One graphic feature I kind of dislike, the tiled mountains in the distance. Could those randomly either use flipped or rotated versions to break up that repeating tiling texture? (Thats what Minecraft does.. textures can appear flipped or rotated on either axis on render.)

Other than that, the distant stuff just looks great!

before your start your server.bat file: load 7D2D. START a NEW game (multiplayer) with seed name you want (i did this on my gaming pc , then copied/paste the saved game to my PC running the server) , now when i boot up the startdedicated.bat it didnt have to generate the map and it started normal !
saved maps are in C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\AppData
Interesting, I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

P.S.

To the people wondering, I am seeing a boost in FPS over 17.4 matching clean load vs clean load (new map)

Averaging 90 FPS peaks of over 120 FPS, With Ultra at 1080p. Was getting 60-70 Same Peak FPS though, in 17.4.

Ryzen 9 3900x (stock)

16GB Trident-Z 3200mhz CAS 14

Radeon VII (stock)

Its possible to make a texture that could feasibly tile in 8 directions. It takes extra work but yes.

Direct flipping would lead to seam hell.

The next logical step would be procedural textures...

@Madmole
Life Extension

You seem to be passionate about eating right, exorcising etc. I think it would be safe to assume that this is with the end goal of extending ones life as much as possible. If your end goal is that, well I have something I doubt you know because the world barely knows about this. I discovered this fact about 5 years ago when I read or heard something stupid, I cannot remember what it was, I set out to prove it wrong.

1 hour of reading is all I was thinking it would take to prove it wrong, 3 months later and a couple hundred hours of research..turns out it is true and if you ask me, kept hidden fromt he world.

Look in to starvation as a scientifically backed way of extending your life. You are going to have to dig deep, I'm talking published scientific journals, multiple studies, information going as far back as WW2. We have over 80 years of solid evidence supporting it, the research has already been done and published just not announced to the world.....yet. Like I said this is not well known so is not easily accessible doing general google searchs. If you truely want to extend your life...you must seek after the science. :)

PS ever wonder why "God" commanded people to fast in the christian bible?...... ;) science has finally come far enough to answer it and yet..its kept a secret... *puts on tin foil hat*
Yep, fasting provides a ton of health benefits such as improved nutrient absorption and increased protein synthesis.

Oh! Something else kind of wierd graphic interface wise...

The cursor is large with big black outlines, and the text on icons has no black outlines...so when you hover over an inv item, you can't read what it is.

I find myself moving the cursor around a lot over item trying to read the text of what they are, and I don't recall having that issue in the past.

84? Are you serious? Your avatar or ?
Typo...62... diabetes messed with my vision 10 years ago. (But with a sugar count of 1628 it should have killed me, and that's not a typo!)

My avatar is from last year, and that Captain Crunch birthday salute pic is me from this last Jan, I think.

Updating my Radeon Drivers from 19.9.1 to 19.9.3 now. Will do a re-run then
won't matter, it is a unity issue with radeon if I am understanding things correctly

I had an extra 18 seconds after I got done doing ..... something
liar, you had an extra 2 minutes

It's not VRAM, Faatal. I run an 8GB card (RX480 8GB, with an 4.2 Ghz quadcore, 16GB, not great but the 'typical' setup a lot of gamers still have) and so do many other people. When i just look at terrain the FPS tanks. The more of the 'outside terrain' is on the screen at once, the lower the FPS. I could be in the most complex city and still have decent to great fps. But as soon as I look at the outdoors, it tanks to ~30 FPS.Madmole mentioned a new terrain shader? Couldnt that be the cause?

Changing my settings has very little impact on FPS when it tanks. I could be running everything @ LOW and it still tanks.

Edit: Performance Metrics report that VRAM Utilization is at 5GB. And my card has 8GB, like i said.
I am having this same issue - Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB RAM, MSI Armor Radeon RX 590. It seems to tanks to about 15-17 fps for a while, and dropping it to medium graphics had zero impact. I also noticed this seemed to happen mostly in the morning time for some reason - I wonder if there is something to do with the sun settings? More than happy to run something and log results if it helps.

MM just an opinion, but molotov recipe seems a bit stiff, 300 gas? thats almost a third a tank from what you said about vehicles. I would suggest 150 gas per mollie.

yes I have been playing.

I was borderline diabetic, high blood pressure and a lot of other crap, all cured from diet and exercise. I get blood work and supplement to improve levels of various things I'm deficient in. Still you don't look 62!

Just turn and run away for a couple seconds. The rage only lasts a few seconds anyway then they walk again. New mechanics = new tactics. Figure out a way to adapt instead of quit. Another option is to lower difficulty even further which lowers % chance of rage mode.
Your Welcome
Well said Matt.

Playing survival, 50% loot. Died 3 times the first 2 days, love the new combat mechanics. 2300 hours played steam says. So yeah, the new combat is getting warm welcome here.

However, I still say there is not enough random biome zombies and even 50% loot seems like a bit much.

Hello, I would like to make a suggestion.

Since Alpha 17 I think it's really too easy to exploit the new IA of zombies...

We just need to use the pathfinding and our base remains always safe during hordes nights...

If 50 % of the zombies could just use the old stupid IA and could break some blocks in front of them instead of following the pathfinding, I think players would have a better challenge with more stress and a better experience during hordes nights.

I really think the zombies' IA must be changed for more variety.

What do you think about that ? (I'm sorry if my english is bad)

We can always add another loot abundancy option and go even less. We like a more rich looting experience so I imagine this will be the new default. About the only thing worth selling are guns and gems. I sell a few hundred mech parts at a crack and leather too, but there is so much you want to buy there needs to be a fair amount of loot. You have to break down 5 weapons just to craft 1 blue one too, so there needs to drop a fair amount of guns.

There isn't any trader exploits any more so I think it plays well. Takes 80+ hours to get decent gear and you will still be far from pink everything, and there will be better pinks out there yet.

Try your exploits and see what happens.

This is the standard workaround I've seen for VRAM issuse:
Check Full screen mode to "NO" then lower the resolution. Should still look good, only it's a smaller window. But Fps should increase by a lot.
Resolution has always greatly impacted the game's performance. In the case of VRAM, lower res equals smaller frame and z buffers, so less memory used.

Just been goosing about in A18 for the past hour. I gotta say I was a bit worried with all the reports of bad performance I was reading whilst the game was updating. But I can honestly say that my experience was buttery smooth in the desert I spawned and was running around in. inside/outside showed no difference in performance whatsoever.

My rig is no beast either:

Geforce GTX 980 [v431.60]

i7-3770 CPU [3.4GHz]

24GB RAM

SSD

Thanks for all the hard work guys, I'm really looking forward to dropping some solid hours into this build.

p.s. extra special thanks to faatal and madmole for bravely sticking around (though the weather be fowl here at times) your patience and diligence in keeping up with the forums has not gone unnoticed. *raises a beer*
