We'll get this next patch out and see where things are at. You guys are great keep up the good work. I'm very optimistic about all the textures that weren't set to streaming I found, this should get people better fps who were vram bound and probably give everyone a bit of a boost I hope. Faatal already got his potato getting 50-60 fps but the terrain is ugly. We're getting there.

 
@faatal, disabling AF helps A LOT. Now the game runs the best it ever did for me, pretty good outdoors and great indoors. Using a GTX 1050 Ti btw.

I don't understand why some people don't get that this is an experimental build of an early access game...

Also, a YouTuber had huge performance issues on b139 but didn't on b134.

He managed to do a workaround to get the performance back by disabling Anisotropic Filtering and Ambient Occlusion.

 
Game day 26, still have not found a desert biome. This really sux because the biomes.xml indicates oil shale has zero chance of spawning anywhere but desert biome. All the other ores have a small chance to spawn in non-preferred biome, why not oil shale?
How about a small chance of spawning oil shale, at least in the burnt forest if not all biomes.

This going to bite folks and certainly biting here.

There is 10 miles of desert out there, just keep looking you can't miss it. Plenty of gas harvesting cars and clunky oil co, and in misc barrels.

The streaming issue fix will not change things for people who doesn't use streaming, correct?

I don't have FPS issues so I don't use it. I run at max setting (2560x1440 res) except for AA and reflections which are off and get between 35-70fps.

The game probably needs 6+ gigs of vram if you aren't streaming. Why make your card push all those giant textures around when it can just use tiny mips? its much more efficient afaik unless you have a really poor cpu I would encourage everyone to use it. I guess try it with and without and decide if it helps or not. I'm making a build now and will see if I make any gains from it.

 
I’m thinking if they make changes to RWG and pregen the maps again they will be different than the map u are saved on.

If that is the case, copying the pregen from the game file to my PCs file should resolve that. Otherwise why not just make new Pregen instead of messing with older ones. Kinda makes you not want to risking using a pregen world in the future.

 
Why would the pregen maps need a wipe but the own rolled ones not need a wipe? What would be different?

I didn't get all the tech bits, but I do know they tagged all the POIS which means more pois can spawn so we're updating the pregen maps, so obviously they will be different. Some splat changes too, so there might be visual errors. If you back up your map and overwrite it you could keep playing, just remember it might get stomped in an update. I'm just going to start over, this should be the last wipe IMO, or I'll roll my own map.

Thanks, I'll save a copy of PREGEN01 to my local user file and after the update there are errors I'll overwrite the new with the old.

 
So, all of my graphics settings were set to "allow application" to decide the AA and all settings, I suppose 7 days was overriding that. I turned to Performance Mode and wow, I now have 20-30 FPS even while riding the motorcycle! Granted, pure potato settings, but hey I could care less about graphics lol. Man the game feels so good now... I am on day 3 and saw a dire wolf on a hillside. After whiffing like 15 arrow shots I finally landed one and it charged me - threw a spear at it and the stun baton I found saved my ass haha - then a buzzard joined the party soon as I killed it and got me infected lmao. Got some antibiotics from a trader quest so that wasn't too bad. But man, the fear factor definitely is back in the game. I can tell once the ground texture optimizations or whatever you're all working on gets done game will be butter smooth. I hit 60-70 FPS while indoors! :D Really enjoying myself with it.

I think the farming tooltip needs to be changed, I was rather confused when it told me to get fertilizer and a hoe to upgrade dirt when in fact the hoe was removed and you craft a farm plot. Only confuzzled me for a good 10 mins, but it may really bugger out a new player. Love the sass in the skill tree and the new note you spawn with - had me a chuckle!

Typically its a mandatory restart in experimental at least we have options.

 
It’s age. We all get more calm as we age. At 35 I stopped streaking across our local sports fields during games.

@madmole I really like A18 so far, but I personally think that level 6 items shouldn't be in the trader's load out. I have yet to find anything level 6 in loot (I adore that, it'll make when I do find one much more special), but it kind of takes away from the specialness of looting when I can just run over to Trader Rekt and buy a level 6 knife. I think level 6 should be loot only, I want that purple color to invoke pure excitement when I find it in a backpack.

Not casting fault or blame, it is what it is. I'm just glad to be able to play again after 16 months off due to A17. A18 brings the fun back.

 
Is it likely the new experimental is due today or tomorrow? I really want to play but I'm scared of having my progress wiped right after starting...

 
it's experimental, if you are afraid, get out. play a17.4.
