PC Any solution for the 1 second freeze every ~60 seconds?

I've never had this lag hitch happen in any previous patch. Please don't tell me it's a hardware issue. Has anyone figured out if there's a fix? My whole group has this happen to them on completely different PCs and we refuse to play something so terrible.

Lower your graphic settings that could help. Also if you run at 1080p lower to 1600x900 makes a HUGE difference and you won't even notice the change in resolution. The biggest hitters of that hitch are water reflections turn it off and shadows or high tree settings.

This happens because of the game loading things in the background and/or saving.

Next time you freeze, press F1. You'll see why you lagged.

7 days to die has the most cutting edge engine and graphics of any game on the market. just look at the steam trailer and tell me that doesnt look like real life. it's time to deal with this people. an intel i7 and nvidia 1080 just doesnt cut it any more. its time to invest in some real hardware like an intel i9 and dual nvidia 2080s and 64 gigs of ram if you want to be a player in the gaming world. also rgb lighting should gain you at least 20 fps.

Hahahahahaha

Well in fact, this game is not well optimized, i have those drops witha 1060 6gb 16ram and i5 8gen

So...

Ha ha ha! That's hilarious!

My husband actually thinks that live action trailer is so clever, but I don't like it. I prefer trailers that feature actual gameplay.

But yes, for what the game looks like now (slightly better than A16), does not warrant how poorly it runs now. I hope the next patch gives a lot of focus to performance, and stuttering issues.

you wont see much of that kind of fixing until its in beta. Might see a little bit of performance fixing but not the major fixes you're looking for.

2070, 32gb and latest i5 on a complete gaming platform running from an SSD and I have never seen it this bad. It is not a GPU issue as it happens as frequently at 1080p as at 4k (at least for me).

I realise that performance is more of a beta task, but the drop in performance from A16.4 to A17 was huge. The game in its current state makes me ill from the micro-stuttering and it never used to. I want to see that fixed at least sooner rather than later.

Try disabling the in game voice chat, it seemed to resolve the micro stuttering for me.

The large stutters are when zombies spawn in. Sadly, it seems to affect everyone in a server even if they are no where near the zombies being spawned. I've noticed after ~20 players are connected, these stutters become even more aggressive, some lasting as long as 4-6 seconds and happen frequently.

Tried this last night, but sadly did not help at all.

I know my rig is getting old but I never had an issue with A16... now with A17 I've had those stutters plus the game crashes after 10 to 20 minutes of playing. Can't play anymore.

Expecting a alpha to be optimized at all is silly. It actually runs better than it should tbh for an alpha. Especally after a16 to a17 went thru 2 unity engine upgrades and a complete rewrite of a bunch of stuff.

Any of you happen to check your gpu temps? if it runs too hot (even if its within safe limit) it can cause performance drops. Also a17 looks better than any previous version, new/better graphics usually need better hardware.

Nice. XD

Hmm can't seem to find where to do that - is it in the in-game options?
I believe it's under the audio settings. I noticed the micro stuttering stopped for me when I disabled it.

I also run a really high end machine so it was a surprise to me it was still stuttering even on low settings.

Wait for a patch. We need to improve some memory use, unity garbage cleanup causes hitches.
Please fuse beards with mine, we would be unstoppable.

Thanks, I will try this tonight.

@Madmole, I saw on Reddit, there was a guy saying this about microstutters

Basically what happened is they stopped interpolating camera movements for your character, or forgot to reimplement it when they did their engine rework. Your character updates at a fixed rate (let's say 60hz) and if you have a high refresh monitor you'll notice the camera skips when looking down at the ground. Even at 60fps, you can notice temporal aliasing where the game updates twice before the frame is refreshed. This article describes more under the section Final Touch.A16 didn't have this problem for your character, but it did have it for the minibike, which was being updated at something way low like 20hz.

If you go to https://www.testufo.com/ and look at the middle scrolling animation, that's what it feels like in A17

I don't know if that helps you guys at all. Hope so.

If I run 1440 max settings I get 13 fps in towns.

Buuuuut... If I drop all the settings until the game looks like

, then I get 60+ fps and it's playable.
