The animal spawns in the latest build seems to be a bit overwhelming to new players, hopefully it gets adjusted again soon.  I have no problem with it, but I've played this game for 6413 hours.

I see comments by people who recently bought 7 Days to Die saying that they're going back to stable because they're having such a hard time dealing with the wolves, dire wolves, and bears.

I know that A19 is still in experimental, but before it goes to stable, I wanted these new players' voices to be heard.

These new players don't even know that this forum exist, so I see their complaints and cries on twitter and  other areas.

I see comments like,

"So, A19b163's a game where you get attacked, not by zombies, but by dogs and bears.  This is really hard for me, when I only have primitive weapons to fight with."

"This patch is really hard for beginners.  I tried to fight from inside the trader compound because it was too hard, but the small wolf was able to slip in somehow.  When I tried to do a quest, I wasn't able to because a wolf was there.  I tried playing this build for a few hours, but it's too much.  I'm going back to A18."

"Please don't balance difficulty based on long time players.  This is just too much."

and more.

@Roland

I tried to PM you but the forum says "Roland cannot receive messages"...

Will you please empty your mailbox?

Damn, you guys weren't fu**ing around with animal spawns.

I can see this being a pain in the @%$*#! 1st couple days in. Since I'm already on day 12 I'm aptly able to defend myself.

I agree, it was nerfed a lil too much. Before this, I only saw one zombie bear, one dire wolf, and a few dogs. And thats in the last month since I started playing.

Just tonight I encountered 2 bears & a wolf in Diersville, a dire wolf, 2 mountain lions & a pack of dogs along with a zombie bear in the snow biome!! And that's just one game day, 90 min days. Holy sh*t fellas!!

Free food.

Free food.
I understand the problem with all the meat and I understand that it needs to be scaled properly by number of players in Multiplayer and the threats reduced again for the first few days.

But! It is lots of fun to have such a fresh number of threats! Crazy "oh shtz" moments.

I agree that meat comes in abundance now. If you drive around in the forest and engage every animal on your way you will end up with hundreds of meat in a single day. However, I absolutely love that many animals, adds a lot of fun / threat / excitement / variety to the game in my opinion.

Instead of decreasing amount of animals again there are other options that I'd prefer over that:

- Decrease amount of meat a player can loot from an animal

- Increase amount of meat we need for recipes

Guess first option would be more comfortable.

Indeed, the lack of animal spawns was I think to shred off the free meat it also supplies. What they need to adjust is the amount of meat harvested from each corpse but keep the numbers of animals up as wild life is a natural element the biomes need (specially forest) for diverse danger and fun moments.

Just typed out basically all that you just said... haha..

So... do you guys like the current amount of animals? I do ! Kinda makes me want more animals in the game. If only there was a way to balance all  that meat.... Snowdog? anyone?

The gliding sausage snake needs an animation pass, and probably a complete animal pass for every model wouldn't hurt a bit. Maybe more animals!, different shaped dogs with the same texture for example, I refuse to play make believe in a world in which ALL of them are Dobermans lol.

Why so angry!

like the voices in my head.....

Love the new animal spawn. Now you cant just carelessly run around the wild anymore but have to watch out.

Only that most agresive animals are not in the wild. The 5 Bears and 10 Direr Wolves i saw wher all in cities and towns. I saw not one of them in the wilds the only things that are the  normal wolves.

@faatal Excellent work with the Junk Sledge! Used it all night, it's really good in placement mode now. It's not amazing in handheld mode, but I went from carrying one as a meme weapon to carrying 2 and actually using them constantly late game to save ammo. Dual Junk Sledge + Steel Sledge can completely lock down a door. Mods now affect it in placement mode, and it's tracking and attack speed actually seem to scale etc and work well. 10/10, only thing else I can dream of is it being a bit stronger in handheld form, but my trusty sledge / axe gets the job done in the interrim and it's a lot more usable in handheld thanks to the knockback.

Also for the animal stuff, I personally really like the change. It makes the world feel much more alive (despite the zombies and dead etc). I saw like 4 bears in a few hours which was 4 bears more than I saw in 40+ hours before the patch, and many a scream was heard from my friend getting ambushed by wolves like 3 different times. I love when woods in games are filled with animals and things to see, rather than just giant open wastelands with nothing but trees

It makes meat more common, but meat by itself is near useless anyway, it didn't really devalue cooking all that much imo because you still have to combine meat with other stuff unless you want to sit there for 20 minutes eating meat stacks that barely heal or feed you compared to eating the higher tier foods. I think the food balance in general is really good for mid and late game, it's mostly just painful early game when you are stuck eating dinky cans of Miso Soup for 10 food and can't find eggs to save your life (literally)

Yeah, we not talking about the plastic bows you shoot the stick-on arrows with. That, contrary to believe, won't kill a zombie.

Go try and @%$*#! a proper 75lb break power compound bow, which is probably what you need to do any serious hunting with. Unless you just want to anger a boar.
In Kansas a 45 lb bow is all that is required to bow hunt and I've seen many a kid kill a deer at that poundage.  Most hunters probably are shooting 60-65 lbs, which BTW isn't very difficult to pull back as it's more about technique than strength since compound bows holding lbs is only 20 to 30 percent of draw weight.  I've actually only ever known one man who set his bow up at 75 lbs and it wasn't for hunting it was for competition.

Long bows on the other hand require considerably more strength as you draw.

EDIT : This is why I am a fan of LBD. It is so much simpler. You could assign parent stats to skills. Bows, dmg increase with strength, accuracy with agility. You can assign any amount of skills with it's required parent stats, without breaking any static class paths. etc etc. Problem solved.

Has nothing to do with LBD. A17 had this system as well, dmg did increase with strength, accuracy with agility...

"Please don't balance difficulty based on long time players.  This is just too much."
1. New players should be playing on warrior or lower with jog or maybe run, this should not be a game you can just pick up and play on a high difficulty. I can hear the wolves, hear the deer you just need to play enough to know how to handle things.

2. you've played 6000+ hours so you should know that during playthoughs there becomes a point where the game is no longer hard its why people turn the difficulty up and play though again. Don't make the game easier because some noobs who bites off more then they can chew wants to beable to sprint constantly and not watch his stamina to play and keep up with people who have been playing this game for thousands of hours. Just nerfing it for the rest of us and when that noob finally figures out what hes doing hes going to want the game harder too.

Day 1, 2, 3.....  Bears Bears everywhere.... many times 2 within a few meters of each other.

Me thinks a little to much bear.   wolves and dire wolves too.

I have ran into 2 Cops already, as well we had 2 ferals sleepers in the same time frame.   I don't think I have ever ran into a cop much less a feral in the first 7 days.

Also seems to be many more Zeds in the wild at this early stage.  My wife commented on this on day 1, and by day 3 was like they definitely have changed the spawns.

I know Joel @madmole updated the spawns of the animals but I don't recall seeing any changes on the Zed spawn tables.

So, anyone else having similar?

Yes we started a brad new save / map, dedicated server.
