How does the fortitude build feel? Still have any doubts? This will probably be the first spec I try so just curious.
Its badass. The spiked knuckles take 3 ranks, then you start getting ragdoll knockdowns and can finish your victim while he is in a stupor. Combined with the health regen, heavy armor I rarely pull out the Ak except when I'm surrounded or on horde night. I punched a boar out cold, then two more shots gibbed his head, it felt so satisfying. I also knocked a feral out cold with one punch, and then beat it to death before it could recover.

Keep in mind as long as you land a head punch you cannot get infected because you knocked out their teeth.

damn joel I just noticed how ripped you are in your forum picture you into any wrestling?
Hey thanks. I used to do some tae kwon do and a bit of karate, and wrestled in school a bit. I was too skinny growing up to be good at sports though, I didn't get big until my 30's. I just lift weights to stay in shape these days. I have a bag and mat though and throw some elbows, knees and kicks at once in a while lol. I was doing head and hand stands a few years ago, but quit doing that. Its really good strength training. I was doing 22 chin ups at 210 pounds then. 17 pull ups I think.

I have a question will you be changing zombies spawns in pois because I could enter like an ordinary house like im lvl 100 and I could be bombarded with ferals and some times irradiated will there be specific zombie spawns per tier of the poi? for example shotgun messiah factory tier 4 many irradiated zombs and ferals mansion tier 3 ferals and a chance of irradiates zombies working stiff tools normal zombies with a chance of ferals and tier 1 buildings with normal zombies with a very slight chance of ferals I posted this because it can get annoying when you have to spend so much of your ammo on normal pois and don't have much of a reward depending on where you are if you see this joel could you please inform me if this is subject to change or not
thank you
We've done a huge balance pass to ensure its rewarding.

wait you can deal fatigue damage now @mm?
Its not fatigue. You can stun them, knock them down, and the last rank you have a better chance to gib their head. Its similar to clubs/sledges that knock enemies down.

OMG! That sounds too fun!

OK, I'm convinced, go ahead and give me access to A18 and I'll help you... test! :)

If i were to add a death penalty to myself, i would have it to where you start backpeddling in levels, where you could say the ptsd of dying has caused you to suffer amnesia in areas, so say your level 65, and you die 3 times in a row trying to gather your stuff, now you are level 57 and some perks are lost to you, would make for more incentive not to die I think, but thats just me.

We could add a hardcore mode where when you die you start at level 1 again, activated in the menu before starting up the world, just my thoughts.

as in A17, dying will make you lose main skills 2 points, so you cannot use other perk for 30 minutes. But if you want complete lost of perk then i see it advantage. Suppose you are level 10 you just make forge, now you want cycle .. just dye and level up again by the time you reach 10 you now had forge and cycle both at level 10.. I am not saying this is idle scenario. but dying actually become a way to reset your skill points, and take advantage of it to master onething. bake yourself 100 Hob stew, dye and then use that extra point somewhere else.

Now, if you say then levelling agian don't give him points, then a poor guys who is not good at it [hence dying], will lose all perk point once he died 100 times in game ...

So uh, what exactly are the "parts" that make up a baseball bat?
...the answer will either assuage concerns or fire them up. :)
Baseball bat parts are a completely reasonable thing. Composite bats can use a combination of parts; For example, a wooden composite bat typically consists of a plastic foam core surrounded by woven layers of resin-impregnated synthetic fibers. Some bats are wooden with cork centers or even ceramic centers. They have greatly increased hitting power than the 1 part wooden bats.

Although you won't find these bats in MLB. They are legal in most other leagues. That said, even the wooden ones require some fine tools to make, otherwise we might call them clubs.

I will choose the multi-part baseball bat for hitting zombies. All those who don't like baseball bat parts can remain ignorant and let us have all the fun. :smile-new:

As much as I like the new models for the lead-ore and the potassium-ore, I don't like the oil-shale model very much. In no way does the shape, size and form of the model shown on Twitter resemble what you guys would call oil-shale. Of course I understand in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter one tiny bit, but still..

Daddy is not angry, daddy is disappointed!

Will alpha 18 be going to streamers first or will the public get it the same time? I know i do not have to watch the streamers play it but just enjoy the surprise more of seeing everything for the first time when you start a new game

I posted a few screens on twitter. The balance is really feeling tight now, I'm loving A18 more than any version before.
I notice that on one of them you say:

Gas is nerfed so you need to mine shale to have tons of fuel, so finding this shale mine felt very rewarding!
I'm curious about where you consider the correct balance on fuel quantities to be and what you consider to be "tons".

Basically, is the intent that you will have to mine if you want to use a vehicle?

Or is the intent that light vehicle use will still be feasible on scavenged gas and you'll only have to mine shale if you use one constantly and also run generators most of the time?

Can you visually see the knocking out of their teeth? A teeth particle coming out of the mouth when you punch the zombie would be badass.

Pre-Release in the next two weeks please, I'll be off work the last two weeks of August :p Looking forward to all the changes, especially with the ore indicators and brawler builds. And Books to find! Finally a reason to go out after reaching Level 120 and having a horde-safe super-base.... :)

Why do u need new stuff if u have a horde safe super base. Id rather the game be difficult enough so it forces u to go find new stuff, or face the consequences.

I disagree. Do you stop to pick perks during precious daylight hours? Sometimes a big POI takes every second of the day and travel time to make it back to the trader and then haul ass back to base before sundown, and in that time I gained 12 levels (before). Now that its nerfed I pretty much know exactly what I want next because there is time to think about it and time to desire it. When you level every 30 seconds like before I mean who wants to constantly go into the perk menu? I need to get ♥♥♥♥ done.
There are times when I'm saving for a perk too, (high attribute req) and dont' really look at it for a bit, and all of a sudden there are 8-12 perk points to spend. That said I slaughter nearly every zed I see and quest non stop, so I'm going out on a limb here to say I level way faster than most players. I mean one molotov could get you 12k xp if you know how to throw at the right time and place.
What are your game settings? 90 min days? Default xp? You gain 12 levels in 1 day on those settings? What stage of the game? Day 3 or day 60?

Video or didnt happen lol.

Makes me really nervous that your getting 12 lvls a day and talking xp nerfs. This coming from someone who never has even come close to 12 levels in a day. Like on a good day I might get 2.

Since tier 2 tools are made from basic parts, it made sense that tier 2 melee parts were made from basic parts as well. Why would I go after iron club parts when I can make a fire axe from forged iron, wood, some leather and duct tape? It would put strength and tools at a huge advantage over the other attributes and their weapons.
This is SOOOOO weird to me. Not even because of the realism...

But you removed gunparts, which had SO MUCH POTENTIAL to really impact so many different things, for the sake of micromanagement.

And now you introduce baseballbat parts.

I mean... I won't ever use a baseballbat anyways... but it is just sooo weird!

I think Robert got it in Friday, I saw a variable on a buff I'd never seen it on before.
THIS is the message of the day!!!

There is obviously a clue in there! What is he saying?? Bruising… Ego...
A Sanity stat?

Some injures to the player that can only heal over time?

Bruising will show level of damage to the player?

:)
You're onto something. It's a new emoji riddle and the first emoji is probably

:frusty:

Roland, we're ready for the next one
