Speaking of weapon handling, right now an M60 with a scope is basically an automatic pinpoint accurate sniper rifle. Is gun handling going to see any changes or is what we have now essentially the final iteration?

Regarding the Random biomes:

Fully random biomes

(Obviously you all will do better then that. That was just me playing around).

Why not just allow for all?

"NorthernHemisphere" "SouthernHemisphere" and "TrueRandom" or something?

Just asking, since random biomes are still capable of being a thing.

Any plans to buff or replace the .44 magnum? Most people I meet that have tried a pistols build consider it to be the worst firearm due to the low ammo count and most mods being incompatible with it.
Yeah. Speedloader, a tool used by competition shooters to fast reload a pistol)? Not available. Silencer? Not available -- though you can put a silencer on your shotgun or m60. Effective range is low, best damage is half of a shotgun slug, if you are unlucky you can actually get a *5 bullets* magnum (uh... that stat really shouldn't be randomized). There's a magnum magazine, and the most interesting thing in it is a trading bonus. The criminal pursuit isn't bad, and with only 6 ammo count (or 5!!!), you gonna need it. Apparel is essentially useless -- it only works if you are taking 20 points of damage after armor. And that's wearing a full suit, which sucks compared to the bdu, and cannot be worn if you want to take advantage of the ghillie suit/stealth part of the agility tree.

And the sad thing is that magnum pistols are a thing, but the .44 is essentially intentionally crippled, because, I guess, it does a ton of damage. Except only way less than the shotgun, which not only isn't crippled, but it's probably the best gun in the game.

I've played an agility build -- I went all the way to agility 7, with level 4 on all its perks, before I put a single point on another attribute. I'll use the pistol or the smg, but never the magnum, and not for lack of trying. If you'd rather kill a demolisher with a pistol or smg rather than the magnum, despite the magnum's sole advantage of better damage, you know that gun just ain't worth using.

Bing search Mosin Nagant revolver suppressed
If that isn't cherry-picked, I don't know what is.

That's like the one exclusion because the entire gun was specifically designed with that purpose in mind.

Exactly mow common is that? It's not. It's unusual.

Since we have a bunch of gun nuts here I get the chance to ask a stupid question. Is there any way at all that a revolver is better than a semi-automatic pistol in real life?

The only advantage I could see is that with less moving parts a revolver would be easier to clean and slightly better at dealing with rust.

A couple points and a question about candy mechanics with a possible exploit at the end.

I got a blunderbuss in loot the other day. I realized I *like* this gun. I didn't use it with the intent of being a solution in combat. I just used it for fun as the opening shot in combat before switching. In that context, this gun is a great little distraction while clearing POIs. I hope it stays around and I would love to see it in loot more often.

The magnum however feels like it's supposed to be useful for dealing with zombies and I'm just not feeling it. Maybe the speed loader idea solves this, because I feel it's either lacking in capacity or reload speed. A buff in one or the other would probably solve the issues here. And yes, I'm aware it's a 6 shooter, so that pidgeon holes it into reload speed.

Candy. Better Barter. So there's going to be a candy that temporarily gives you a point in better barter. Is it intentional that people will be able to double dip the secret stash with this? I used to do that with the magazines and it was **strong** to say the least. Sitting at BB 4 and flexing into 5 at will give a ton more ammo and more shots at good solar panels.

He said it couldn’t be done. It has been done. Simple as that, take that how you will.

You can already double dip into the Trader's secret stash. As long as your Nerdy Glasses grant you the 1 Intellect point needed to activate the next Better Barter level that changes the secret stash (ie 3 and above), then removing the Nerdy Glasses will grant you a different, albeit lesser, secret stash.

For instance, you need 10/10 Intellect to purchase Better Barter 5/5; doing so grants you the final secret stash level. However, if you only invest 8 levels into Intellect (since you start with 1/10 in all attributes by default), and the Nerdy Glasses grant you the final required level, removing them grants you two secret stashes per trader.

There are a lot more moving parts in a double action revolver (like the one in the game) than you think. Guppy’s right though, if kept in good condition they’ll never jam. They just may not work. If you find one in a trash bag in the forest though, you might not be as good as you think. But it’s a game, we must suspend belief sometime

A lot of things have to happen to ♥♥♥♥ the hammer, unlock the cylinder, move the cylinder, re-lock the cylinder, and trip the hammer all in sequence and all in the correct timing.

I never thought of that. That's an even better way to do it. Still, though, are secret stash shenanigans an intentional feature?

This has been a thing since A17. If they're going to be tackled, it'll either be soon or never, so regardless, abuse or not use this method. (:

The magnum is good but it desperately needs a reload time buff. 9 times out of 10 you use the pistol anyway because of its versatility, ability to get you out of a jam (6 shots from a magnum isn't gonna save you from late game sleepers), and it can accept a silencer (stealth character loves this for obvious reasons). Plus, the ammo is a lot cheaper to make.
It was exciting to get my hands on a magnum during my AGI build, but I quickly realized it was just a worse pistol for all the reasons above and more. In particular, you spend more time reloading than shooting, and the firerate seems rather low most of the time. I pretty much only used it for trader discounts from that point on.

It would be greatly improved and actually see some use with a reduction to reload time (mainly cut out the spinning part, that's half the problem) and an increased fire rate (if it could fire as fast as you pull the trigger that would be pretty fun). Yes it would turn into a burst spam gun but it would have a more distinct role from the pistol, while still requiring discipline due to the ammo cost.

I understand the mechanical principle behind it. I was looking for less obvious things such as lower recoil or perhaps a quicker draw.

I live in a country where the only pistol you can openly carry is muzzle-loaded, you're not allowed to make any propellant for it but if you really must wear a flintlock then you're (theoretically) allowed to do so. Start waving it around and expect to be surrounded by a lot of very excited policemen pointing automatic rifles at you.

As Aleister Crowley pointed out, theory and practice are often two different things :-)

Or perhaps...

Also I just realized "pistols" has 4 weapon tiers (smg). :numbness: Madmole is this intended? Maybe the revolver can be a legendary weapon in the future or...
