I Honestly cannot for the life of me, understand how people game at horse #$^! settings. That would make me go bonkers and quit PC gaming all together!!!#PCmasterrace
I would like to think it's because people like Tetrameth and myself have learned how to manage perceptions and expectations. Not everyone may have the capabilities to have high end gaming rigs. (I built a $6000 Gigabyte based rig 4 years ago that placed #124 out of millions on 3Dmark. BUt I can't afford to do that again...)

I would like to think of it this way:

I Honestly cannot for the life of me, understand how people would play anything besides 7 Days To Die with any kind of rig capable of doing so. That would make me go bonkers and quit PC gaming all together!!!

300. IMO its kind of pointless, you don't play skyim or fallout with every perk, you make a build with strengths and weaknesses. I typically restart after 100 hours or so around level 80, its enough for me. With one tree maxed out around level 50 if your smart, you will be a killing machine. Being a killing machine in all weapons is pointless. At 100 hours you will have most the books and pretty close to the best gear, so its kinda meh after that IMO. But to each his own, I don't think anyone can get to level 300 though without cheating even with max xp settings, and be sane. MIght take 4000 hours on one guy, its unknown.
That's how YOU play, let's be clear. =) Your game, your rules. But let's not forget that other people play this game too. ;)

Sitting inside a dimly lit building on night 2 crafting an extra torch so I could see when I hear a wandering horde run right past my base. Didn’t see a thing but heard a LOT of feet running by...that was f&$king awesome!

Thanks for making the nights scary again TFP!

You seem to be new here, so welcome to the forums. Try running a google search for the definition of 'alpha' also, whilst you are at it, learn about the differences between a game with a static environment as opposed to a fully destructible environment.

As I said, I'm so sorry to hear that you cannot get your mind past your 'numbers game' to enjoy 7dtd. Meanwhile I'll be over there enjoying myself, hope to see you there soon.

There should be wilderness POIS spread between towns to keep things interesting, but maybe there is a bug in the burnt biome, I haven't spent a ton of time there.
There is a small chance for ferals to spawn at night, so you have been lucky so far I would say. Lots of people are getting rekt, and I will tell you that you got very lucky to not have died so far, because it happens. One great game, then a really rough one can happen.
Theres a nearby town, and world deco looks more dense there.

I'm on day 14, and unlocked the bicycle on day 12, and that weels about right. (btw the run toggle for the bike is PERFECT! Hat's off to Fataal for getting that in before launch. I hope he managed to that to all the vehicles, because it feels aaa control wise now.

On my i7 6700 and 1060 3gb, I'm getting about 50 fps average at 2k, so the only disappointment is the medium textures, and that horrible looking tiling distant terrain texture. I'd rather see it blurred than almost mistake ground for skyscrapers.

Play wise the game feels GREAT! I see why MM loves a18 so much!

There are some crafting dumb downs that feel like over simplification to me:

I liked making tallow for candles. That makes real world sense, and added satisfaction to finally getting fat to base and making them.

It makes sense to me that mechanical things repair with repair kits, but repairing tools IMHO was better the old way, requiring their base material. Fixing steel tools and wrenches is too easy now, since I don't have steel now. Looting is great, but crafting needs to have some depth and value as well, and I think its possibly been over simplified fr the Fortnite crowd.

(Fortunately the old material repair is mostly easy to rix in xml.)

And I did finally get wrecked at night coming back to base overloaded. I still haven't found a mining helmet, and in the dark I couldn't see well enough to react fast enough to a feral. Lesson learned.

Are mining helmets craftable by found recipe only now, or can flashlights go into other headgear? 2 game weeks without head lamps is annoying.

I also have yet to find where the perks are to craft better quality tools. I have the nerd glasses and fgured they should allow me to craft tier 2 shovels, but I still only crafted a teir 1. (Which I can craft without the glasses.) Maybe the nerdy glasses have a bug?

FWIW, a18 already beat the pants off a17 here for me, and is restoring that old a16/a15 love again.

I get different color flashes when I uses my scroll wheel. Blue, etc....

I have to admit though, much more 3 D or lifelike, feel like I could hop right in the Car & drive off, nice job...

No problem with performance or FPS with a 4 GB card & 16GB R, CPU is fast

RWWG is totally broken for my AMD, even prefab, just the color flashes in NAV.

You'll be surprised how many of us will get to 300 and 1000 hours in a solo gameplay if you keep adding cool stuff.

Level 300 is, current a18 system, about day 700ish. I played one multiplayer game with a couple of friends in a17.4 for 203 hours and got to level 198.

It's not uncommon to see servers running for several hundred hours.

Aim for 1000 hours of thrilling content and we will be buying coffee mugs until the rise of the robots.

Small request. Can there be a chance that there are NO mountains on maps? Seems like the only flat areas are the cities and roads. I live in a mountainous area and these maps are crazy.

I'm wondering if all these mountains are what's causing the FPS drop.

Why does the game freeze randomly and force me into native resolution when fullscreened?

Also I wish I could just have a silent hill fog to be in the framerate dimension cos being outside is crap.

Your mileage will vary. Depends on how close you are sitting to running out of VRAM.
Mem command is triggering a flush of the old high res texture atlases, which is a subset of all textures in the game. These seem to also be getting loaded on startup and staying in mem for a while.
Startup on release builds seems fine. It was just a problem with dev builds.

Haven't tried this myself, but looks like the game is using Antisotropic Filtering - if you want to lessen that tiling effect you could try forcing the AF to say 4X or so in the Nvidia Control Panel and then the edges beyond that will blur out in the distance.

It turns out the near terrain is using the same material and shader, so the high res textures are being used close up.
There appears to an issue with changing the texture quality option that some textures of other qualities are still loaded. Typing "mem" in the console will do an unload unused resources, which appears to fix that. Restarting the game would also fix it.

We continue to research.
One thing I'd like to see is an option to keep zombie textures full. (We used to have that with the old UMA zombies) Since they get so up close and personal I'd think you guys would always want them to look the best.

Again, thanks MUCH for tha controller run toggle... it works perfectly! (BTW, did you just add it to the bike, or all vehicles?)

Try not to work too hard Fataal... we appreciate it, but don't kill yourself over issues. It'll all get sorted in the end somehow.

His name IS Fataal... ;) Yeah, don't work yourself to death, but... close is ok. ;)
