We are doing some balance, people are getting good gear too soon. This will restore crafting as all the brown guns you find will be crafted into something better, until the loot catches up with you, then later game you will probably loot something better than what you crafted early game. Its not going to be brown forever and there will still be a chance for purple on day 1, but generally we're stretching the crappy gear out a little more is all to make crafting more of a thing again.
sounds great. crafting is fun. looting is fun. design & balance should indeed allow enough time and usefulness for both.

by day 10 i found 2x T2 Q4 weapons and 2x T3 Q1 steel tools. while its fun to get lucky and loot a T2/3 item early, i prefer it`s quality is a bit lowered early game, so at least you get punished by having to fix a lot which is now expensive and keeps u busy.

i like that trade-off. either constantly fix that crap powerful item, or buy the perks and craft a potentially weaker item with better quality. or wait until u can loot a better quality item later on. that is good gameplay.

@madmole, any chance the armor parts will get the same treatment that weapons did? Given that you've got to collect the military fiber recipe AND Military Armor recipe, AND scrap multiple pieces of military armor gear, getting it is rather rough. I'm okay with tough, but when it barely shows up in loot (maybe a gamestage too low issue?) it's frustrating. I'd imagine steel armor is similar for heavy.
Im only on like day 5 and i have already found a few armor and military gear. maybe you have just had bad luck...

Yes those will come in the future and be loot or buy only for sure. 20 or 30k? What do you guys think a legendary should cost at a trader?
Really depends on how much better they are than the base and how hard they are to find. a 4x4 is what? 60k base? And they arent that hard to either buy or get the parts for. Are they going to be harder to find and more unique that a 4x4? If so, more than 60k! If more unique or hard to find than a gyro I dont see people caring about dumping 100k+ either. In short, hard to give a value to something unique without more info

I was thinking you could only get a chance for a legendary item in T6 dungeons like shotgun messiah factory. There should be a legendary chest at the end of the POI that you cant cheese your way too.

A legendary amount :playful:

Seriously though, please be careful with the way you implement legendary items into the game. One thing that killed loot in Diablo 3 is the legendary items became boring best-in-slot items. I think if you have an item that gives awesome buffs/extra abilities/etc., it should come with a trade off of something negative to give a risk/reward type of thing going on. Add on top of it items that have synergies with other items and you could have something good.

My first mission

I started out on my first level one mission from Joe the Trader.

I wanted something easy so I found the closest mission. Less than two hundred meters, This will be both easy and fast, no problem.

Big problem. I cabin was on the other side of the mountain range. Geez's!

Well I could ether go around and spend the night out in the woods (late in the day). Or I could go over them. I love path-finding so I found a way to go over the range. It took some doing but I got though in good time.

The mission was a simple go fetch Cabin 10. I look at it and it looks simple enough, like a one room deal. HA! I go in and find it loaded with passageways. I spent a good amount of time clearing it and gaining a crap-ton of loot. I find the quest item but now the zombies are knocking at the door, no they got through the front door and were banding at the wall which was the only thing between me and it.

While this zombie was aggressive, it wasn't very smart, I just went around through a hole and (walked) right past it LOL. I could not run because I was loaded down with loot you see. :)

The dumb thing was still bashing on the wall but finally came after me but I was already gone.

One thing that I need to remember is to make a drop box or something to drop my loot into before going back to the trader. Otherwise my reward just sits on the traders counter, getting ready to de-spawn. I got that done and was back at my camp before nightfall.

One tip. When fighting with a spear, kiting works, strafing and kiting works better.

MM I have a huge QOL request: can everyone in the party pick up workstations, traps, etc? Right now, only the party member who placed the claim block can pick up these items. I’m the intelligence guy, making traps and putting up electric fences. If I make a mistake or change my mind on placement I then have to track down the claim block person to pick stuff up for me. If you can place stuff, you should be able to pick it up. Thanks.

Yeah, but we have to justify the price. No one, and I mean no one, is going to buy a weapon that is more than 60k if they can buy so much ammo and so many resources with that money. Heck, they could smelt down half those dukes for something that is more worth than a weapon, any weapon, that is worth more than, say, 40k. :p (ie Brass.)

Edit: There's a fine line to cross between them being so cheap that anyone could get them, and so expensive that no one would realistically purchase them. I see everyone taking a 4x4 (unless they already have one) over a weapon any day, esp. since great level 6 weapons are so awesome as it is.

@Madmole

There is a mod that adds a rare chance to find a damaged complete bike in a dumpster... I think that would make a great addition to vanilla, so early game doing quests is even easier.

Also, when you look at improving the hill climbing of the motorcycle, also look at the headlights...they are really dim.

They are in its vehicle xml entry, and bumping the brightness up to 2.5 or 3 looks a lot more realistic without being overblown. ( That makes them about as bright as the lantern, I think.)

So any planned day for another exp update?

When I break a block, I have strange particles that appear. I feel that it dates from the last update. I modified some settings but it doesn't change anything. Nvidia 1060 6go. Did anyone else notice that ?

Yes, I get the same thing.

Could be, but if so we've got 6 or 7 people with bad luck overall. So far on Day 24 we've gotten a random piece here or there and maybe four military armor parts. I got two (crappy Rank 1) drops for military gloves last night that let me make some Tier 3 armor with the other parts we had, but given the volume of looting we've done, I would've expected a touch more. Even with the military bases.

Okay, and if the weapon does 25% more damage. Over time you save 25% bullets right? What if it does 50% more damage? What if is does 500% more damage. We dont know so you cant say "we have to justify the price" cause you dont know how much you're going to save over time, right?

b143 is pretty solid, just by turing off AF really boosts preformance, but I still have to have the resolution of the game low (like 800x600). I hope a build comes out soon to further improve preformance with terrain.

Yes you will be able to craft purple items with random stats. Since its a lot of parts you won't be able to spam craft. Stone tools will still be mid range so players do not try to spam craft the best ones.
We can think about moving it to agility.
I like the Q6 loot only idea. oh well, when legendary items are in it wont matter much.

I also like the mid range crafting mechanic a lot, it keeps looting always interesting. so i hope u wont keep it just for stone tools.

I noticed some weapons are scraped into parts (T3 mostly) and some are into iron/stone.

atm its not clear which items u should scrap, and which u should sell/melt in forge unless you read the description of every item. mb this aspect should be more visible to new players.

so just to clarify -

1. will the random stats crafting apply to Q6 items only ?

2. will the random stats crafting apply to "T2/3 items that are salvaged into parts" only ?

3. on a side note, is there a way to scrap more parts from an item by using some workstation, or can you safely manual scrap them?

I'm not sure they should even be simply for sale. Traders having all the best things for sale is meh.

I'd rather have demolishers drop quest notes. =P

Correct. But let's say you're at the trader, and you have 80,000 dukes on you. You could either, A) Purchase a Motorcycle, tons of ammo, some resources, and save/smelt the rest of your money, or you could purchase a Legendary Weapon. Even if it does 25% more damage than your current weapon, and you will save bullets over time, often, you have to think about the next one or two horde nights from then, not the horde nights 6+ weeks from now. Plus, current high-end T6 weapons are beasts already. In order to justify that exorbitant price, either TFP would have to nerf regular weapons into oblivion, or they would have to make Legendary's so powerful that any other type of weapon could be considered "garbage" by comparison. But if it were balanced to the current system (again, let's say they do 25% more damage than the highest end T6 weapon ever could), would you really spend 60k+ on it? Could you say that most people would?
