There is no danger of TFP giving in to that "pressure". If a player masters the game in hundreds or thousands of hours then there is simply not much we can do about it.I occasionally watch new / average gamers play the game and some definitely struggle.

As of late, the game difficulty is exposed to XML so it has become possible to tie more effects to that but it's still limited by the ability to explain all the effects when selecting the difficulty level.

(just hacking stuff in is how modders can work =))

I had figured as much, I was just frustrated at the shear contempt for newer or lesser skilled players because that's not helpful to growing the game's popularity. I want more people to enjoy playing this game, and the options that easy-to-make mods can provide exponentially improve the lifespan of the game.

Lately I've watched ShmeeTheEnigma and the50plusgamer.

Some take to the game like a fish to water, others less so.

They all get better. I remember Scarlett_Ivy_5 being scared of the nighttime zombies. Nowadays she's meeting 7 day hordes out on the streets like a good shotgun-toting Texan girl. (who might break into song at any moment - the jury is still out on whether this is less or more scary)

This is not a competition, just gamers playing a game.

I've only been playing since A16, watching that video from 2013 was surreal to me, never seen it. I, just, tooo many things I want to say about it, how things have changed and not, what was planned and may or may not still be on the way, etc. It was just fun to watch. I love watching things evolve, be it dinosaurs, robots, or entire worlds from scratch. So thanks for that link, I needed that.

No one is forcing you to play only vanilla, and nothing is stopping you from making your own mod if you really want something done your specific way.

Anyway that's my tired AF 3am vent.

That was quite the lurksplosion. I usually skip giant wordy posts, but I couldn't pass that one up. It read fast considering.

I definitely agree about the farming, that dragged on way too long and too many people are jumping to conclusions without playing with it first.

I ain't gonna miss that hoe either bro.

 
Some of us have trouble remembering that they are playing a game in development. Features are added then removed. Other features are just present for the game to be playable while waiting better.

When 7 Days to Die will be gold, new players won't know anything about stuff like LBD, the craft grid, the minimap (RIP biatch), etc ...

When we play Fallout 4, we totally ignore what was implemented and what was finally removed from gameplay during the development years. And we're fine with that.

Conclusion: early access is a good thing for a young studio, but the disadvantages are numerous (as numerous as the number of players...)

A18? Leveled loot has been in game for a few alphas now and Lucky Looter is a perk. There maybe be confusion because Madmole also made a book series called The Lucky Looter (which is fine). Also legendary loot is not coming in A18 (unless its a suprise).
Basically Game staged loot coupled with the perk guarentee you will be swimming in the best gear. As it has been for a while now. Now if you can imagine when they introduce Legendary gear then maxing out Lucky Looter right away would be a no brainier. Especially with no level gates coming, starting in A18.

When they first added it that was the first thing people maxed out. Even going so far as to not loot any POIs until it was. It was insane.
I think that's an exaggeration. I've got Lucky Looter at maximum and I'm level 250 and still I mostly find Q1 to Q3 items. I find Q4 and Q5 items less and rarely Q6 items. The weapons I use and the armor I wear are made by myself.

Lucky Looter doesn't automatically give you the best gear. It only helps luck a little bit.

 
Point noted, one alpha at a time. We LBD that looting sucked in 17, thats fixed, now if lack of survival elements truly is a thing, we'll fix that next. I'm starting to feel some food crunch from pedaling my bike. Was it a huge food hog in 17 or is something broken? Does the cardio perk work with bicycles? If someone can test, let me know your results!
Thanks MM. Even though I'm not after any advanced A18 keys, I hope I'm still in ya good books. We debate because we care.

I was going to ask that same thing about cycling. I haven't found a perk that seems to work with it.

 
I agree. It would be nice being able to compare two items. This could be done by selecting an item in your inventory and holding down Alt to reveal another window that shows the stats of the item you are using/wearing. Example: I have leather gloves equipped and another pair in my inventory. I select the ones in my inventory, hold Alt, window appears displaying stats of my equipped gloves, enabling me to quickly see the differences. This could be extended from not only items you have equipped, but even the items on your tool belt.

Suddenly it's everyone's birthday seeing as that trick worked for you to get your key. Lol

Having a birthday so close to Christmas sucks so I always wanted to change my birthday, so tomorrow sounds fine to me as well.

I know that feel. 6 days before christmas for me.

I just still wish modders could at least get early access to the XML so we can start looking at how things work to port our projects over. People asking for release dates isn't just something TFP have to deal with. ;)

A18 has no level gates and you can only craft up to blue I think. LL is gonna be highly attractive. Like previous Alphas, but MM said he's gonna keep an eye on it.

The loot you find is vastly superior with maxed LL. My test I was swimming in pink and blue in 4 days of heavy looting. Hell even with the goggles as a fresh spawn you can see a big difference.

I guess we just have different experiences with it.

More modern ones I like are SOAD, Shinedown, Godsmack, 5 finger death punch, Seether.
Nice! Mix in a bit of Sevendust, M♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and Disturbed and this is basically a good chunk of my playlist at work while rockin' through programming throughout the day.

The levelgates in A17 only exist in the intellect branch. But Lucky Looter is in the Perception branch. So it doesn't differ from A18.

If I only put points in Lucky Looter I can get it to maximum with level 12.

That's the way it is. While you seem to have a lot of luck, I have only a little luck. That's why I'm not a fan of it when a game doesn't give you the opportunity to compensate missing luck with effort.
