Okay, maybe this is already too many, sorry if so. One more and I'm done hammering. It's not my call. Making concrete this easy to get in endless quantities spoils everything else. It makes wood and stone and iron negligible. "Lame". Just f'ing slow it down.
In my fantasy, if you're not pouring points into research and your luck's bad at the traders, iron and brick are the best you can reasonably expect in any quantity the first couple months, you might have to be clever with them to survive, you might have to work around their limits. In my fantasy there's real gameplay value in them. If you want to skip that step, get lucky or drop a stack of perk points into power and steel. When midgame starts heating up there should be a distinct possibility you have to race to get your concrete and steel up and running because if you don't the demos that have been giving you fits will reduce your base to rubble. As it stands now I have solid concrete before the first rad shows up on horde night, basically no matter what I do, usually reinforced.

Make it very slowly handcraftable, make the mixers require power, the people who don't want to go that route will have to be sparing in their use of concrete sure but zombie apocalypse, duh It's not supposed to be easy. No matter what it is, your choices should be sacrifice for it, Get Real Lucky, or do without.
Mixers definitely need power or fuel yet.

I mean concrete, powered workstations, whatever... it does not really matter as long as it is balanced and fun.

If you start making concrete harder to make though, you should then probably make it harder for zombies to break.

I mean most blocks break like paper, and you are not even going to use wood for anything a zombie is going to touch. That whole tier is kinda usless TBH.

I did not read a lot of this stuff because TL;DR, but it just looks like people are trying to make the game less fun and more tedious again.

It would be cool too see mixers optionally powered with car battery or by the battery banks etc rather than having them mechanically powered only. Let's say mixers without external power could mix 50 percent slower and some of the functions could be limited like making sand from the stone without electrical power could be not possible. Cement mixing is OP at the beginning of the game. Needs to be additionally curbed somehow.

What about maybe making zombie block damage scale with the game stage? That way wood and flag/cobblestone could be useful early game.

This would be a good approach, as i share the concern about too abundant Concrete/cement Mix, starting at early Midgame.

What i did on our Server was to double the costs of Cement in the Concrete Mix, wich slowed down Progression a bit more.

Would be cool if blocks just didn't follow a linear upgrade path and different blocks were useful in unique ways:

Wood - Can float on water. Strong against acid spit. Best insulation against weather.

Flagstone - On destruction causes an outburst of material damaging the attacker for 50% total health.

Brick - Reduces the heat signature/production of players/forges/campfires/etc.

Cobblestone - Strong against melee. Negates the zombie pile up damage bonus.

Concrete - Very strong against explosions. Strong against bullets.

Steel/Metal - Strongest SI in game. Weather causes effects on contact to entities:

Heat- burns attackers and walkers

Cold- slows attacks and walkers

Rain- Cause attackers and walkers to slip and ragdoll periodically

Snow- Periodically freezes attackers and walkers still

Thunderstorm- chance for lighting strike, shocking attackers and walkers.

This would open up so many new possibilites. You can cater your base to a specific playstyle

very strongly. And have a reason to use multiple materials. Just an idea, maybe a mod in the future.

I don't know why we are talking about the specifics of concrete. There are a lot cooler stuff we could be talking about.

Everybody suggest new ideas for weapons!

POI suggestions! (Malls)

Perk suggestions!

The people will talk about what they feel is important and nothing wrong with that. Unless a dev cuts that topic off in that case no one should chat about it.

Suggestions should go in Pimp Dreams not here lest Roland be given more work cleaning up this thread.

I hope that helps you understand. :)

This thread is about alpha 19. It'll be ok to post some cool ideas about what's going into alpha 19.

the Dreams thread isn't that active.

I understand. I guess I'll be cooking up some ideas in the dream thread.
