I tend to aim for the chest and only throw in close quarters, and have a backup weapon when I inevitably miss.
also, been drawing 7dtd fanart for the past couple days in addition to my scarecrow character for inktober and not sure where I can post it on this forum so the general megathread is as good as place as any really.

I love it! Great Job!

Yeah we'll see. I do want to make generic mud and blood covered walking dead like zombies for the hordes. Special ones you never see, and leave the distinguished ones out of horde night. I always felt it was immersion breaking to see cheerleaders and football players in hordes just for the sake of variety. In the walking dead no one zombie stands out, they are all kind of the same and that is how I want our hordes to be. We could save memory and performance doing this as we could instantiate more of the same model.

At a minimum maybe we will just cover the existing zeds in more dirt and blood and desaturate their clothing further. But I'd rather make some special blood moon zeds for this, like these are the crazy ones that only come out once a week on blood moons, and that explains their ability to know where players are.
To further comment on AtomicUS post about this long talked ago about topic, is this still in the cards? Just caught up on Walking Dead and man those Oceanside zeds looked creepy as f. I would totally be down with Wandering Hordes and Blood Moons full of about 2-5 different models of lower rez art of mud soaked rotting walkers. Especially if it means both better performance and the possibility of more being added to their groups.

I love the ones we have now but if those were given more abilities, or even just have higher HP i could 100 percent get behind hordes of these rotters. I LOVE their look too so the more grimier and skeletal looking the better. Sorry for off topicing you MM.

Would it still do that if the dedicated server is installed on a completely separate drive ? Also, I have PersistentPlayerProfiles set to true, and my character did not die. I was exactly where I was on the map, 0 deaths etc.
Since the generated worlds are stored in your personal space it shouldn't matter.

If you had PersistentPlayerProfiles true then I don't have a better idea than using the dedicated ONLY for generating the world, not playing. Also this doesn't sound like intended behaviour and you could file a bug report.

Am I reading this right - we now have Bullet Proof Zombies and you need AP to take them out ?
That's a big negative if true.
we do not have bullet proof zombies... you just need AP for better armor penetration against some of them. :)

like... dont throw rocks at a tank if you have a rocket to even up the fight.

i get some from looting/quest rewards and traders :) not able to make AP yet in my game... just takes more regular ammo if i run out of AP.
So it works literally as it should then. Normal ammo can take it out but it takes a lot more of it so get working. AP takes it out faster. Sounds good to me. AP rounds were useless in 17 because they were overkill. Now they are just right and can help win a fight.

Day 35 no deaths was rushing to add things before blood moon . Pack still full with my top good gear ran out of time horde came they broke in I died no backpack it disappeared . Never played with out not dropping packs but after this sting I may lol.

AP rounds were in A17? I don't think so... I know we had steel ammo... :p

Checked my gamestage just now; it's 120. I believe it was 110 at the start of the horde. Currently, I am level 50; just maxed out Fortitude.
Luckily, I found 2 Rad Removers while looting, as well as the schematic to craft it. Plus, I found the book that allows me to craft drum magazines. I've yet to find the book that allows me to craft AP 7.62 ammo, though. :/

I currently have 30,000 coal sitting in storage. All I need is a boat load more nitrate, and brass. (I have no need to worry about lead; I have about 50k worth in several veins I found, sitting there, yet to be mined.)

Currently I am sitting at 3,500 7.62 ammo. I'll be spending the next week doing pretty much nothing but car wrenching sessions/brass loot runs. The zombies barely touched my base, only managing to destroy one block, so my base is surely secure for day 28. It's ammo that's my biggest concern right now.
With a slowed down day cycle of 90 minutes that means your hordes will physically go on 1.5x longer too, once the numbers are enough.

I hope something like security cameras can be added in the future :) . We already have motion sensors but I think it'd be cool if you could like access a camera so you could see an area where you placed it without actually going there. Useful for checking out what's outside without having to actually poke your head out.
Yeah seems like we have a similar function already when you aim a turret so it wouldn't be too hard probably.

That's good to know. ^^ Well, that's bad, but you know what I mean. ;) Just know that whenever I mention x horde night, if you want to convert it to standard horde nights, add an extra 7 days on top of it, of course. ;)

What if the distribution of your loot tables regarding books & schematics was gamestaged ? Forge could be a 25%+ chance in the first week, then go down as the game progresses. You don't have to balance out every book, just customize the odds for those super early requirements and distribute the rest evenly among the other ones.
As a side note, the game now runs super smooth for me (even before the last patch, I can't wait to try it out ^^). Talking constant 60 fps, even though i'm not playing on ultra. The bottleneck was my RAM, had 1x8gb 2400mhz, replaced that with 2x8gb 3200mhz and it's like night and day. (rig : B350M-A MB, RX480 Sapphire 4gb, Ryzen 1600)

Also runs wayyyy better for my friends, I guess I used to be their bottleneck (I host the game).
That could be bad if you build a base the early game stage or don't hit any book stores, then start looting later game and miss the boat on the early gs ones.

Yep ram is the cheapest no brainer upgrade.

Oh I forgot to add, I think the random stats are an awesome addition, that being said I still think the range is way over the top, specifically the overlap. As I see it, a Q1 should sometimes be better than a Q2, rarely better than a Q3, but (almost?) never better than a Q4. Finding out a Q6 can in rare instances be worse than a Q1 is just too much gap imo.
I disagree, if the overlap was minimal it would always be a no brainer upgrade and be less interesting. Right now you can find something with good damage but horrible durability that makes you keep it instead of upgrading to a better durability item that does a bit less damage. I'm good at bone scavenging and I'm a duct tape factory so I don't mind extra repairs needed.
