Boosting the vegetation would really make forest areas feel more athmospheric.

Here with 4x the tree density.

Ah, my first direct response from MadMole (I think). Yes, I'm English. Yes, I'm enjoying my birthday. Thank you. I love your game. I'm soon to play it (zombies off) with my 5 year old son who loves the building aspect of the game, you've given us a gift with this game.
i got no one to play with. i tried to get my brother to play but he said the game was broken :/.

Agreed, not a huge fan of the whisperers. Now that they've basically got to the end of the comic, I'm curious to see where the show goes.
You're right though, John Dorie might be the best the character on Fear. I do like the trucker's quest for beer too because priorities!
At first the whisperers seemed awesome, I thought they were an evolved zombie showing some kind of intelligence but when they were dudes in zombie masks I was like pffft, dumb. It would have been more interesting if after feeding enough times they regain some intelligence and have sympathy for their fellow zombie brethren and hatred towards humans for not "understanding" etc. Having the zombies be a true antagonist again would be more interesting IMO.

That is awesome. Happy Birthday again!

Its a pretty funny Canadian show about these hicks/jocks/druggies and their petty conflicts.
What you mean there is more then just The Red green Show On that magic glass box 0.o

BUt but but DUCT TAPE FIXES EVERYTHING............

Madmole, what kind of attribute build are you going for in your current game?
I'm doing a fortitude build, mainly because I am playing with nightmare speed zombies and 16 alive. I am struggling for food I have no idea why. I'd reason those first few days not being able to get anywhere or loot anything set me back. Spending days looking for antibiotics instead of stocking up on easy quest (dig for food and cash in on rewards) is a huge game changer. Wasting ammo on regular zombies sprinting at me I'd normally flatten with melee is huge changer too.

Mining a lot lately and base building has kept me not moving enough that my meat supply ran dry. I'm broke too. Very challenging game now with a few tweaks.

They tried to make you think they were evolved zombies by planting a couple false hints... but when I found out they were just people, I was so disappointed. By that point, the show was already leaning too heavily on interactions between people and drama. At one time they presented this concept that people are more dangerous than zombies, and it was good and interesting... but we get it already. When they were in the prison, you really had a sense of how bad things were. At what point did they decide to stop locking themselves up to go to sleep in case they died for any reason? Every single person you are with is a danger to your own safety.

so i thought it would be a good idea 2 harvest some cartons below a gas barrel, which was surrounded by (u guess it) more gas barrels.

155hp, full military armor + armor plates and 60 days alive VS mind blowing stupidity

btw, did u increase death penalty? i was about 1/3 - 1/2 on the progress bar. now im in the red.

There are lots of dense areas, but boosting it more would destroy FPS.
Confirmed. Planted an industrial-sized grove of trees in an otherwise tree-poor area in the last exp. build and a few days later went back near them. It was about mid-day. I think it might have been partly due to calculating all the shadows but FPS dropped dramatically at first then flip-flopped from >1 FPS to 30ish for a couple minutes. Good thing it was just me and the trees in the area. A single zombie would have had its way with me. Smoothed out after a bit, maybe from shadow positions shifting? Still wasn't up to my usual FPS comfort level so I chopped a few dozen down and it got better. I suppose I could have simply turned shadows off and seen how that went but I do like how the game looks a lot...

you have to continue doing whatever grants xp to get back into the blue... but... you also have to avoid dying as it may lower it some more which may be why it increased.

afaik, it wasnt changed.

We had to prototype some stuff to get an idea of what the budget would be to redo stuff. We're on it now, the radiated guys will look completely different most likely, that was just a placeholder. We can save memory and have brand new radiated enemies that aren't clones of regular zombies.
Pretty cool stuff Joel! I'm excited to see more of those reworked zombie skins, the one you showed us on twitter scare the sh** out of me.

Yeah I stopped watching the show cause of all the crying and drama, especially because most of it didn't even make sense.

For years before I stopped watching I would just make fun of the drama and watch it like a comedy.

Like slow zombies are not that difficult... wild animals are more of a threat... poorer places in the world probably wish they only had slow zombies and the few bandits they have to deal with, lel.

With more optimization that will come once the game finally goes into Beta, I hope the Pimps make changes like this. Meanwhile, I need to figure out how to do this for my own maps....

I could imagine that to be an option set at the time of game-initialization (after world generation, when starting the new gameworld), setting this worlds vegetation density.

Advantage: people could also lower it at the start of a new game, when they require more performance on the map.

You'd like a girl with all the gifts (or something like that).
