The canned food is in a can it was sheltered from the nuclear fall out and ensuing virus spreading.

Where as the ground and any living thing animal and hooman that has been in contact with it is infected/carrying it etc.. make a total sense.

For tfp to come up with a actual story behind something makes me also believe this system is a final system. Maybe a bit of a touch up here n there but it should stay.. other then that mods can change things later to that people make that they are not happy with etc
I think the current implementation of food poisoning is not too different then how it is in fallout. The difference in that game is eating food gives you health but also increases your radiation level which needs to be maintained by the player.

Sorry MM, I know you think you're great at this game, but the fact remains that as long as you dumb down the game to meet your skill level because you think xyz is too hard, you're ostracizing the rest of us.

Threats are few and far between, going into poi's is even a yawn fest, blood moons end at midnight and there is no depth.

Yes it's prettier, the sun is brighter, the sky is darker, the weapons are shinier, blah blah blah, but the game itself, although MUCH more polished than previous versions (lots of placeholders replaced), it ends at about day 28.
Not going to shut you down. It is a very very common thing.

any idea what that will be?

also there a bug there in gavestone where you can see through the floor and it can launch you back.

 
Now that´s just silly. Trying to justify food poisoning with radiation. Food poisoning is a microbial hazard, while radiation is a chemical one. Until radiation is in and we see acute radiation syndrome from exposed food, your stance is a non-sequitur.
You are taking things too literally. Does it makes more sense if we forget about radiation and just say there is something in the environment that is in all plants and animals and makes humans sick? Maybe it's an alien life form, maybe it's magic, maybe it's some new form of particle that was not previously discovered. Who knows? Why is this so important to cram into a logic box?

 
It doesn't even have to be radiation. This is a fictional apocalypse. Can be magic or some kind of parasite or chemical. The only limit is your imagination.
Agreed... problem is the game doesn't label/describe things this way.

 
Hi @MadmoleIs possible to do something about all the books and schematics after you read one to tell later in game when you find it again "its read" or " you know already this recipe"? TY :D
You mean look at the icon that shows if its read or not? :D

 
So the "reward" for setting up a farm is getting food poisoning , while the "reward" for using the vending machine ishealthy food?

Sounds like it is vending machine survival for me once i get enough time to play A18 properly.
The reward of farming is more food so you can make the food poisoning irrelevant.

And being able to survive using vending machines is a feature in my opinion. There should be more than just one way to survive.

I predict:

I will be shut down quickly because I'm probably posting this prematurely, and all of the people who eagerly awaited a18 will still be fawning over it, but in a month or so others will share my sentiment
Be careful using the therm "rest of us" as from my perspective the games pretty fun for the "rest of us" besides you. =)

then there will be zombies with arms that work like wings and fly around , zombies rolling like meatballs and zombie mole!!!! lol

Alpha 18 looks good.Alpha 18 feels great.

But....

Boiled Water has a chance for Dysentery by 3%.

Cocked Food has Food Poisoning between 4 an 13 %.

Food Can do not have Food Poisoning.

WHAT?!?

Why should i make a garden with Plants?

Why should i go to hunt Animals anymore?

Just wait for a Airdrop and feel lucky.

Please tell me that this is a mistake and wil be fixed.

What made the game boring for you? What changes in A18 removed depth of you? You should give constructive criticism to TFP instead of posting and then saying that you shouldn't have posted yet anyway...

 
I love how people selectively choose when realism rules apply. Its quite humorous. Since anyone can use it whenever they wish to state their point is correct, and then go and turn around and say it would not work because its just a game.
Like you get mad because zombies are supposed to be dumb and its just not realistic they would know where you are, then we can say the idea of farming being safe would not work because MUH REALISM.

I was just trying to throw people a bone in this debate. Personally i love the way it is now. And farming is STILL too easy. Prove me wrong.

@MadMole, really enjoying the new Alpha (just like I said before), a few small suggestions:

The "Craft wood frames with wood" loading tip is super useless. It should be removed and changed with something more useful like "Right click to power attack"

Also, trader doors should be automatically closed when the trader closes (or any time traders are loaded after unload). It's kind of weird to open the doors to the traders, leave them open, then come back after a few days and still see them open.

I think now it's time to do some cleanup.

Imo noone needs 3 kinds of brass (4 including radiators). Simplyfy door knobs, trophies etc. to just scrap brass.

Same for lead, too. I think most of us scrap it already to save inventory space, ignoring the loss of material.
Its a choice, lug it around or scrap it.

if you update the water what would you do with it?

add loot? , fishing? , gator hunting?, water zombies??.

im sorry about the questions. my mind runs like a racehorse
