Just created a new mod for you guys and wanted to leave a link here to it. For me it balances finding schematics and recipe unlocks well. By making it so perks don't unlock recipes but rather the schematics for those items. Then schematics can only be created using an item that is obtained solely through schematics. The way it works is every time you use a schematic you get a shard to make another. Currently in Alpha 19.1 when you find a schematic you get two. That means you will get two shards every time you find a schematic. A new schematic costs on average 50 shards, so that means every 25 schematics found you can make one you're missing.
