When i watched the streams a few weeks ago, i was actually bothered by the fact that most of the testers only concentrated on doing as little as possible and getting back to the trader. I feel that there is too much emphasis on the trader, if you can just do quests and sell loot, rinse and repeat and survive there's something wrong. It should be quests for Xp and rewards, buying and selling when you're in dire need and can't find what you're looting for?
Seriously, go watch the streams i remember a time when prime was wanting to do more, but the others said they just wanted to go back to the trader even though there was time and no reason to.
In a world desperately trying to survive, what would you do? Build way up in the mountains and fend for yourself, or build near some bit of civilization? Trading is essential to thrive. Noone forces anyone to use the traders, but after 6 years, its something new a lot of people are enjoying. Its also a by product of adding the RPG elements after survival. I literally drove 2 game days looking for a trader in the pine forest, just because I like to build next to them. Getting paid to do something I want to do anyway, and getting additional rewards and XP to me makes trader quests the preferred activity.

hey i'm having an issue with the mod launcher anytime i try to load any mod i comes up with an error that says failed to load mono. i tried uninstalling the game and mod launcher and it still doing it if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.
No mod support questions here.

Are stealth builds balanced to keep up with run and gun builds? For example having xp bonuses on stealth kills.

I mean it takes way longer to level if you clear a house by stealthing than going in guns blazing and molotoving everything.

Btw rocks looks delicious!
Why does it need to "keep up"? It uses 1/4th the ammo and melee gas to stealth clear a POI, why should it be just as fast? You take no damage and use barely any ammo, it shouldn't keep up.

Lol here I am mate! Potassium nitrate can have that form as displayed with the new texture. It just doesn't occur that much in nature, it's most often associated with other minerals.
The lead ore looks realistic enough for me. You can clearly see the cubic to rhomboid crystalline shaoe, which makes me believe they tried to model the most common lead ore; galena.
Yes I spent at least a day researching ores and we took a few liberties with color and shape enhancement to try and make them somewhat distinguishable at a distance.

I totally agree and have the same game style.

@MM hope you can get the video out that you mention earlier/hope to get done this weekend! love the nodes!!
Sorry, I literally have been having a blast playing with my free time this weekend. I posted a few screens on twitter. The balance is really feeling tight now, I'm loving A18 more than any version before. It feels so polished and smooth. I'll record a video tomorrow as long as I'm not flooded with meetings.

How does the fortitude build feel? Still have any doubts? This will probably be the first spec I try so just curious.

Soooo... We are stuck with uninteresting, non-atmospheric, non-scary, easy cities?
The wasteland is full of dogs, wights, cops. If that doesn't fill your criteria perhaps you can wait a bit until we get game staged city volumes right now we don't have that fine of control yet.

2nd this. Make them much smaller like rocks and scatter say 8 or so in random orientations over a 3x3 block area which would make them more interesting to find rather than standing out across the map. Gives a prospecting feel.
Yeah whatever. Took me 2 in game days on a minibike to find one shale. If anything they need to be bigger.

@MMAre there any plans for an end game? ( build a rocket, fly to moon and leave happily ever after :) )
Fallout had an end game and people raged so they patched it out. You will be able to deal with the antagonist of your choice and then continue sandbox play.

I have a question will you be changing zombies spawns in pois because I could enter like an ordinary house like im lvl 100 and I could be bombarded with ferals and some times irradiated will there be specific zombie spawns per tier of the poi? for example shotgun messiah factory tier 4 many irradiated zombs and ferals mansion tier 3 ferals and a chance of irradiates zombies working stiff tools normal zombies with a chance of ferals and tier 1 buildings with normal zombies with a very slight chance of ferals I posted this because it can get annoying when you have to spend so much of your ammo on normal pois and don't have much of a reward depending on where you are if you see this joel could you please inform me if this is subject to change or not

thank you

Baseball bat parts.. for real???
How does that even work, are they not supposed to be made from one piece of wood or aluminium?
Its an abstraction. All T2 and T3 firearms are made with parts and all T3 melee weapons are made with parts. Imagine finding some old aluminum bats that were bent / broke, then cutting off the broken parts, then welding them all into one good one. Its much easier to think of ak47 parts, but we wanted a uniform design for crafting these items and parts had to come into play.

My hint giving ego has been badly bruised. I’m feeling too vulnerable to risk giving another clue.
There is obviously a clue in there! What is he saying?? Bruising… Ego...

A Sanity stat?

Some injures to the player that can only heal over time?

Bruising will show level of damage to the player?

:)

haha that is all mods really are, the parts system re-branded. I just hope you can find/loot a bat and use it. Then get mods to trick it out after. Read/use the schematic. Once you read it, you are now able to make a wood bat at a workbench. I want my "Zombieville Slugger" :) Make an Aluminum bat version a find only.
Mods are about 500x more in depth than the A16 parts offered. Some people imagine the past grander than it really was.

1) Build a space ship.

2) Fly to the New World Orders space station (That orbits earth EVERY 7 DAYS!).

3) Destroy the transmitter that causes blood moon hordes.

4) Find a way to get back home with the stations only nuclear generator.

5) Win! or build a city for survivors and lead a brave new world.

:)

Yes the realism argument, hence I modded those things you mentioned in the previous alphas and will do again this time around if they keep being silly about it. But the baseball bat being able to be crafted from broken baseball bats is just one step to far where it is no longer gameplay convenience anymore but just plain on ridicule.
Anyway it seems they have a system they want to introduce and cram everything into it for the sake of streamlining, I get that part. Just sometimes you also need some exceptions to keep things believable.
Sorry but at the end of the day it is the best design.

Allowing top tier weapons to be made from basic mats is bad, any jerk can mass produce them and suddenly T6 baseball bats have zero value, the entire team has them because one guy can make them from common mats.

This causes economy issues because you can sell them to traders for a small fortune. (A17 armor crafting and selling for example)

It makes finding lesser quality weapons completely worthless. Now you can scrap them to ____ parts and save them up for a better crafted version someday.

Now you get to sell them for a decent price, because they have unique rare ingredients.

Now you aren't grinding 100's of mechanical parts for everything. You look for more specific parts, and when you find them it feels rewarding instead of, oh I'll just go grind cars and shopping carts apart with my wrench and craft the entire world from that.

So a few melee weapons are made from parts, that is much more immersive and good for game play, looting, trading, economy than crafting all weapons from basic materials.

wait so why would a baseball bat have parts but a club doesn't? I can understand some Melle weapons having parts like swords or Spears but not baseball bats. heck you might as well make the club have parts also.
Since tier 2 tools are made from basic parts, it made sense that tier 2 melee parts were made from basic parts as well. Why would I go after iron club parts when I can make a fire axe from forged iron, wood, some leather and duct tape? It would put strength and tools at a huge advantage over the other attributes and their weapons.
