I don't consider a gun jamming a cheap mechanic. You just have to plan for the possibility and have a way out of trouble. It's a video game. EVERY death method, when looked at in isolation, could be considered a "cheap death". I would submit that having ways to plan ahead to avoid all the "cheap" deaths is the hallmark of the whole genre.
I would love to see this mechanic implemented. Imagine you enter a POI with a machinegun with lots of Z's, and after your first few shots they are all awake and it jams and you have to reload :D

All this leads to is the "requirement" to have multiple weapons of that type on your hotbar and more inventory Tetris switching tool type items in and out. I don't think this would be a lot of fun.

*shrugs* I always found Tetris to be really fun. :) lol just joking.

Not jamming as in not working at all but jamming as having to reload. Nothing complicated just some of those oh sh*t moments.

I'm not exactly sure where I should post this since there is no thread for A18 stable bug reporting I'll post here in hopes a tester sees this.

Summary: Duplication Torches/Candles (possibly other items)

Version: A18 Stable

Platform: PC

OS/Version: Windows 10 Professional Version 1903

Game mode: all game modes

Did you wipe old saves? Yes

Did you start a new game? Yes

Did you validate your files? Yes

Are you using any mods? No

EAC? On

Status: NEW

Bug Description: Duplicate torches/candles and possibly other items. If placing a torch/candle down and immediately dropping it from toolbelt will place a torch and drop a duplicate of said item at the same time.

Reproduce steps: Equip a torch/candle (Might be possible with other items that can be placed and dropped, I have not tested other items yet) Place the torch/candle down and quickly press G to drop it from toolbelt. Might take a few attempts, must be timed perfectly.

Oops there it is.

Cheers

Isn't that only for EAC related bugs? I'm so confused by the new layout.
If you open the announcement thead of 155 stable (or any experimental after it) it contains the link to the official bug reporting thread.

For 155 its the one i posted.

Cheers

A18.1 B4 EXP

Fixed

Tapping "Alt" makes upgrading blocks crazy fast

Typo in perkAdvancedEngineeringRank4LongDesc

Player unable to craft blood draw kit with all required perks

Cleaned up stats, cost, naming, description, recipe for various garage doors

BlockTorchHeatMap heat inaccuracy by scaling heat by world time speed

Silenced M60 is as quiet as a pistol. Better noise scaling on silenced gunfire.

RWG preview tool localization

NRE when trying to reload a flashlight.

HOW do you reload a flashlight lol.

WHAT ammo does it take.

DO zombies die from beams of light now :-(

What that means is the NRE that used to pop up from pressing the reload button on a flashlight has been fixed.

ok, so I wiped my comp of 7dtd, reinstalled. day 1, finally got a forge going. 2 screamers....on day 1? no torches, havent cooked yet. no mining yet. how the hell am I generating that much heat? oh, and the forge ran for 4 minutes, 20 seconds.

adventure, 90, 16 max, rwg.

not a bug, wondering what changed

hmmmmm... maybe the screamer is a pot head a? 420 you know *nudge nudge* She probably just wanted a hit. Puff puff pass my friend lol. :)

I’m playing an agility build right now and found the AK-47 schematic on day 2. I’m wondering what the benefit is from crafting this gun because i’m never goung to put a single point in the fortitude tree. (So a lvl 1 AK-47 in this case if I would craft one)

It would be a cool option to find other special parts to upgrade weapons/tools where you didn’t perk into.

Iron club is not gated if you perk into clubs. Should a noob who know jack ♥♥♥♥ about clubs be able to craft the "mid tier" club? Nope. Buy the perk and craft it, or find the schematic, but why on earth use a weapon you aren't perked into? The animations are a work in progress, most people love what Brian has done, and there are amazing new hit sounds, I don't know what you are talking about with sounds. The club is intentionally underwhelming so there is feeling of progression when you get the better weapons and buy the perks. The baseball bat has a nice whiff sound and amazing impact thuds.
Of course medicine is gated. You can heal with food, rest and regular bandages just fine. Sorry you aren't OP 2 seconds into the game with unlimited hit points. Remember those old painkillers that were basically useless? Now they are great. If you want some basic healing you can "use" aloe cream for some limited healing like the "old bandages".

IMO you need to just relax a bit and play it a good 50 hours+. Forget the past and treat it like a new game. Its the best alpha ever so I'm told so I think its a matter of not understanding it fully and compared to what you thought you knew.
being skilled at something to craft it is not the point at all, is about how you encompass the items with the progression in a way that one keeps up with the other, do you put the cheese on a burger when its already done? no, why? because by that time is pointless, by the time i find the schematic i wont be needing that anymore, is as simple as that, why? because progress speed is not synched with the items tier (and by tier i do not mean quality), why use a weapon i am not perked into? why would i perk into something that feels awfull? the first thing you do is to check stuff to have a general idea of what could be fun to perk into, there is a saying "first impressions matter" and well they do. A17 had a great feeling of progression (at least thats how it felt to me) but also it felt well balanced, is ok to try new setups now that the game is in alpha, but my suggestion would be: if you wanna give a enhanced feeling of progression, do it by adding value to it.

about the sounds, in A17 when you hit a zed with a club/hammer you kinda feel like you are hitting meat, it also sounds more impactful, now i have the impression that i am hitting wood, or that my club is just a shell and is empty inside. Also it rly ticks me off to hear a zombie as loud as if he was behind me only to realise he is half a block away!

the animations overall are ok, but if you hit with a 10 kgs hammer 2 things happen: A) what you hit starts moving as a result of the hit (feels off that zeds literally dont even blink after the hit) B) you are unable to stop the hammer in the exact same point where you hit, thats like driving a car at 100 km/hr hit the brake and stop in less than a meter. (inertia)

we are having aconversation here mate no need to be overly sarcastic, and i am not talking about mid game medicine, i am talking about the most basic bandages the ones that stop the bleeding not the ones that heal you up, they need cloth to be crafted, before i would just get some cotton craft the cloth and then craft the bandage now to craft the cloth i need a book, to be more precise the book number 6 of the wasteland collection, once again (just as with the club) by the time i get that book i would have probably hoarded enough cloth from looting as to not need it anymore, so again i dont get what i need when i need it but much later when i dont, do you now see what i meant that day when i said that RNG is not a very popular feature in the gamng industry? ( i havent found any painkillers yet but i am glad they have been improved)

yeah i admit i havent grasped the full new concept yet so i am not gonna give up on it.

Did you even try to craft basic bandages? I think the book thing must be a mistake because I don't have it and I have been crafting bandages since Day 1.

Sorry but your flat out wrong there. Book 6 in that lets you craft cloth from PLANT FIBERS.

You can craft cloth from cotton without any skills or perks and make basic bandages from day 1. Very few items are RNG, and they are mostly luxury items. Every required item can be learned via skills with no RNG

Weird. Knock on wood, havent seen a single screamer yet. My home uses 2 candles, and have one forge, workstation, and chem station. My horde base has 10 torches and 2 electric lights.

Maybe living in the snow biome....help keeps the "heat"map cool lololol.
