maybe you sell 2 or 3 times more because your community has spoken well of the game during the development of it, with youtube channels, on tweets and other media, it is a very ungrateful way to talk about the old players, those who supported you from the beginning.
No they all ran to steam and wrote negative reviews. They are trying to make us hostage to old legacy designs. Talk about ungrateful, they got 5000 hours of fun out of 24 dollars or less then have the gall to give us a bad review? I'd say best money I ever spent if I got that much fun out of it. I might not like the direction Bethesda is headed lately but I wouldn't go ♥♥♥♥ on Skyrim with a negative review after I got so much fun out of it.

Guys. They said they made some mistakes and are correcting them.
Since there is LITERALLY nothing they can do to appease y'all, why keep up the hate?

It's not productive.

I dislike a17 as much as the next guy, and I'm not liking the direction they went with it, but if they say "yeh we made some blunders but are correcting them" then wtf else can they do?!?

17.2 corrected some things 17 had wrong, so isn't it within the realm of possibility that 17.3 will be even better? That 18 will be better than that?

They heard the hate and are responding to it in /exactly/ the way we want.

...what else can they do?
Pretty much this. I've spent this entire build focusing on making the perk system a better class system so you don't NEED int, don't need any ONE attribute. Less jack of all trades. I've also been here every day listening to everyone and taking the dislikes into consideration on all the new designs. No incentive to loot? Fine, here's over 100 new cool books you can collect with collector perk unlocks if you read the entire set. Forced to buy int? Nope, find schematics to learn recipes. Don't like schematic ingredients? Fine they are gone, you learn the schematic forever now like old builds.

The list goes on and on. But reason to loot is in every design now. Gun parts are making a small return in a new exciting way. I mean I don't care if you like me, but lets stop acting like I don't care about you old players, the entire design has you in mind.

I assume it is an alpha and is open to changes and that were a problem I would not buy.
buy game - rust (ALPHA)- being a zombie post-apocalypse game and now there are no zombies.

and it is understood what madmole wants to say but many times they lose the forms and when someone releases an opinion it is automatically invalid and does not represent the community..

If what the community thinks does not represent the community then I do not understand anything. Lbd is a clear example of a massive demand from the large community and the developers do not try to reach an intermediate point between the current system of progression and LBD.
LBGrinding isn't a good fit for our game since we expanded into many attributes and specific perks and abilities. It cannot fit where we need to go. Lets not confuse the disgruntled old community with the happy new player base who isn't vocal. If you look at "recent reviews" they are virtually all positive with the exception of older players with lots of hours talking about the old days. If we went back to LBG we'd upset our current fans who outnumber the disgruntled by a large portion.

As I've said repeatedly I think most people will like where we are headed for A18. Its not one system, its the sum of its parts that make the whole in a game like this. The big foul we made was removing need to loot and having too many must have perks. Now you can do anything nearly without a ton of perks, but not do it as well.

Its human nature that happy people are not complaining. So there are lots of new players enjoying the game, with no complaints, so no need to come here and complain or talk about it. People who are unhappy are going to be making noise, so the truth is most players are really happy and not complaining but the LBG crowd is still upset and complaining so it appears the community wants something, but the community is actually happy with 17.2.

One more case in point. I started TRT about 5 years ago and went bald. I new about Finisteride, a drug that blocks DHT but I read about it and the forums said it killed your libido forever and that made me scared as hell. I tried saw palmetto and even topical rogain, but that was all BS. But fear kept me from trying finisteride.

As I looked in the mirror and was going to shave my head I decided to talk to someone about it. They said "This drug is used by millions of people. Most of them grew their hair back and were happy and moved on with their life. A very small percentage used it and had libido problems and freaked out, went on the internet talking about it, and created all this bad reputation for the drug.

The truth is millions of people got their hair back. So I took the gamble, 3 months into it now and my 5" bald spot in the back is now the size of an egg with hair covering most of it, libido is great and my prostrate must have shrunk too because I sleep all night without peeing now. I also hot flash less, from having normal hormone levels. So this drug was the best thing to happen to me in years. Had I listened to the disgrunted loudmouths instead of relying on facts, I'd have been totally bald by now and have more health issues.

Back to the game, we're doing everything we can to make everyone happy but we have to move forward not backwards. Once balanced we feel the new system will offer way more quality game play choices and avoid grindy loopholes LBG has.

To be fair as much as i cannot play alpha 17 because its boring i have had over 2000 hours in game so i have had my moneys worth along time ago
Yes, and maybe the future will suck you back in, maybe not. Some times when its done its done. We are attempting to bring back some of the hooks the past builds had. LBG is purely pshycological.

What IF, you earned more XP at the things you perked into? So then doing stuff you perk into gives you more reward, so you get xp for doing what you like to do , (obviously, you perked into it). This might reflect that feeling LBD had.

THe other way to go might be to raise the attribute by using its governed perks, but you buy the attribute if you are too impatient to wait for it like a16.

and I honestly would like A18 to come out as soon as possible.because the truth is that I do not play the A17 ...maybe that's why we're in such a hurry in the patches...

I wish the game experience of A16 in A18
Well thats not going to happen. Maybe elements though, like books and schematic finding and gun parts though will be the hooks for you.

You are, as usual, completely correct. It really doesn't do any good. I know that the game itself is being worked on. That doesn't bother me. It is the attitude displayed. "I" don't like learning by doing, so even though I admitted that I didn't play for a year during 16 I'll take it out. I know much of the playerbase liked it, but "I" don't. That, to me, is a poor attitude. Maybe "Hey guys, we did some surveys, and it appears most people dislike lbd." "Hey guys, we had a serious discussion, and even though we realize many liked lbd, we just don't think that it is going to fit with the vision of the game. Since ya'll had an idea of where the game was going, and we definitely moved to left field, here is what we were thinking. This is where we were going."But saying "Hey, we're working, but it's about what I want" is not, to me, the best approach. But hey, I'm just some random guy.
Are you referring to something I said? I don't recall saying I instead of we.

No matter the risk, players will still actively hunt zombies with this kind of XP, but nevermind that, it is something you will see for yourself in the future as well. It is good that you agree with this sentiment about diseases, but since a disease is mostly feared for its result which is death, and seeing how you reduced the effects of death since 17.0, how do you plan on implementing that risk when fighting zombies?
There are a million ways. You could...

Nerf XP gains when infected or on death debuff

Make antibiotics harder to find or expensive, ingredients hard to find.

Make infection spread to others, traders shoot on sight, your friends get infected, etc.

Maybe your gear is infected and needs burned/scrapped.

Leave infections when you die and respawn. Your not really dying, you are miraculously surviving. You STILL need antibiotics, but you awaken with a bit more stamina and food than when you died, etc.

@madmole
Is there any work beeing done on the current road situation, where we end up with a road going straight up or down depending on where your comming from ?
You can check yourself in A17.3, it has the new road and town system. I can't say if terrain generation handles it better in A18 though.

my fear and concern is the distancing of the community and the developers.
and as between these two entities is not dialogue but rather is imposed by the developers

and if you do not like you have the generic answers ramdom:

Roland-----> if you do not like make your own game (This is my favorite, I have a predilection for Roland)

Madmole---->If you do not like it look for a mod that suits your tastes.

other Devs---->currently Unity does not allow us to do it without overloading the cpu and gpu.

this is a bit the summary of this thread A17 / A18
We're making the same game we started making in 2013. No amount of feedback can time travel to 2012 and change that elevator pitch. We make the game our hearts desires, and we're blessed so many people like it. But the heart wants what it wants and you cannot sway that with words, sales, threats, or otherwise. I ask for input and you guys respond. Its great. But I think your idea is that the community runs the road map or something. Sorry but do the fans get to talk to the writers of the walking dead and say "you need to kill neagan because he's a piece of ♥♥♥♥". No you don't. They do the story they want to and hope people like it, as do we. Like them they listen to feedback and ratings and make adjustments though and try to learn from mistakes.

I understand how a game can lose its potency. Little things can pile up. Trust me they are coming back. The tension, little babies screaming in the background, need with impending doom. A17 was just too big and too much change. We'll get it though. Please be patient and have some faith. A13 was a dud for the same reason, a ton of changes, but in 14 we smashed it.

Yeah goodbye level-based dangers aka sleepers that depends on the players' gamestage. ;)
Man you need your head examined if you don't like the new POIs with sleepers. Those guys killed it.

This is the worst stance a gaming company or a dev can take. Believing that negative reviews are just bitter people trying to take you hostage?

I dont even have words for a statement like this. This is probably a good a time as any to pack it in and just say thanks for the memories. Its been an amazing ride. One I will never forget.

WHAAATTTT!!!! How dare you! I have thousands of games, been playing everything since 1970, have over 5000 hours in 7DTD (that should upset some people...) and I have complained at least a couple times that is the very best game I have ever played. And now you are completely dismissing ME (forget all those other happy types that have posted...). Well, I never.

Now, that I have vented 'most' of my 'frustrations', I'll just go back to playing 7D2D with some overhaul so that I can continue to learn more about mods/modding and develop what I hope is a better knowledge about how different modders handle different concepts. FOR THE SAME GAME. (How cool is that? I got at least 7 different major version for $15!)

And would you please go back to work and keep tweaking things the way you want so I can experience what you think are good things? As I only joined late A14, I suspect I am only going to get another crappy 5000 hours for my $15.

; - )

I'm soooo interested to see how you will shake this all up, out of everything aside RWG this is probably the change i'm awaiting the most. Glad you figured out a solution to the "Intelligence tree problem" !
I can't wait to play 5 characters, one for each attribute. Its kinda a16 inspired. you can find schematics or gear to craft what you want, but if you can't wait, hit the buy perk button. Each attribute governs the quality you can craft so no one guy is craft master.

So if you want a forge on day 1, buy advanced engineering with your starter perk points. If not scrounge up a blueprint and then make one. That philosophy is the new mantra, perks are semi optional and scrounging is heavily rewarded. The big thing is you don't need some of every attribute to feel reasonable, you should be pretty kickass specializing one attribute and having a few others mid tier.

I get it but keep it in the back of your head at least...

*dramatic voice again*

If it is something you believed in the past... it should be worth something...
My point was I skimmed and skipped. Can you summarize in one short paragraph? Was it a reason to fight the hordes?

No I'd go off on people and call them babies and whatnot. The landmines were to simulate that the wasteland was a warzone and landmines are a thing in warzones.
While on the subject, I want to put this onto your radar, in case it's an accident... there are landmines in the rivers in Navezgane... where you can't see them until you've entered the water (so taking a blind risk crossing the water).

I just want you to consider whether this is an oversight in the generation process, or a deliberate choice. The biomes I've seen them in (trees and green fields) do not otherwise contain any other landmines.
