I enjoyed the video like it was already Christmas.

On a side note, vulture aerial pathing on close quarters/near buildings is clunky and clippy and glitchy and annoying. The annoying part is of course granted and needed. What about the others?

Will there be more Skyrim dragon aerial navigation and less Morrowind glitchy Pterodactils in the future?

<snipped for space>
I was thinking about this myself. The vultures attacking from above draw the player to firing directly upwards, exactly where the gimbal lock of the character controller is a problem.

Perhaps limiting the angle at which a vulture will initiate an attack run would help. Anything above 50-60 degrees and the vulture flies away for a better angle to attack from.

30 Days of night: Heavily inspired 7 days tbh

...
I'll keep an eye out for 7 Days of Darkness :smile-new:

And sorry for the late reply, but I'm a huge fan of 30 Day of Night and all the activity here almost made me forget. I would say I can see some of that inspiration in the game now that you mention it, but it could be just rationalization at this point.

Got to say the "a bit" part worries me, a bit, so got to ask this again: As you know players are currently much faster than zombies in nightmare speed - what will be the case in A18? Will zombies be able to reach them while not enraged? Will zombies be actually faster than the player?
Nightmare speed will be slightly faster than it was before. I'm not changing that until we have a valid reason after feedback with the rage mechanic. Nightmare rage is about as fast as the player, but it depends on the walk type, since animation root motion is what drives AI movement on the ground.

16 max alive looks a LOT more like what I prefer. I'm curious now about a 16 max and nomad playthrough.
I've bumped the inventory a lot in the 4x4, you could pretty much live out of that thing now.

I usually enjoy sniper builds in most games, yet was unsure as to how viable a solo sniper will be on late-game horde nights.
seeing this video makes me more confidant that with a decent base design and preparation it can go as well as any other build.

it seems really fun. cant wait to try it out. :)
Each build feels unique and cool IMO. 18 is a masterpiece. I put my soul into it and I hope it brightens everyone's future with a ton of hours logged :)

I previously said that a melee option would be nice for guns, as to smack 'em out of your face before taking a shot. This is probably clunky for controls though. However, a different thing that would be nice is if vultures were particularly vulnerable to machetes so you could switch to machete and slice through the thick, feathery jungle with some haste.
I just feel like something is missing. There should be some way available to combat a swarm of birds in your face like that.
IMO about anything will work better than a sniper rifle for clearing vultures. I imagine the spear would have done well I just never killed a vulture with one yet. My fist guy would just punch them and they would go flying. Sledge guy does area damage you could probably just hit the ground and kill them.

Nice, I know my server mates will love using the 4x4 again (more of a Harley man myself). But wish we had an apocalyptic Winnebago with stove and beds.

Something like a tennis racket or lacrosse stick...

From your latest videos I think most will agree current AI has reached an important milestone.

I think the lesson learned here was that no single AI behavior will suffice, once learned it can be predicted and exploited.

while it will surly be enhanced and improved even more until gold, atm AI finally seems to give u a good random mix/balance of different flavors both for diff zombie types and even for each zombie.

I love this approach.
Yes its the best version ever IMO. I haven't been able to solve the riddle which is awesome. Like how they started working on my bars and pretty soon breached near my fort door as well. Towards the end they were trying to path through my dart traps, its a good thing I hung some doors on there, I thought they might try that crap :)

All right. Thanks. This is true that there very well could be something effective already in place but yet to be discovered and deemed as the go to method for dealing with that situation.

Kudos to Faatal! I'm really looking forward to trying some ideas out after watching your video - WELL DONE - to you and the rest of the team!
