Could this be tied to the cooking skill where each rank reduces risk of food poisoning at least?
No because we would have to add quality to foods then, and that would mean one stack. What we're doing is retooling slow metabolism (completely worthless given how easy it is to get food and how food is a non issue once you start driving) to be something like "iron stomach" which can lower your chance 1% per rank or something.

There could simply be a more advanced "sunk in" relay, that hides (invisible) any wires connected to another sunk relay.

This way there is a plausible way to make wires hidden, along longer paths of a wall, without hiding them completely.

(Any wire between those relays will only show up when equipping the wire tool)

-> thinking about making hidden wires without large changes to the code here.

I hope you leave them alone; hiding wires from others also means hiding powered traps, generators, etc... If players want to hide them they can place blocks over them to simulate putting them in walls.
No work sounds fine to me. I don't have a dog in this fight.

agreed. Beer went from awesome in earlier version to I never use it.
I agree. A fortitude book that allows you to drink a few beers before sight becomes blurry (within a set time frame) would be nice.

Yeah same here, Off topic guys. Let's not get Roland angry...he has the hammer in his power.
we are throwing out our opinions regarding if wires being shown or not for A18, Madmole is even participating in this discussion. I would say its right on topic lol. Lets keep this going until it fizzles out or a dev settles on a decision. right now its leaning towards no change which i love but many would disagree and they should be allowed to voice an opinion. i see no reason why peoples opinions regarding changes or possible changes for A18 should be shut down :)

EDIT: unless a dev or mod shuts down the discussion that is. 9 out of 10 times it'll only last a page or 2 and then on to the next discussion ha ha. This section of the forum discussions regarding A18 changes on a dime ;) one hour its wires, the next its 1 meter holes the next its books and perks. etc.

This sounds great! Any way to make food sterile at greater cost? Maybe add nitrate or something? That would be great. Not needed... But I like that Canned food is now the preffered method of eating. Really changes the flow of foodproduction.

I'm not native... but that is not right either :D

I think what you mean is impenetrable (nothing getting through)
I don't think it will change much, just how much stew I carry in case I random barf.

Na, no screen blur would be better unless you hammer repeated beers to abuse the drunk buff.

I think this is the first time I've disagreed with you but, I strongly disagree. Seeing wires helps locate a players traps when raiding them or helps locate the power source. :) I do agree they serve no purpose in single player or pve though.
Wrong. They provide an optional incentive to build double walls or raised floors to hide them. Try it, those raised floors are actually great fun to build, if you like to build

On a second note have the zombies pathing when it comes to spike traps been worked on as it stands in A17 they will make a 1 wide tunnel through spikes to get to the wall ...
Put the spike traps level on the ground and the zombies won't make a "tunnel"

Care to elaborate how its wrong? everything you said after "wrong" had nothing to do with my statement.

I use wires, if they are not hidden, while i'm raiding to locate the power source and or traps thus making it easier to defeat a poorly designed base.

P.S. you can hide wires in a single 1 meter block by the way. I do not use double walls to hide wires, I use creativity in order to hide all mine with a 1 block wall.... FYI

honestly feel like it's not the wires but the 100s of things they power that lag the game lol
Yes, it's entirely possible that the lag, or to be more precise, the 'reload' lag that occurs when you approach the wires, is rather caused by the electrical system and not the wires themselves. I was trying to express this fact writing 'might' but I guess it was still unclear.... English is not my first language, sorry.

I'm assuming you've done some extensive testing to back this claim?

I personally have never once seen MP slowed due to wires..... Believe me you I go nuts with wires being everywhere do to my OCD about having a light switch for every room and a switch for just about everything, spot lights, alarms, outer defenses, turrets they all must have an on off switch lol...my friends get annoyed sometimes because of this lol. I've never heard of or ever seen a drop in FPS or server FPS due to wires or any kind of lag.

I'm honestly curious to hear your explaination regarding your claim. thanks :)
It's a reproducible issue. You can test it yourself. I dunno what kind of proof or argument you're expecting from me. If you've never experienced the problem your wire usage may not have been extensive enough. Just to give an example - that's a freely configurable 38 x 10 pixel display. That thing produced a lot of lags.^^

will books to unlock a perk so that we can craft schematics ever be added In? just kinda weird loosing a schematic when you use it to craft an item. then again I don't know if the schematic is still lost since I stopped getting the perks for schematic tiers for that reason.

Canned food has no chance for food poisoning, but all cooked and raw food have a small chance that something rotten got in there.
is there any hope to be able to actually can our own food in the campfire in jars? This change is kinda ridiculous and insulting to farmers lol

I doubt it's the graphic ...
Hard to say. As you know, electrical networks have a simple tree structure in 7 Days. That shouldn't be very expensive even if not optimized. But ofc I could be wrong.^^

I think Prime explained it in the last A18 stream, the more connected elements the more cpu the polls that happen along the network each time cost. Especially trigger plates were expensive and best should be used with caution.

I also doubt the wire would cause to much perfomance issues unless there are tons of them, but then the amount of network calls would likely still outweight them. Tho not sure they also poll when the system has no power... Hmm.

<snip>
Holy crap talk about over kill lol. I was thinking on a normal server. I believe in that case. I'm not going to test something that would never happen on the servers i play on.

If you feel it causes lag maybe it does, do you mean lag or a drop in FPS? That looks like it might cause a drop in FPS when looking at it but server wide lag, not sure about that. either way this honestly doesn't interest me as i do not and have never played on servers that have this kind of stuff built. Thanks for the pics though, i see where you were coming from now :)

EDIT: just wanted to clarify, i doubt its wires that would cause server wide lag, it would be pressure plates, the amount of generators etc. that eats up CPU server side.

EDIT 2: I just re-read what you said, nevermind we are basically on the same page lol. yeah not wires but everything else. agreed

P.S. if you are the one that built that electrical sign, I give you props! Very impressive. I thought I was a mad man when it came to wiring up stuff, you make me and my skills look like sh*t compared to yours lol ;)

Meh. I have enough food for 50 people, but that might change muahahahahaa. Food poisoning is back and it empties your stomach from throwing up, so finally I can have a use for my 5000 pounds of food. Canned food has no chance for food poisoning, but all cooked and raw food have a small chance that something rotten got in there.
MM, I have two questions for your post:

1. Can the chance of poisoning decrease with the purchase of cooking skills, or maybe there are new poisoning resistance perks?

2. Will vomiting animation or other poisoning effects be added?

I also would have to chime in and say leave the wires as they are...it fits the theme and primitive post apocalyptic vibe and if you want them hidden...just takes a little extra planning and building , not difficult .

Also Madmole are there any book sets that are in , or are planned to further augment Unarmed and punching things to death? Either way , definitely looking forward to using an Unarmed build in A18!
