Its a game so spoiling concrete would be lame. We don't want to force everyone into being a miner and not everyone wants to mine so bags of concrete can be looted, so that looters can get materials they need for a decent small base as well.
This is one of my favorite changes ever. It's simply brilliant to give looters a chance to get some mats whole looting.

Mining will still get you far more in the long run but its nice to be able to get some mats while looting.

That screws people over who want to build castles and large creative structures in a legit game. Its already way too grindy to make anything other than a small box fort.
Also screws sp people.

Down the road I want to make a material you load into your gun like hold R to select ammo. Then you upgrade with that material. Then there is no accidental upgrading your r concrete to steel just because you have steel in your inventory.
Daw! Whoever's said you don't listen to the forum is clearly mistaken - obviously you were taking notes when TSBX said:

I think it would be awesome to load the nailgun with a material (wood, stone, scrap iron, etc) and be able to upgrade blocks ONLY with that material. Need to upgrade your spikes? Load up scrap iron and don't worry about accidentally upgrade to reinforced iron. Want to make a wood base? Load it up with wood and fire away.
Great idea!

Add to that only one headshot is needed. That would be cool.
JaWoodle is currently doing a series on Youtube called Doomsday. He uses a modlet that increases the headshot damage to 300% but reduces the damage of body hits by 75%.

The modlet can be found here: http://tiny.cc/cowcjz

I'm not talking about speed, but material cost. Without the tool one needs 20% more stone and sand for the same amount of concrete.
The cost of producing concrete in the early game has already been increased from Alpha 17 to Alpha 18. Without 5 points in Advanced Engineering you need 20% more stone to produce the same amount of concrete mix.

In addition, you need 20 concrete mix to upgrade a rebar frame in Alpha 18. So you need twice as much concrete mix to build a base out of reinforced concrete as in Alpha 17.

Because more than one hit is too slow for the top tier. Use a stone axe if its too fast for you.

Oh PLEASE no! Then doing multiple upgrades on a block you either have to keep circling the base like a lunatic or constantly be reloading the tool? Urgh!

I'd guess the idea is an autoloader, load nothing and it'll use your inventory, load it and it'll only use that type until you reset or something.

Of course, I always think the idea is to maximize the difference between being bad at something and being good at it, with something primal about the skill involved. Timing, rhythm, focus, anticipation; foresight, deduction, patience, planning, tenacity, design. With good a/v rewards and as much "stuff" stuffed in everywhere as possible. Okay, that kinda got away from me there. The nail gun just needs focus and rhythm, it's a simple tool but it has its pleasures, you can get good with it. Of *course* somebody wants to take that away. It's the way of the world.

This is a great solution, imo. Prevents unintentional upgrading and unifies the system with how firearms works.
There is the issue of a player who just wants to repair quickly after horde night and be done with it. Perhaps one of the "ammo" selections could be its current behaviour.
Repair would work like now grabbing mats from your belt. ONly upgrade uses the selected ammo. Best of both worlds.

You have to think about how it will work for explosives. If zombies can be killed only in the head, then explosives, with this setting of game, can become almost useless, especially with regenerating zombies.
That is with an incorrect assumption that heads would not take damage from explosives.

NO. This is NOT funny.
It is MANDATORY.

Please Gazz, I beg of you Madmole, if you ever cared for us your loyal customers at all, you will add a very rare lootable clothing item called "LBD". It must be hard-coded in the game, not in XML. No dye slot. When worn

a) the survivor appears to be wearing a LBD; all armor remains in effect, but is not visible

b) gives +25% stealth

c) (undocumented) gives 1 XP for every stone axe created

DO EET!
Na, it would be -5 to INT :D

Exactly. I don't think any changes are needed. This is another example where a mod would be better. You can't expect first timers to know stuff, so when a guy with 10k hours experience wants it harder for everyone you have to just roll your eyes. I do think making electricity required for the mixer and maybe scaling block damage with GS would be decent moves.

I'm sure I've mentioned it some years before and he might have picked up on it. It's been in talks since the radial menu was introduced many years ago. If not great minds think alike.

Yep, its a lot harder than it used to be IMO.

No you would skip all the bs and upgrade everything to the selected material. If concrete is loaded, all wood blocks hit would become wet concrete, all flagstone would also become wet concrete. You set the material and upgrade to it. The only use case different would be steel, it would reject upgrading all but r concrete.

It seems like 99% of the good ideas pitched by the people have already been thought of years ago and or TFP has one that is far better. Goes to show you that TFP were born to make video games. Yah just cannot go wrong placing faith in TFP. Keep up the good work Madmole and the rest of the Pimps.
