Did they increase the count more from the first builds?
Yes. As of b155 (I think?) they added a single guaranteed feather to nest loot. So before it was 1-5 feathers, it is now [1 feather] + [1-5 feathers], basically. There is a 50% chance of RNG choosing twice, so you can get feathers & eggs, or double feathers, or even two eggs and just the one guaranteed feather.

Player Vending Machine Pricing

I'm passing along a note from one of the players on my server regarding pricing on player vending machines.

So, with some help with Ryan, I have discovered that better barter affects vending machine prices. So for me, with my maxed out better barter skill, the prices I set appear much, much lower for me than they do for anyone with a lower barter skill. The difference can be pretty massive. The profit I get is from the price the buyer sees

It's going to make pricing things much harder
TLDR: If you've perked up your trading skill, you can't set your personal vending machine prices as high. Vending machine prices should be based on global economy values.

Thanks. I don't think that single guaranteed feather means that one could say, "they over compensated for the lack of feathers in previous exp builds".

I'm sticking with my original thoughts... some people are just bad at finding feathers.

Recent discovery I made, "Sprinting" while driving a vehicle consumes far, far more gas then just driving it normally. For about a 30% speed boost you consume about 5 times the gasoline, probably more. This is most likely a bug.
I'm pretty sure that's working as intended.

I think the reduced feathers in the previous exp builds was just about right, however, I'm always short on eggs now. Not even making bacon & eggs at all, saving them for pie, I'm that short on 'em. Haven't found the pie recipe yet, either, but that's just RNG messing with me. I do have around 3-4 stacks of feathers, but only a few dozen eggs, after about 3 weeks in my current world.

 
Since Twigg said that was the intended design, I'll post this here - Mining/firefighter helmets should definitely have light w/o mods. There is little point at getting a mining/ff helmet when you get a mod which you can install at any helmet.

Doesn't this make more sense for a smoother progression?

Torch - got to switch.

Flashlight - better light, still got to switch.

Mining/ff helmet - equipped light, but on a mediocre helmet.

Helmet light mod - equpped light, on any helmet you want.

 
Good question. Animal/Zombie blood harvesting confirmed!!!!!
I never used the blood draw kit until recently in A18 as I was just really curious what it did.

I think I saw a drinking animation and a blood bag appeared haha.

I then I think got a skull icon on screen and something about feeling not good.

Good ridden I say wasn’t useful at all. Blood bags should be found easily in hospitals, ideal place for such things.

I'm playing since A6 and I have now about 1500 hours on this awesome game.

I really LOVE this A18.

...But there is 3 things that I HATE.

First thing :

Why the hell our own cooking preparations can make us sick ?!

Why would I want to go hunting, fetch eggs, plant plantations, spend points on Master Chef and spend a lot of my precious time if it can make me sick, when I find a lot of cans while looting?

Second thing :

Not new on A18, it came with A17 or A16, I don't remember.

When I am aiming with a firearm (= using iron sight, red dot or any scope), why the hell is my crossair stays ?! Why the hell do I have to wait some time right-clicked to be accurate ? Did you ever played any other First Person Shooter ? I'm sur you did, but do it again. I don't expect a feeling like Apex, Call of Duty and so on, but there is still a minimum !

I have understood that it's a feature mainly added for the perk system. If I want to be more accurate, I spend more skill points. OK, but when you play it makes no sense. If you want something for skill tree, maybe replace this ugly aiming-crossair by a recoil control ? A true recoil control, that strongly raises the sight at the beginning, and less and less when you spend points. Or something like that.

Third thing :

Not new on A18, it came with A17.

Please let us adjust our Field of View! I know you disable it for performance improvements... But the default FOV makes me sick.

Maybe add a big warning message when the player change the FOV if you want... But let us do it !

I am obliged to type the "sg OptionsFieldOfViewNew 100" command every time I launch the game... So boring.

I know this post is salty, and I'm sorry, I love this game, but these things really bother me :(

 
Has there been any discussion/explanation why certain tiers of weapons/tools have the same number of mod slots? Shouldn't T1 have one mod slot, T5 have 5 mod slots, etc.?

NOOOO!!! Hehehehe

This helps a lot because I killed about 5 and 7 screamers that spawned one after another.

 
Why are blood draw kits gone!? Because some people didn't use them? I thought this game was moving towards supporting various playstyles. Should they remove bicycles because I personally don't use them?

Blood draw kits were an interesting aspect of this game. If the blood debuff was giving the game trouble, just go back to making it do straight damage. Geez, you could make a whole game just from the perfectly serviceable features that have been cut from this one.

 
Alpha 18 is a very welcome improvement over Alpha 17. Lots of great changes. However I really agrre with these two. I can't see any reasonable justifications or benefits of these changes.
