I don't want to be the guy criticizing something he hasn't even tested yet but doesn't that seem a bit low ? 40 hours into a single playthrough is quite some time, if you have hardly any books by that time do you consider buffing their loot % or the number of book cases in the world ?
All in all it's amazing to know that finding a crack-a-book will be that "YAY !" moment again like it used to be.
I think madmole distinguishes between the books that give benefits and the schematics you know from A16. In A18 there seems to be both. You can either make an auger if you have the corresponding perk or if you find and learn the schematic.

I don't mind if it takes longer to get the base ready for battle again. In A16 it always took me a whole day to repair the base and prepare it for the next horde. It takes a while to place 700-900 wooden spikes. :)
But what would bother me about this zombie would be if he exploded no matter what you do. You can kill the cop before he explodes and thus prevent the explosion or you can get to safety in time. Something like that would also be desirable for the demolition zombie.
To kill the Demo Zombie, you need to shoot him... in the flashing... sweet spot...

Now if some Las Vegas jackpot sounds happen when you do... I just couldn't play again.

What if it yelled out, "Yatzee!" or "You sank my Battleship!" ?

Seriously though; what if, on the occasions you successfully 'disarm' the bomb, there was a decent chance of C4 dropping as loot?

But according to the description, he only explodes prematurely if you do this. It does not prevent him from exploding.

And I don't want the area around the base to become a crater landscape.

You got my attention.

Dropping 1-3 C-4 would be more pleasing! :)

If the drop chance was 25% or better, TFP could have "Circus Music" playing while the flashing sweet spot zombies charged in. "D

My God...
...and the flashing lights can cause seizures, and the jump scares can cause laundry bills...

Who cares.
I'll let Jim Sterling take this one...

Now: the main problem, in that video, is that people are actively being encouraged to spend real-life money on microtransactions, by deliberately encouraging what is essentially gambling addiction. And the suggestion here did not include real money. That is definitely a big difference.

Having said that - what would gambling mechanics even add to this game, really? And if it adds little to nothing - why even add something that could even be associated with gambling mechanics that are more predatory? All you're doing is encouraging gambling, even if not for real money. Is that worth it?

(Of course, there's also the slippery slope argument - "people are already gambling in-game, so why not give them the opportunity to buy Duke's Casino Coins if they want?" I'd like to think TFP are smarter than that - but that may not have been stated by TFP, but some other developer trying to justify their own predatory gambling mechanics... like Rockstar. I don't want to add credibility to that argument.)

I'll stick with my opinion that it's a bad idea. I won't stop playing the game if gambling is in it, I just don't think it's worth it. Especially when there are so many other things that have already been requested, that would definitely make the game more fun, and development time should be spent on those.

A survivor isn't worth his weight in salt with drop nothing. There is a drop on death option you can set to nothing, but remember I will think much less of you if you go there. I noticed a delete all, I need to try that sometime, thats about as close as you get to dead is dead legit. Man that would suck, but at the same time it would make having 2nd string gear important and you wouldn't sell everything to traders you would horde more.
I'm only half kidding about those options. I mean, I would make a mod that does that and it would be fun for advanced players. I did enjoy the 30 wellness cap we had and the glory of nursing back to health was enjoyable for me. Like this was back when it was a lot harder to get your gear when you died, like a pack of dogs (dogs used to be so nasty) would stay there and you would get in a death loop thinking you could get your stuff and run.
Just to be clear. You mean we are getting a drop nothing on death option in alpha 18 sp? There is no sp option in alpha 17.

Well damn. You have shamed me out of using drop nothing on death. I cant have Madmole looking down on me like that lol.

Only reason I really want it is for my Sunday stream. I have a thing where people can donate bits to force me to spawn nasty zombies on me. I die alot in that series lol. Would be nothing but bag runs rofl

Insert obligatory "When's a18 going to come out, I want to start a new game!" post...
Kidding, of course. My peeps and I are ankle deep into a sorcery mod game, but I do want to make this prediction:

Streamers will have it 8/16.
From your lips to God ears. I need it b4 September lol.

Also I need to check out sorcery mod again. Is it integrated with your mod? Is your mod out? I have been out of the know since I got addicted to borderlands mod lpl

There is one in the Unity version. A tester would have to confirm that it's in their Steam builds, too.

They were amazing un alpha 17. You mean you turned up the amazing factor even more?
Nice.
In A17 augers are not as good as they were in A16. Without the appropriate mods and the perks they are slow and you can only use them deep down if you don't want to have screamers all the time.

Steam options A17.4 (b4): Drop On Death: Everything, Toolbelt Only, Backpack Only, Delete Everything

I think he meant the alpha 18 version.
yeah, heh :) was thinking that, but only after I posted... been up all night monitoring a large infrastructure change. The major circuit provider has apparently taken to hiring from clown colleges. They wouldn't believe us that after switch over their circuit wasn't connected at one end. and they'd sent the crew at that end home, "because they'd finished their job", before the circuit was fully live.

as the comedians say, "you can't write this stuff"

here is our options and they are self explanatory. (shows on death and quit).

Was just talking today about making a book bound in human flesh you open and a nasty horde comes, if you survive it, you get Ash's Legendary chainsaw and shotgun.
I love when games throw in things like this! You've gone and said it now, no taking it back lol

Seriously though, I would love seeing legendary weapons that are easter eggs from various movies and games. I also love the idea of having to find a trigger item and complete an event to acquire the item.

The only requirement I would have for any of Ash's guns would be that they would have to have vastly unrealistic ammo capacity lol, it would be the only way to do it right hahaha.

Also, since you have been liking the brawler play style with fist weapons you should also include his medieval power fist that they made for him to replace the hand he chopped off! That would be an awesome fist weapon! It could even have a higher chance to pop heads or amputate limbs!

i can see it now or later i should say.. more like end of a18 or into a19, people will be crying ... "where is the flesh bound book we were promised"

Any lootable container in the game is a despicable loot box, just without the real money. 7D2D players are practically gambling dozens of times a day when they are out scavenging. Slippery Slope in full force. :cocksure: . No sorry, I don't buy your argument

I agree that a gambling machine would be a bad idea, but for a different reason: It simply would be overkill. We already have a game chock full with "get some random loot" blocks.
