Madmole,
I love the aesthetics of the torch and candle but as of right now it's counter intuitive to use a bunch of them because of heat and screamers. I'm not gonna suggest remove heat from them but make a book series or schematic to remove heat from them or recipe for "survival torches/candles" that produce no heat.

The book series could be small footprint or something and each book would remove heat from small producers and slash the amount of large producers, like forges.

For me it's an aesthetic choice. Some play throughs I'll go electric lighting, others I go for that Dracula castle feel.

Just something to consider if you want to make more schematics or books.
I'd be happy if the torches/candles in enclosed areas (cave, interior of windowless structure...) don't add to the heatmap since they can't be seen from where the zombies are. Now you can put dozens of torches in a retired mine and it's a crazy screamer magnet, no ongoing firewood cost. Build yourself a sniper perch a little ways away and farm the free xp as fast as you can reload. (disclaimer: I haven't, just theorizing...)

I like how you think. The whole fire vs electric light heat explanation is not intuitive. Maybe it's time to change it.

Thanks for the answer and yes, campfires would be good for a looooong cooking of paints :) We just need to paint a few things... at the beginning.

Or this ^^.
Gazz to the rescue, I love it!

@madmole

how about

dye + oil + glass jar +electrical component = lava lamp (colour=dye colour)

The title of this picture: "I Own This World."

Sort of majestic, don't you think? :p

Or grungy. It depends on one's taste, I suppose.

Question - are chickens still in the game? I have the Buy The Farm quest and played 30 days but have yet to see a chicken.
Yes. Don't those quests send you to a spot then they all spawn?

@Fun Pimps

The Chemistry station, Workbench, and Cement mixer all feel super slow compared to the Forge with the Advanced Bellows, would you consider adding an upgrade slot and acceleration item to make them faster?

Off site forge is not an exploit IMO. Its smart. I use the trader forge and occasionally see them go over there and bang on the walls lol. I snipe them from my porch.
Yeah, I used to pop a bunch of forges on the hill next to my base, I would burn them 24/7 and potshot the screamers from a leisurely distance.

oh lord please no. Lets not dumb down/remove stuff just because its actually a challenge and not a walk in the park. Players need to adjust there strategies and if they are not capable of doing so, thats there fault. Game should not be dumbed down for the few. Just my opinion *shruggs* :)

Some do. Others, like Nail Some Chicks, still ask you to actively go out and kill 5 random chickens you spot with a nail gun. :p (Hey, at least they're no longer timed.)

Perhaps you could consider replacing that quest (and the others like it, which are so few I cannot remember the others) with a passive quest instead? (Such as, "Kill 10 animals." Reward: 1000 bonus XP and 400 dukes at the trader.") I mean, no offense, but no one is going to scour the desert for chickens with a nail gun, even though the reward is 1 skill point. :p

In most the pois in the bathroom/toilet the cabinet above the sink is literally above the sink how is one spose to wash their hands after using the toilet when you have a cabinet sitting on top of the basin lol

Besides, this is a good reason for someone to get into the electricity part of the game.

Spears, the best starting weapon

The new stone spear is the best starter weapon I have seen so far in Alpha-18.

While not that powerful, it has the best reach of a malay weapon which can keep the enemy out of reach.

Why add the spear? Well it might have something to do with this my article about using a shovel as a spear. :)

https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?85897-Shovel-spears&highlight=shovel+spears

Your welcome! :)

The shovel was very effective then and besides they already had the animation for a spear in the game.

Left click to thrust. Right click (and hold) and release to throw a spear.

The spear does have isn't best against things like boars and wolves so I also carry a shotgun as soon as I can get it. Don't forget to load it. All firearms now come unloaded.

Well anyways, the spear is great!
