When balance is done. And bandits are added. I’m pretty sure no one will be missing waiting on1200 iron ore smelting into the forge for 100 minutes. The game is not done. It is an alpha. Things come. Things go. We have a lot more to go.

new gardening is ♥♥♥♥, get a grip. who makes a plater box when you can dig up ground and plant directly into the soil.
I presume the lore behind it is that the ground is radiated/poisoned so we players need to use raised farm plots. Functionally, once you had a garden hoe and some seeds, you were pretty much set for crops early game. I'm surprised TFP let the old farming system go as long as it did.

I am sure someone will make a mod bringing back the garden hoe for those who don't like the new farming system.

Nope.

This makes nonpoisonous food. Rare reciepe , but it breaks the lore argument.

And, all we need now is dukes, and we are set as far as food goes.

Well Ronald is as always the super nice guy trying to cool things down. You can't be mad on this guy.

However I think the entire concept of having to loot tools to craft tools and melee weapons is a bad idea. Removing mechanical parts was an even worse idea because I already required to kill zombie dogs and bears and get my hands dirty anyway.

What question? I don't answer stuff I don't know the answer to or I've answered 500 times already, and I don't answer walls of text nor multiple questions.

I searched your posts and found this. Sorry but I don't answer more than one question and certainly not walls of text. The short answer is game design/fun trumps realism, and the game needs some form of progression and gates. You can't have a massive farm on day 1. Sorry you can't craft everything, get off your ass and loot mechanical parts. I can assemble a car IRL but I need the parts.
Ok so you don't answer walls of text. That's fine.

-Not having farm day 1? Yes . Requiring rotten meat? Bad

-Switch rotten meat with something else.

-Making lucky looter govern looting chances is bad. Lucky looter should switch to faster looter. Looting chances should be static, make ALL looted tools and weapons level 1, make people level up their perks ,scrap items and try to find more tools. Give people a better incentive to constantly go out of their bases instead of cheating their way through easy looting.

The Fun Pimps, Madmole, reading positive reviews on steam most players already want the translation into Spanish, being realistic the game does not even have 10% translated into the second most spoken language in the world, and we can not enjoy the game 100 % just for that reason please translate it and that all of us who bet on this game can enjoy it like all other buyers, A18 is brutal and we want it in Spanish to enjoy it with greater pleasure.
Keep up the great work guys.
Heres the deal.. a18 isn't done yet. It makes ZERO sense translating before they have everything in place, because then it needs to be done again.

They can't spend for a translator for this experimental version, and then next week another one, and next week another one and every single week until its done.

When a18 is done THEN they'll do the translation.. same with chinese as well. They've already said this several times over for several languages now.

If you don't like it, don't put a point in it, pure and simple. The development balance is to create a bunch of different options for varied play styles, not force them down one road.

You put your points in lucky looter, you then don't have points in something else, making that the play challenge. Maybe you can't melee, or can't deal with weather changes, or can't craft vehicles.

Sometimes I'll invest in it, sometimes I'll invest in trader perks instead to get better items from the trader. I just did the latter and was able to afford a minibike on day 6, earliest I've been able to get one in a18.

madmole:

How is the state of the encounter system you mentioned ? Is it in the works or is bug squeezing currently more important ?

I will stick to my guns that the encounter system will do everything its meant to, which is sell the player into feeling like the world is teaming with zombies, without spawning guys that just sit there and eat cpu waiting for a player to stumble across them and count against maxalive. Your method (our old method) is careless and wasteful, we're doing something elegant we can control, and keep people at 60fps at all times. ONce the player leaves it despawns and we can send someone else an encounter. We can do mini blood moons in the near future, wandering traders, bandit patrols, wandering hordes, a few zombies eating a corpse, a damsel in distress, all game staged for the person we plan it for.

I hope for something like Left 4 Dead did with their AI Director:

The Director (sometimes referred to as The AI Director, or simply as AID) is the artificial intelligence of Left 4 Dead that features a dynamic system for game dramatics, pacing, and difficulty.
Instead of set spawn points for enemies, the Director places enemies in varying positions and numbers based upon each player's current situation, status, skill, and location, creating a new experience for each play-through.

You literally need the lucky looter to find schematics to make the steel tools and even find the steel tools. You need schematics to craft most things as you can no longer learn them from perks.

You probably can find those items without the perk but my guess from playing the game is the chances of finding rare loot without lucky looter is astronomically small . As of A18 it's the most forced perk in the game. It makes A16 looting look good.

Edit:By forced perk I mean the fact I have to find both schematics and the tool parts to craft steel tools, weapons ,completely skip farming because I find canned food , skip armor crafting and clothes because I can now find everything from looting with maxed lucky looter. Without lucky looter I think it's impossible to find those items at all.

And to make things worse it breaks the game completely by giving day one augers , machine guns and maxed out junk turrets.

Ehh, my latest run (day 8 now) I've only put 1 point into lucky looter and 1 point into daring adventurer and I've found lots of schems and books. Aside from the lots of schems, I've gotten a level 4 steel sledge, lvl 4 AK, level 3 pistol, shotgun schem, can make cement mixers, lots of stuff. I've gotte n3 pieces of tier 4 / 3 steel armor. It's not ALL about lucky looter, you can get lucky without it. RNG is RNG either way.

Well with a level 5 lucky looter I found a modded auger (iirc it came with the 50% gas mod), a level 2 m60, an ak47 , 2 junk turrets and maybe a beaker . Next couple days I found a steel pickaxe and two(!) irradiation removal mods.

Put 1 part on lucky looter, looted 4 houses and could barely found an anvil schematic and an ak47. I'm also on a single player save with lucky looter 2 and I barely found 3 junk turrets on day 30.

I can't run looting tests but there's clearly a huge gap between level 1, 3 and 5 without accounting goggles. Maxed perk + goggles must give free beakers and engines methinks.

You may feel it is necessary, personally i do not like to craft items. The random stats, plus the increased cost to make high tier weapons and armor outweigh the use of 14 skill points to get Lucky Looter 5. It's not forced. I choose to do it. To me it feels as though you think everything is gated behind lucky looter and really you want the game to be linear in every play through. Which imo would be boring quickly. Who wants to have the exact same progression in every single game? Where's the replay value?

Thanks for the reminder on the video. A few thoughts

-That video was very well done and is a pretty accurate depiction of A18 gameplay (e.g. spear, double barrel shotgun)

-I wonder how much they paid the actor to walk naked (or semi-naked) in the snow. 😂😂😂
