But you lose some of it when you scrap it. That's one of those tough choices that this game gives you. If you're desperate enough for brass because you're running low on ammo, you can choose to carry the doorknobs, the trophies, the radiators, etc and ditch some of the other stuff you want to carry. In return for making that choice, you get more brass when you smelt it.
Exactly. I never scrap brass.

I am hungry, eat 8 cornbread, get food poisoning. Need to eat again, eat 10 cornbread. Food poisoning. Again and again. This is worse with baked potatoes, lets not talk about yucca :p And as vitamin pills are not craftable and the mineral water/red tea are not working most of the time it seems.

PROPOSAL: lower the chance of food poisoning for the 'small' craftable portions (like 1 or 2%)

It is OK for the stews and what have you. I do like a challenge.

-- I am playing on a busy server and looting/buying enough canned food is hard.

BTW, the new farming system is fun. It is hard to get enough rotten flesh to start your farm, a new challenge added to the game. :excitement:
This is why you should cook bigger and more hearty meals every time you eat you roll the dice, so eating less frequent higher calories meals is best. Or simply buy iron gut perk.

It just feels backwards to have to work hard to get it worse..
Not sure I get this part. You can work hard at farming/cooking and lower, not worsen, your chances of getting poisoned. If you eat 10 cornbread, you have have to risk a 4% chance of getting poisoned 10 times. If you eat a high grade food like a stew, you might only need to risk that 4% chance once or twice. More work, lower risk.

You can skip farming totally and work hard at earning dukes and finding all the vending machines around. More work for less risk.

Either way the harder you work the better off you are.

It is, but look out some POI has farmplot in them as boundry, you can use shovel to pick them up. yesterday only I pick 8 farm plot from one of small house..which use it. much easier to create your own.
Yesterday is the key word. That crap is fixed. People need to earn their farms one gore pile, vulture or zombie dog at a time.

Definitely with lead it should all be scrap. Brass however is still the weak link and if someone wants to micro everything to get a little more brass then that should be allowed.
So just delete batteries?

Food poison is way different and aggressive, I used to eat Can food in A17, I eat 2-3 can at one go while clearing POI, as that way I don't have to carry food and keep my inventory free from it. I hardly get food poisoning ever. But in A18, you eat 4-5 item with poison rating and you get it. Either it was broken or the percentage written is only visual and reach percent in much higher in A18.
Or I am just unlucky in A18 ?
You are just unlucky. You will get it 1 out of 25 times. Eat vitamins then fill up on garbage foods, save cans for questing and away from the base.

Here is my opinion regarding some changes.
Food poisoning:

I neither like it nor hate it. It's just here. However... I have some issues with this mechanic early in the game as it prevents me from playing the way I would prefer. If you are a player who interact with trader this mechanic becomes meaningless since the day one. Start buried treasure quests or just go for fetch/clean missions and get more than enough food to ignore poison mechanic.

For me playing with trader is like using easy mode that comes with a cost of tedious "go 2km one way to clear house in no time, get back and grab another travel 2km quest".

If you are a player like me who prefer to ignore trader, poison mechanic is an overkill early in the game. I had whole 35 pieces of grilled meat in a day 1 and you know what happened once i decided to eat some food to fill my hunger? I ate everything but in the end i dropped from something about 70 hunger to 60. Even if i don't like it i had to a trader and start questing. From this point i never had any problems related to "food poison" anymore.
It's risk vs reward. Sure you can spend your first day doing buried treasure quests to get food. Have you actually tried this? You burn a lot of food digging and running around. The net gain might not be as big as you think but let's say it is.

So while you were digging for food to make poisoning irrelevant, you were not - building a base, looting better tools & weapons or finding schematics and books to learn new things.

Spending all your time digging for food will solve that one problem but what of the rest?

I think it makes time management a thing. Not everyone wants to play the same way as you so you have to pick your poison (pun intended)

Okay, so are we finally past the "wow and wonderment look at a18 and how pretty it is" stage to talk about some glaring issues?...it's boring...snippity snip snip...
Geez Gups, I haven't even played yet lol.

i was expected to get rick rolled lol..

Coffee boosts your damage against ore and you can stack 3 for about 9 minutes of non stop ass kicking mining.
So can u stack 3 black coffee ( w.e the miner book one is) and get i think it was 15-16 minutes total? (6m per stack @ 3 stacks)

well i really don't know how rads work but that was my best guess
With radiation, it would depend on how long ago the nukes dropped. With growing crops, Cesium is probably the worst.

Cesium-137 is dangerous because plant roots absorb it and then people could eat the plant products. If more than 30 years, it would lose half its radiation. Unfortunately, it could take over 100 years for the Cs-137 to filter down a foot in the soil!

My theory, is America tried to nuke the infected areas as a last resort of self preservation. "Better to lose a little than lose it all".

If Russia and the US did a full nuclear exchange of weapons... The game would have been called "7 Days to.. oops your dead already!" :D

To clarify, oh Moliest of Madmoles... farm plots will no longer exist in the next Experimental update?

I'm a tad ambivalent about that personally. It does make food too easy... on single player. On multi-player with 5-7 folks doing co-op, it's about the only thing keeping us from being stuck at Level 10 from starvation. Even then it's been pushing our luck.

Iron Gut perk has actually got a lot going for it along with decreasing your chance of getting food poisoning
I still will never buy it, I like the risk of vomiting and worrying about food and drink just a tad bit. My play style puts 1000's of meat in the box, so I'm enjoying it.

Hello @Mad Mole,Something is broken. I'm playing on a crowded server, and this happened to me when I reached level 3x and rank 5 of Lucky Looter, I've never could have better loot, only Grey/level 1 quality items, from Safes and Reinforced Chests any more.

I also tested on single play by running some commands to reach high level and level 5 of Lucky Looter, and same result of course.

Are you saying at a certain rank of lucky looter you only saw pink items or only saw brown/grey items?
