrapping guns, so made sense :)

I quietly suspect of the guns that outnumber the people in America not all are kept in a gun safe. IRL probably more hanging around in drawers than toilets but hey...

You would be surprised. Kids are hardly stupid and most likely know exactly where that was hidden. If they decided to pay with it, they would. And kids explore. Opening a toilet isn't unusual for young children.

A smart parent will always lock weapons up. Leaving them out, even hidden, just puts your kids at risk for no reason.

IF i see them again will tell em so. Not recall my kids opening up the cistern that much, but they are if nothing else unpredictable ;)

luckily in the UK such things are moot <.<

I could maybe see that, though it isn't a great place to keep one. The only place I remember there being a cistern was on my grand parent's farm and getting to it wasn't easy. It would be a place to keep a gun out of the hands of children, but there are better places. Farms are likely to need that kind of tool. They had a .22 rifle for killing ground hogs. It was locked in the barn.

If we ever have a zombie apocalypse in the uk we best up the dps of tools, will be a shortage of guns :D

Hmm ... Are we taking about actual cisterns? I had thought that was just a European word for the toilet tank. A cistern would be different, though probably not a great place even if it was better protected from kids.

Just the loo tank - two countries separated by a common language - Am now finding the depth of this throwaway remark increasingly amusing

In the Zombie apocalypse UK ofc we would be beating zombies with the physical cistern due to the lack of guns ;)

Oh, good point. I meant a cistern as a large reserve of water. My grand parents captured the water off of the roof of their house and used it as grey water. They used a well for drinking water.

I should have thought of the word being used to hold water for the toilet. Oops. I don't know anyone who has stored a gun there. There's not a lot of room in those. I suppose you could tape it to the lid. I'd have said it was a thing from movies.

For practical purposes, it's about the least useful place to store one.
Need it fast? Nope.
Is it secure? Nope.
Will it rot? Only if the bag leaks.. not unlikely.
Is it bloody suspicious? Yeap.
Did you forget it there and the plumber got shot pulling it out? Well, that's not too likely, but...
