gahhh help me senpai. i need to play 7 days but the fps is making me go back to league of legends for the ease of wrecking kids
i hope they fix it cuz (granted my pc isn't the best but its average it can run 7DTD very well on mid settings on A17)

but apparently on A18 it runs like a cash register

@ everyone with a Radeon card:

Try editing your serverconfig.xml section World.

Insert your World size and Seed like this (replace it with your wishes)

<property name="GameWorld" value="RWG"/>

<property name="WorldGenSeed" value="NCC-1701A"/>

<property name="WorldGenSize" value="10240"/>

<property name="GameName" value="JamesKirk"/>

<property name="GameMode" value="GameModeSurvival"/>

Then start 'startdedicated.bat'

Don't worry, it takes really long (this seed&size 50min on an i7-8700k/16GB with Radeon RX480/8GB) !

I got a playable world with smooth surface and no tall ridges (like a combed landscape).

Stop the server, and restart a normal game.

That's it

Yesterday I wondered why it took only 5:28min to generate a 8k map. With every 2nd row missing, it was only half the time ;-)

EDIT: Forgot line with seed

Naz is a pre generated world, hence it knows whats going on, the RWG is random generated, so it needs to bild as it goes, load times are more, the terrain is not predetermined by the system etc etc
No. That's not how it works. RWG is generated before you play the game. It doesn't build it as it goes. Both navezgane and rwg load chunks as you move around the world. But that's loading the chunks, not generating it.

And like i said, there's no performance difference playing the game using either worldmaps.

This isn’t true any longer as of A17. Random worlds are now also pregenerated just like Navezgane. RWG and Nav operate the same way once the map is created.

Running:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor

GeForce RTX 2070 - 8GB

32 GB DDR4-2666

1 TB WD Blue SSD

And I get a solid 60FPS never up or down... is there some setting I am missing to set max FPS?

all this hype of MM saying better fps performance etc and its actually worse
Just because you keep saying it doesn’t make it true. Your performance may be worse, but not across the board. They are working on making the improvements be experienced by the majority.

In A17, RWG was changed to function like Navezgane. I don’t remember the specifics of how or why, but that was the stated result.

Anybody else seeing massive RAM usage for the game, even after quitting the game back to the main menu? I noticed temperature spikes of the GPU/CPU during the game, and after getting back to the main menu the game still kept on using ~9 GB of RAM.

Major Marquus de Chad moment, fighting a daylight horde @day2 in wetlands.

The rage mechanic should be tied to a burst damage variable, lest power attacks (I.e. spear throw then bow) become an exploit

Gotta say, mountain lions made me crouch again after a year 👻

Well.. In my case there's no improvement over A17. It's not worse than A17, there's that, but it's definitely not better.

^ I have seen a lot of issues with some distance terrain shader. The nice yellow letters in the command prompt or whatever its called (flay me please). Wonder what is causing it..?

I did explain it. But in simple terms, too many hi res textures that don't fit on low end graphics cards.
I have a 1080TI and the game is unplayable with full rez textures (even with every other setting on low). There's something funky with them that's causing large performance issues. I'll get fps in the 50s but there's a quarter to half second delay on movements/looking around. Almost feels like mouse acceleration or vsync or something but those aren't on.

I will definitly try that ! Thank you.

Any reason you took 10240 as size ?

I wonder what changed from MM's plays to Experimental for this and the menu lag when in the crafting menu etc (mouse freeze as well)

I don’t think it’s the textures as it would affect me also as I have a 1080ti. I have over 60fps and computer is universally capped at 90fps for smooth play in games.

With vsync off.

Cap frames to either 58/60/90

I have options on high some on ultra with motion blur off, and so far it’s working well.

Hmm. What CPU and resolution are you playing at? 2560 x 1440 and 7700K for me.

Other games I never have to worry about textures due to the GPU's massive amount of memory, so I was surprised when this was the culprit of poor performance. Just setting them to half textures nearly doubles my performance.

Just have to pop in quick to say; I'm loving A18. Even with the little things I had my reservations over, it all faded in to the background. Having a blast since launch. Should probably take some more breaks to stretch the legs and all that... Awesome job.

Is it alright depending so much on that attribute for mastering all tools? Tools should be like weapon crafting. The Wrench is obvious where it belongs . Miner69r for pickaxes, maybe... also shovels (Might be Ok to have 6 tools with similar objective I guess...). Hammer and nailgun... well... Grease Monkey perk? . I don't know. It wouldn't hurt a second pass of MM's wisdom on that stuff. It's not that you are not right when you insist on the subject of KISS, but 12 tools behind a perk is a little too "must have" ain't it? I'm not that hands-on a18 yet so correct me if I'm wrong.
Then it turns into A17 where you need every perk in the game just to feel basic. Not everyone thinks building or mining is fun. The best tools are under "loot".
