@MadmoleBen "A18 is like they went from A16 to A18 skipping A17. Its like they took all the good stuff from A17 and junked the bull♥♥♥♥. Dude you were right, A18 plays and feels like A16 again, I;m so ♥♥♥♥ing happy"

My brother just said this on the phone when i asked him what he thinks.
I'm glad he likes it.

I'd like random stats for crafting but not allow t6 crafting. That level should remain loot only. But just like random stats have juiced up exploration, static mid-range stats for crafting have killed that part of the game or at least made it unexciting.
Another thought would be to allow for some limited LBD crafting on increasing the stats slightly on weapons and tools you've already crafted. The loot only parts help gate the frequency of crafting the same thing so nobody is going to be spam crafting compound bows. You are limited to the parts you've been able to find. But it might give crafting some juice if the player knows that the second or third compound bow he crafts will be slightly better.

First crafted bow: Midrange stats

Second crafted bow: Midrange stats +1

Third crafted bow: Midrange stats +2

etc. up to a ceiling.

Then crafters can become expert craftsmen in the things they perk into and it isn't general LBD and spam crafting on everything.
That's just bringing back spam crafting. I would make everything repeatedly even if the resources to make it were rare. Delayed spam crafting is spam crafting nevertheless. Why not just spend one weapon in the workbench to improve the stats of another weapon? Self crafted weapons could be used the same way. The weapon parts' rarity gate will do the rest.

I like your idea and mine. And also both together.

@madmole any tips for playing as an agility character? Obviously my main strength is using stealth and not outright combat. But in those moments where I have to defend myself, I feel like I'm so squishy even with the armor pieces I've found.
Pistol with silencer and mag extender has some pretty nice stopping power, and get all the pistol perks and books. keep an Ak on your belt for oh ♥♥♥♥ situations until you can get an SMG or magnum. Always open up with a sneak shot to get the double damage and aim for the head to get the headshot bonus that multiplies with sneak shot damage.

Do the various mineral deposits (iron, lead, etc.) appear on the map like stone/boulders do?
Hmmm I don't recall giving them a specific map color so we might have overlooked that. But if it extends the base material as it should, they probably show up. Take a look a the next node you find and then check the map.

Gotcha. Will we still be able to shovel up our crafted and placed boxes to get a full planter box in order to relocate? I definitely don't want to experiment right now with it.
Nope, once its down thats it.

Ohhh. Today, for 24 in-game hours, I mined up 36,000 coal. Maybe that was a bit excessive, no? :p (I tend to spend entire days mining. As in, the whole day, night included.)
Also, on a side note, you know the air conditioners? (Pictured below.) You mentioned how they are supposed to drop brass radiators. Well, I can confirm that after wrenching over a dozen of them... I got no radiators. Loot table bug?

you sure it wasnt the oil heater radiators ?

The randomness is another reason why the parts were combined.

Intellect: there is 1 gun

Perc: 2 guns

Agi: 3 guns

If all parts drop equally per attribute the int guy finds 3x the parts.

If all parts drop equally per gun then the Agi guy finds 3x as many parts because he can use all 3.

There is no solution to this situation. We changed the problem so that it became solve-able. =P

There is a 70% chance to get a radiator if wrenched. You had bad luck.

25 up to 40 fps on ULTRA with my potato Radeon RX590 - 8GB -1920x1080 :02.47-tranquillity: I had sometimes less fps on a medium setting before. With A18.0 this was unplayable, now it runs like on speed ^^

Nice!

Edit: This was still with AF set to 2x. Maybe i can now set the AF back to usual :-)
You call that a potato? Ha!!

Gtx 560m

intel i7-2670qm

12gb ram ......... 7yr old laptop

Can someone clarify if explosive bolts, grenades, and contact grenades are supposed to do damage to structures or not? I'm testing now and they seem pretty useless unless used against zombies. Couldn't even blow up a wooden park bench.

TNT seems to do fine

They wreck the crap out of zombies but don't do a ton of block damage. My base got f'd up from using grenades, I kind of wish it did 0 block damage to concrete and above.

That's not a bad idea. Or at least have it do -some- damage, as it should. Just not over the top. But anything under that should definitely see some damage. Especially wood. I couldn't even get a car to explode using a grenade, which seemed off to me.

I also noticed that using a rocket launcher at a group of zombies was a bit unsatisfying. It killed a few in the huge clump, but many just stood right back up.

please do rwgmixer for 16x16. rwg creates the world 3/4 empty. Apparently because it uses parameters for 8x8

ps

where is skyscrapers and old buildings?

I fixed a ton of new textures that did not have streaming enabled, so this helps reduce vram which if you run out of your fps tanks to single digits usually. So it does, but it doesn't solve the terrain being slow yet, or the random issue of getting very slow fps for no reason.
This build runs better for me. Solid 5 fps more on average. Still bad but I noticed the improvements.
