I'm okay with some beating on the car. Added danger that players need to be aware of.He didn't imply that he thinks zombies don't path around cars in A18.
He wishes (hopes) they do - explicitly pointing out the current issue.
I agree with him, too. Every car that zombies blow up can kill you if you get stuck near them, but most importantly blown up cars are lost wrenching opportunities for goodies like brass radiators.
The devs mentioned there would be more non dungeon POIs in the mix. Just dont know if that made it into a18 in time tho.I think this has been pointed out by another poster already, but, whereby new POI's are nice, we really need some normal, ordinary stuff back.
This whole 'every house a dungeon' garbage is one reason I don't go looting, and sort of makes the game a joke.
I would love to go roaming around in a neighbourhood and find that one place that has the dungeon crawl aspect than having it in every single place, with a few places in the city.
The issue now, for me, however, is it's just as 'rinse and repeat' having all houses as convoluted crawl experiences as it was having all houses 'normal' - although now it comes with a lot more tedium.
And thinking of it, honestly, it wasn't bad having all normal houses with some hidden goodies - it was a lot more realistic than Mr Jones and his wife who managed to source 6 fridges, 4 sofas, and a toilet to wall up a section of the house whilst somehow managing to forget to close or lock the doors immediately on their side.
Like what?Another thing I find weird and hate.. the idea that we are supposed to do something at given times... What happened to sandbox?
I appreciate the chat between myself and MechanicalLens, as his points led to the idea of spruced up golden oldie buildings. The devs mentioned there would be more non dungeon POIs in the mix. Just dont know if that made it into a18 in time tho.
Erm... how did my idea lead to that?I appreciate the chat between myself and MechanicalLens, as his points led to the idea of spruced up golden oldie builsings.
If the devs come across this they may see my suggestion of having overhauled or improved but non dungeon crawl houses added to the mix it would be great.
Here's hoping they have or could by A18
Trust me, I love sandbox. It's the only genre of game I play. Lol But I also like a sense of "general progression". ("General" meaning, in this case, most of the POI's you'd loot mid to end game would be dungeons, but that doesn't mean it's not recommended to loot non-dungeon POI's as well.)Another thing I find weird and hate.. the idea that we are supposed to do something at given times... What happened to sandbox?
Okey, SageErm... how did my idea lead to that? What idea?
Also, call me Sage.![]()
I'm not saying all of them could be updated.Okey, Sage
When you pointed out that some people may not want the old stuff back because of the limitations for looting (couple of bedstands and cupboards here and there) and your points that make new POI's attractive.
So instead of having new, sexy looking POI crawls and old bog standard buildings, or both (in the terse point Guppy made) - why not have both and updated.
That is to say the older buildings with perhaps a couple more rooms, balconies, sheds with cement in or more loot - nothing too different to before but with tweaks here and there to give them a look more in line with the new buildings minus the dungeon crawl.
I'm not saying all of them could be updated.Only one comes to mind so far: it's a very barren house with a few polymer curtains, a washing machine, a toilet, a tiny kitchen (I can't even remember if there's a kitchen or not), an old bed, a small trash bin, and a wood chair inside.
But then again, it's good for living in, except that the stairs that lead upstairs are made of cobblestone, I think.

I'm not saying I want all non-dungeon POI's to disappear. Not at all. I just disagree with the commonly thrown around 50/50 ratio; I lean more towards 75% dungeons, 25% not. But that's just my opinion.
*Grabs out my chainsaw* Try me.I'm with you but I'll throw my lot in at 75% non dungeons/ 25% dungeon POI
Fight to the death to decide the final numbers?
Bring it*Grabs out my chainsaw* Try me.(And yes, chainsaws are quite effective in A17, especially with 5/5 Skull Crusher.)
Probably not.Bring it

*Edit: On reflection, do you think it would be possible to add the option of choosing 'dungeon vs traditional building' ratio in random gen? *
Going the same place as "Crafting".Another thing I find weird and hate.. the idea that we are supposed to do something at given times... What happened to sandbox?
I think a good example would be more of those POIs in navesgane near the initial spawn areas. Updated, multi room but limited in size.Okey, Sage![]()

You mean like the one Sage mentioned with the side cobble stairs and the balcony? I remember back in A16 me and a friend of mine moved in one of those and made it our home. The good old daysI think a good example would be more of those POIs in navesgane near the initial spawn areas. Updated, multi room but limited in size.
I think it's technically possible given many similar xml settings already in place are linked to settings menus. The pimps would just need to see the value in it.Bring it

Side note, I think a good settings menu is like the one used for the "dont starve" game series. The sandbox nuts would love it.
