PC An A17 Experimental Metaphor

i'm just wondering how many "outsiders" like me are reading all this stuff and backing away slowly-thinking "are these people able to be professionals? their forum moderator trolls people. The devs make radical changes that don't go in the patch notes-leading to much frustration and wasted time. This isn't looking good..."
We read it, have read it for years, roll our eyes, view it as just another persistent flaw with this game, and wait patiently for TFP to restructure and add a real community lead. No worries, no concern, no skin off our back. I mean if they're cool with keeping customer's feedback at arms length... that's really more their concern than anyone else's.

Wait...

...and I'm going to step out of my online persona and hope you see this as a sincere question...

Do y'all REALLY believe the pimps don't take customer feedback into account?

Or do you think it's only certain customers?

Can you clarify?

I find them the mos involved devs I've seen in a long time. Especially in the day and age of "Oh, you want this fixed? Well ♥♥♥♥ you here's more microtransaction stuff to buy".

I’m a persistent flaw with this game? Sweet! I’m in the game!

Not sure what you mean by customer feedback at arms length. Jax was complaining precisely because he believes TFP embraced the wrong customer feedback. You do realize that his heartfelt plea to Joel was essentially, “stop listening to THEM please”...

THEM = anyone with a playstyle different than his own.

Most who complain also seem to intrinsically believe that TFP really is listening but just to the wrong set of customers. Lol.

Crap, is anyone besides me now hungering for some french toast.
:( yeah, me to. and I have all the ingredients! except.. I bought Rosemary Sourdough bread this week. and I -really- don't think that'd turn out well :(

Sorry, you have me confused with someone who is willing to indulge the trolling. No soup for you. My post stands.

@ Jax C'mon man, you must know you are one of the more respected voices on here right? You also know Rolands style and this post falls completely within his persona and I think if you step back just a bit you'll see it was kinda funny. The majority of us have seen the commentary displayed in his skit playout over time but also realize most if not all of it is born from passion for the game. (which I hate to say since I'm so often at odds with poojam lol)

That being said I too hope the "easy" pendulum swings back towards the difficult side a bit, but it will never be Ravenhurst hard. That mod is just quite frankly too difficult for a lot of players, let alone new ones. Let's be honest you have never been content with the vanilla game and the fact that Ravenhurst doesn't even resemble vanilla is proof of that. It's a great mod for seasoned vets, or those wanting a deeper more challenging game that I thoroughly enjoy btw, but if I'd played it first I would have admitted defeat before day 2.

I'm just grateful that TFP has provided you and other the tools via modding to continue to give those who want a more challenging experience the option to create those varied experiences.

A lot of us know 2018 has been a rough year, and I'm hoping that in 2019 you will find a renewed vigor to continue giving us more RH challenges as I think that creative outlet is good for your soul. (and shamelessly I enjoy it ;) ) Give em time and I think you'll find something you can work with.

You know, I notice nothing was said about Guppy. Was it for the sake of brevity?

this made me think " what would ol' Doc H have to say? "
lol, I remember for a little while it was against forum rules to mention him after he got ♥♥♥♥canned.

He was hilarious, but not very professional. I think he was an ass to one too many customers. I mean, they were stupid customers and now that I work customer service I can kind of understand where he was coming from, but in this industry you just have to grin and bear it.

It seems like a lot of these people that try and bring doom, gloom and shame to the Fun Pimps have been around for years. Why? I once followed Fallout 76 and have since decided that I don't care for it and moved on. Funny enough, I haven't been to their forums or subreddit since...

It's true; he thought he was being funny, but others, not so much. Maybe there is a lesson here? Sucks though, 'cause I liked Doc and I like Roland. BUT, it may also be that Doc wasn't canned for being an asshat to customers; we just don't know.

It's just frustration. <shrug>

Think about it using your own logic; these people have NOT left and gone to do other things, so in reality, they must really still like the game despite the frustrating changes.

lol...Much to the dismay of some people and possibly Soup, I'm not going anywhere. Doc was NOT canned for being blunt to customers and I have never even once been asked to tone things down by the owners-- not even after the huge emoji meltdown of a couple months ago...

Think about it. As long as I can be better to customers than Madmole, I'm gold. ;)

There are a certain segment of people who want to be able to post as though these are typical internet social media comment sections and those people hate me with an undying flame because I will not let these forums devolve into that. It's fine. I can take it and even find the humor in it all.

Truth is that I will always moderate these forums with a bit of hilarity and humor and fun and if it offends some people so be it. If that ever gets me fired I can live with it. My first year of teaching I focused almost entirely on being a disciplinarian and battling with students every day over ridiculous things like chewing gum. I did some soul searching that summer and the next year I threw discipline out the window and instead took charge and dominated the class by being the alpha personality. I joked more. I smiled more. I made the class fun and guess what? I enjoyed what I did and because the students liked me they didn't want to disappoint me by breaking rules.

Now obviously the faceless internet will never allow that to happen but my point is I learned to enjoy and have fun doing whatever I'm doing and I have a blast moderating this forum and bantering with reasonable folks with a funny bone who don't take video games or themselves so seriously and trolling the trolls who are simply here to burn the place to the ground if they can because they didn't get their way at some point and couldn't adjust or forgive.

So lighten up or hate me but I'm not changing and I'm all you've got until TFP gets a true community lead hired...lmao

You're a teacher? I would have killed to have you as a teacher lol. What did you/do you teach? I love you here and your jokes lol. People do need to lighten up, that's some truth.

Yes indeed. You are Gold, Pony Boy :)

Recommend you keep a link to your post and whenever a newbie to the forums starts to throw a fit, just point em to it :) it -should- be like wacking a dog on the nose w a newspaper. Any that just get more stupid, well, shine up the ol Ban Hammer and smack em but good!

Though maybe, for the rest of us's enjoyment, keep the realllly stubbornly stupid ones on the ropes for a bit :D
