The shooting then he blows up is the problem. Is he holding a (un)dead-mans switch? If he reached your last door, what could you have done? Your chests were two meters away, is the blast radius one meter?
I plan playing the game vanilla, at least twice. But the Demo man feels trollish to me. I'm pretty sure he will not be apart of my game for long.
He might be your buddy, let him get clogged up near his friends, shoot and boom, free rocket to blow up a bunch of nearby zeds.

madmole whats your highest day on 7dtd I haven't ever seen you reach day 77 is this the alpha you have played the most?
I don't remember but A16 was so boring this is all the further I got:

A18 is by far the most engaged I've been in the game in years, and is the best version ever. Of course take that with a grain of salt I always say that (the latter part). But this time the whole team feels this way not just me.

Hah, maybe. I don't know if I can top that one, maybe I should wait a couple of weeks (in game).
A tour of your base would also be sweet if that would be possible at any point in the future. It looks pretty darn good from what we've seen of it. :encouragement: If not, no worries!

Hi guys, I've been lurking lately because I'm moving from my old apartment to a new house and I don't have a lot of free time.

I have a question tho.

Where is it?

Not really. They built this makeshift base in less than a day, and except for iron, they didn't need any more raw materials for it.
My idea of using a house for a base is to just put wood plugs in the doors and hide all night on the top floor and make sure the stairwells are filled in so its about 9 pm and I go there with just planks and thats all I do. Melee the survivors in the moring and avoid combat all night. I wouldn't waste iron bars on some dump, if it takes a whole day you might as well build a real base, A 7x7 tower with bars is all I need and some spikes and ammo.

I think I read somewhere that it was actually intended that nightmare speed is faster than the player. Apparently that's a bug.
They are back pedaling with no armor. IF you turn your back to them and run away then you can outrun them. Its possible they might catch you with unmodded heavy armor I haven't tested that. We plan on making them faster post 18e.

It will be cool too see several different feasible approaches to horde night based on book/perk/attritubue choices. If that can be attained then I would think that game balance is heading in the right direction. 😎
For example:

1) heavy gun spec

2) heavy trap spec

3) explosions spec

4) builder spec.

Etc.
We're moving in the right direction but would need land mine xp and scalable deployable traps.

I think I know what it was, zombies can push ones who get in their way and I think some popped through the collider of the door.
In this particular video, you could easily argue that the pop in zombies came in through the hole above the door. Not gamebreaking even a little.

And, thank you so much for the video. Add damn you at the same time. Dude, I am almost literally dying waiting for A18. (On a $12 k couch, part of which is specifically for 7D2D. You know from my avatar I am not kidding!)

Skip to 13:10 and observe the zombie nurse. That was some serious clippage right there. :p Again, nothing gamebreaking, I'm just pointing that out. :p And I know, clippage isn't a world. Or at least it wasn't until now.

a few pages back you mentioned A19 will be all about the modders. when will you start a thread about what modders want to see A/F/A hooks and the likes?

I know A18 is not out but my fear is there are so many hooks missing and I want to make sure I am a squeaky wheel!

It was just an example. Maybe a builder spec. and trap. Spec are the same thing. Or maybe they can be different...
Imagine if as a builder spef. you can build more with less required resources (excluding traps). For example, able to build 4 concrete walls vs. 2 without the spec. Or perhaps a top tier durability block only accessible to the builder spec.

Imagination at work here. 😅
I don't see horde night defense as something where you specialise. If you build big (walls, secondary defense points etc.) you get less surprises from behind. If you add more traps you save ammo. If you build adapted to zombie behaviour you save on traps AND ammo.

Where are we with the MFs? and when do you see A18 EXP rolling out? last time I heard it was August. August is all but done and that day 77 Horde night video seemed to look like A18 is ready. Any info on this would be great! overall it looks great and I can't wait to sink my teeth into it!
This Friday is out, so sometime beyond that. Given the long weekend and we want to ship a very high quality build on the first experimental, its probably mid to late September. There are 51 MF's. 2.5 weeks from now feels possible, so I'd GUESS AT THE SOONEST, Friday the 13th it hits streamers. Again, it might not drop until October so don't be saying "madmole promised blah blah blah" when this is just an estimate. Its done when its done.

There is a memory leak after about an hour of play and RWG crashing on generating 8k maps for older hardware. 4k maps have some visual fugly like roads hitting a brick wall. So we've got some work to do, but we're getting it there. No point in shipping with known nasties. Just because I had a great test last night doesn't mean there isn't showstoppers to fix.

when it comes to the spikes are the metal ones going to be bumped up a bit for hp? they just seem to get wrecked as fast as the wood ones for the cost it takes to make them.
also I loved the horde night video it was amazing and can't wait till experimental comes out.
They kill and break down a stage, they do their job. We'll make steel versions but don't expect spikes to do all the work like old versions.

For me, the problem isn't grinding. I love grinding. Or to be exact I love mining. I just don't like firearms.Currently I am building a base with 24 dart traps, 12 blade traps and 36 electric fences. The dart traps hold a total of 36000 darts. To make the darts I need 21600 raw iron and 36000 clay. And I am looking forward to spend some time in my mines to collect the ressources.
You are going to love mining dude.

Thats what I love to hear. We're starting to get a game with actual builds and classes, that support different play styles.

The ragdolling is awesome. The quick-switch of weapons is even more awesome.
Moments like these are why I argue so much for maintaining the integrity of horde nights by removing any elements of cheese. Other aspects of the game are important of course, but these are the pinnacle moments in the game for me... my reason and purpose for playing the next 7 days.
Yeah I'm glad tower defense got some major improvements, I had a blast last night. The funny thing is I go to all the vending machines and buy out the dog food so I can craft grandpa's learn'n elixer :D Might as well level as much as I can on horde night, leveling is a female dog at level 60.

Just a thought from watching your Day 77 video: do you think you'll make gun repairs and whatnot take a little longer? Right now it takes 2 seconds tops to turn a broken piece-of-crap rifle into a factory fresh killing machine again.

If it took like, 10-20 seconds instead, it'd still be pretty quick, but you'd actually have to plan ahead with your durability instead of backing up 20 feet, hitting A in the menu, and being totally okay. It'd make it a lot more intense when your gun breaks during a fight!
