Is it alright depending so much on that attribute for mastering all tools? Tools should be like weapon crafting. The Wrench is obvious where it belongs . Miner69r for pickaxes, maybe... also shovels (Might be Ok to have 6 tools with similar objective I guess...). Hammer and nailgun... well... Grease Monkey perk? . I don't know. It wouldn't hurt a second pass of MM's wisdom on that stuff. It's not that you are not right when you insist on the subject of KISS, but 12 tools behind a perk is a little too "must have" ain't it? I'm not that hands-on a18 yet so correct me if I'm wrong.
I agree. Miner69r is maybe too powerful for a single perk. Seeing how intellect isn’t supposed to be a character build on its own, maybe it belongs in there? I dunno. I really think something might need some tweaking on that. I’m still having fun so far, despite the FPS and mouse lag (which I’ve remedied for the time being)!

18 had to be big because of the perk overhaul, we needed all the new weapons to flesh out each play style and make each build feel unique. Books were easy to do with the new framework and more will come in future alphas.
I love what you are saying, and that my hyperbolic state has infected you and many others :) I wrote the Duke's note, I'm glad you liked it :)

Now that we feel the game is in a great spot smaller updates will finally be possible.
A18 is a homerun so far. Runs great, tons of great additions and improvements, RWG is massively better, world is threatening, and on and on. Fantastic work TFPs!

This gets 60 and its a top of the line system....something is definitely going on lol

I just went and tried this on the worst GPU I had that had this problem A GTX 660 TI SC 2GB. I teleported to the desert where she was having this problem and let everything settle. It was averaging 30fps - I did that command it it instantly went to 60fps vsync..It also gets 60fps in the POIs virtually non-stop as well.
The settings are on the default "medium" preset with the only exception being the trees are on "high". Due to the age of the card, we have that hooked up to a monitor with a native resolution of only 1360x768 - but she plays it in 1280x720 with small borders all around it so that it still looks crisp and not blurry. This allows for the game to have a much smaller frame buffer and it normally runs the game exceptionally well and looks good that way. On a 1080p or beyond monitor - it would run much worse, of course.

If I put textures on "full" on that card the VRAM is constantly full and is paging in causing the FPS to just hover in the teens.

Edit* Also when I turn it back on the console is spammed with terrain shader errors. I noticed those errors before too. The error is that it couldn't use the shader for my render path (dx11) using default shader....spammed about 2 dozen or so times before it stops.
This shader path seems to be the bigest issue for anyone. anyone find a fix/work around?

I’m getting 80 with a 1070 on medium+ settings. Don’t read to much into the reported 60. It could be capped, v-sync enabled, ultra settings, 4K resolution, etc.

Speaking of which, imagine my surprise when I was trying to track down my loot junk turret I forgot to pick up, when I see an icon for it on the map!
THANK YOU!

Its really too early for me to judge, but I think there 8s a huge imbalance now between the rwg and pois

We USED to explore the world, and the pois were just loot boxes to visit on occasion. NOW however, the pois are almost up to AAA standard, and the world is this big empty lifeless void between them.

It might be this playthrough in burning land, but the outside world holds little attraction to explore like it used to.

It's not just the loss of the old caves, but the burning land looks very empty, almost to the point of low poly 3d video game worlds from 15-20 years ago.

It might feel different once I have transport and can explore the other biomes, but there is no real threat outdoors at all, and nights up to at least day 8 are a cakewalk. I spent one digging a quest, one surface mining iron, and another going to pick up a drop.

I ran into a few night runners, but nothing I couldn't easily handle except taking a few hits.

It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds as my gamestage increases.
Playing on Nomad, totally different experience at night.

First night in burnt biome, feral spider chased me around a poi.

Did a buried supply quest at night and was attacked by four zeds, had to lure them away and hide.

Another night came back from a poi to a pack of 4 dogs waiting for me at my little camp, had to lure them back to the poi and pick em off from safety.

Have you thrown up yet? That can make a night run home much more dangerous

still, i have all taht turned off, amd 3700x rtx 2090 32gb ram same SDD nv2 etc etc. average on high and gettign 40 fps.. im a sad panda. all this hype of MM saying better fps performance etc and its actually worse

so when i got home i got geforce!

and i tryed to add 7dtd on there to fix up the settings and it didn't work.

is there a thing on Geforce make the quality higher or lower? (note i only play on mid settings)

(and yes you can make fun of me cuz i dont know how pc gaming works lol)

I love you The Fun Pimps

Where did you find that? Was he in the editor or in the vanilla?

Snow biome is meant to be a more difficult biome due to the wildlife. It isn’t a mistake or an imbalance that you could get killed on day 1 or 2 by a cougar, bear, or wolf. The mistake is entering the snow biome before you are ready and then not going slowly and carefully to be able to give those animals a wide berth when you see them before they see you.
True that. My first spawn was in Nav, in snow biome north of trader. As I headed south to reach some green I shot a deer with my bow, as I ran after it to finish it off I noticed I wasn't the only one... saw my first cougar! Thankfully it went after the deer instead of me so I could gtfo asap.

Fair enough. I went with the default settings and haven't tweaked a thing yet (I wanted to play lol).

speaking of performance, is it better on naz? I've only played naz in A16 but im not a fan of predetermined buildings etc cause i can plan everything out too easily, but if performance is that much better for now ill play naz if that may be lol

Performance for me is the same between navezgane or rwg. I also don't see any reason why i would be different.
Naz is a pre generated world, hence it knows whats going on, the RWG is random generated, so it needs to bild as it goes, load times are more, the terrain is not predetermined by the system etc etc

There is, something he's not saying. I have the same GPU and I'm getting 80+ fps, with an older, slower CPU at that.

gahhh help me senpai. i need to play 7 days but the fps is making me go back to league of legends for the ease of wrecking kids

Anyone running the game on Linux? Just curious how it performs.
Yes. On Ubuntu 19.04 with RX580 (8G VRAM). Did use one of the premade maps because I had an AMD GPU.

I have no FPS issues (I play on 1920x1080 and easily get 90 FPS). But I do get graphic artefacts from minor (orange textures for example) up to total black screen if I set specific graphic options high, for example SSO, Bloom....

Strange that nobody else reported similar problems, but they are easy to circumvent

Interesting tidbit: When I had a black screen or graphical weirdness I could just hit apply in the graphics options and I would see the world correctly, then just move 1 block and the world became black/weird again.

Not true. That's why map generation takes a while up front.
