The blunderbuss will be the most used firearm IMO. That doesn't mean it's great or fun, it just means the new primitive stage and loot are encouraging its use.
You and roland both, geesh. 😃

That was just an example of what could happen if metrics were misinterpreted.

I hope they make a bigger coffee mug. The first run one, is a neat little conversation piece.

I would like a slightly bigger one though, for drinking out of :)
I hope a new one doesn't feel as weird to the touch.

No, it addresses the actual stated problem, that being "people were just spamming stone axes to get points".  It's not semantics, it's exact.  If the problem is "people were just spamming stone axes to get points", then that would be what is needed to fix.

They did not.  They removed the entire system instead.

Not semantics.  Find a dictionary.  It'll be right next to that unused thesaurus in your library.
Reference books aside....the main point is that TFP did not want to fix that system. They wanted to use a different one. It is also why that former system will only ever be able to be approximated via the m-word. I htink you are correct that making LBD very specific to what the player was doing would have been a big improvement of that system. Most of the criticisms leveled against it would be gone if (for example) sitting on a cactus only resulted in you getting better at sitting on a cactus. However, they decided they didn't want that system so here we are and they were completely supported by the analytics and telemetry tech they used at the time.... ;)

I see you discussing the crafting, its honestly the only thing I would have removed from that mechanic. Crafting is better being perks only, specially when split between different attributes.
Its like a simple fix for the biggest issue there, and I never found anyone who thought the mass crafting in specific was good. It was the rest.

btw bow > blunderbuss. I love the silent style 😎

ok but this has been a 7+ YEAR alpha... most games are 1-2 years alpha...
does it matter?

there taking their time! they could have just stopped at A3 , 4, 5 or even 16 but they didn't there trying to make a nice game. good things take time!

EVEN THOUGH I WANT TO PLAY A19! but that has to wait.

Well, I just wanted it to be known that was a poor example for that specified weapon because it has definitely changed my whole early game meta now. A lot of my scavenging is for keeping ammo stocked for my blunderbus and paper in the game is like toilet paper in rl...

It's always possible for metrics to be misinterpreted but I think the things they are looking at will be pretty cut and dry. Mostly, it will be used to justify stuff they wanted to do no matter what...heheh

omega games are the best doh
What I dont get is that people moan about the 7 years dev time,

Where AAA Games that launch on time are so broken you cant play them.

Duke Nukem Forever took 15 years and was and still is a total car crash.

Diablo 3, Sim City, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4,  WOW, any big title has issues and needs fixing, GTA 5 still has problems.

I am just happy they have still have the time and passion for the game.

I just binge-watched the first 4 dev streams. I've been waiting for these kind of update for years (especially the redoing of the lighting/color space). It's just wonderful. I just hope the performance is not worse like in every update before. But there is 2 things I wanted to see improved that didn't happen sadly:
1) In the third stream where they show the new textures all looks great but the ground textures (at 00:37:00) look even worse (low quality) than before next to the new beautiful hight quality textures. They look kinda blurry and it seams as if there are no bump/normal maps on them. It's especially bad when there are rocks drawn on the texture but are flat and look like drawn rocks not real one.
2) I really like pistols. I am crazy on that topic. They're my favorite weapons in every game. I've always hated the pistol (normal pistol, not 44magnum)  animations (idle, walk, run, fire, reload (the reload is kinda OK in A19)) in 7DaysToDie. Especially when some of the other weapon have so good animations. I've always thought that the animators just hadn't had time to redo them. But now as I'm seeing the new animations I think that they either don't know how to create satisfying looking pistol animations or that their style is very different from all the other games and is not to my liking at all. I like the pistol animations in pretty much every other game (AAA: Doom, Apex Legends, Wolfenstein: The New Order / The Old Blood, Far Cry, Any Battlefield, Any Call Of Duty, Crysis, Borderlands (2,3), Counter Strike (Source and later but even 1.5-1.6) and even Dying Light which is primarily a melee game; Indie: Rust, PUBG, etc.) but in 7DaysToDie it feels really bad and stiff. Well I guess I'll have to figure out if I can insert new hand animations at runtime with DMT.

3) And why the guns are still so close to the screen? Wasn't this change made to cover the ugly hands model? Now that the hands have been redone I see no reason for why the gun has to be so close to the screen. This kinda makes the pistol animation look even worse.

In reviewing the forum analytics I can see that most people want consistency in labeling so I will be modifying the forum labeling
