Thats a shame really. Was really looking forward to seeing it expanded. Is it possible in the future to get it to somehow work with other classes? Like Campfire can't work with it currently. Could help modders make things like electric stoves and such.
The lack or information for modders is disconcerting. Sure the game is more moddable than basically any I can think of. First Class. But we have a million unknowns and need a little bit of love. I know everyone, literally, wants ravenhearst to be supported day 1 on gold of the game. It has a big following. Like crazy big following.

Modders are asking for crumbs Joel. Not the kitchen sink.

Isn't the entire library of what we paint with available to users? That is a crap load of textures.
Its really not. And there are so many more that could be added to extend painting. Thats what us modder LOVE the most, taking a work of art and extending the beauty of it.

Besides there were a LOT of A16 textures that people miss and want back to be able to paint again with. It would just be cool to be able to have some flexibility with it.

I entirely disagree with this. I think for an early access alpha they have gone above and beyond to document and help modders both in posts and on discords, mine included. They're very good to us imo.

I'm not talking about what is already available. I am talking about what isn't available. What quest objectives are actually something we can use? Is the xml `objective type=*` all we have in quests.xml? are there more? Just a small example. Please give us more information.

I"m not trying to dis the mod community at all. Maybe my previous post sounded like that. No one ever explained how Spere knew about xpath mods. Lots of people are confused how xpath even "became a thing" so yes. "Insider info" is an issue.

And its fine if I get blacklisted for asking this very question. I don't really care. I want answers to everything always because I care about the game and how it moves forward which is with modders.

I don't really care if folks decide to down vote my mod for simply asking basic questions. I expect basic responses from the devs proper and not just some "golden boy" modder who is friends with the devs. I'm not gonna take away any skills from anyone who mods but, why is the "official" xpath thread by a non-TFP dev?

Minus rep me all you want, its a question the non-inner circle has. Period.

Yongha is an absolute beast. I'll start posting more stuff, I don't think any stone is unturned as far as POI decorations now.
So u are saying I can expect a naked Burt Reynolds painting?

Yes there are a lot of unanswered questions and a lot more, "How exactly does this property work and what are valid keys" inquiries, but the fact is that we have xml exposed modding, first of all. Secondly some of the devs have gone so far as to leave notes in the various xml files to give us an idea how things should work. We even have an xml.txt file with a lot more info than most games have for modding a finished product.

Be patient, they are cognizant of modding needs and we will get our pound of flesh.

EDIT: Nobody is going to downrep you for asking a question and especially don't try to create a self fulfilling prophecy, it's transparent and straw-man-ish.

What are you talking about, downvotes or whatever? Golden boy modder? What? Be clear.

Sphereii took the initiative to document Xpath, because he's just that awesome. He and xyth were *already* documenting sdx, so it made sense to him to document xpath as well.

It was not insider information, it was initiative.

There is no inner circle, but cream does rise to the top.

He's humble, but Sphereii is probably the best programmer out of ALL of the modders, except maybe Hal and Morte, so it makes total sense they would speak to one another... Because they can speak on levels the rest of us plebes just simply wouldn't understand.

I've no clue where you got your tin foil hat from, but there is no conspiracy, and no inner circle; just like minded people getting together doing like minded things.

Nothing more.

Xpath isn't some mysterious knowledge, it's a real thing, that exists in the real world. Sphereii happens to know it (and many other things), so he volunteered to write a tutorial.

And look how much modding has taken off as a result. He's fracking Oz.

It's only "official" because it's correct, and because it has the name in the title. No pimp said "hey, write this".

Hal is listed in the credits, but is he tfp? No. He's a guy who took the initiative to do something no one else did, that helped the community and the game (block converter from a14 to a15 I think?).

No conspiracy. No "inside knowledge". Just modders, being proactive.

Alloc was a modder once. Did the dedicated server tools.

Gazz was a modder once. Did a huge amount of tutorials on block si.

You want insider info? Do something awesome.

Like they did.

I’m with you TSBX. however there is a serious void between what IS and what TFP officially says.

Down rep doesn’t hurt my feelings. I feel strongly about the state of “modding”.

My reputation is in my mod and in my words on the forum. Take them both for what you will and act accordingly;)

Why do you keep bringing up down repping? Did someone down rep you and it left a scar? :)

Nope, I looked; your two downvotes are unrelated to questions or your mods. So why keep bringing it up? Is T right?

What is the end point of 'what TFP says' where the void begins? You're being obtusely nebulous and the fact that you mention rep twice in two posts in the last hour doesn't lend to your 'not caring' about it.

I've posted what I think about things since 2014 and I only have one downvote in that time frame ( Which I would like to appeal because of Roland's trophy thread ;) ), while contesting many opinions/ideas/thoughts made by players, and in this very thread, MM himself.

Oh, and what DOES tfp officially say? So far, "modding support will come at gold or maybe dlc". That's it. The fact that we HAVE modding support now is called framework.

It would be super silly for a dev company to supporting modding pre-gold. Everything isn't done yet, and in case you haven't noticed, they like to change things. A lot. In very dramatic ways. =)

But, they have built a framework TO support modding, because it'd be super silly of them NOT to.

Nothing we do as modders is officially supported... I'd /love/ to make bug reports on the non-working buffs, quests, etc, but I know they'll go ignored. <Shrug>

Some are missing
As far as I can tell - at least last time I checked - there are a lot missing. At least in normal play. There should be more available in general as well even if they are not in the normal game (looking at my storage boxes again).

Yes. Yes they do... :pout: :bored:

Sdx used xpath way before tfp integrated it into the game. No insider knowledge tfp saw a good thing and went with it. Madmole continuously visited the sdx section a lot and was impressed.

If anything it was outsider knowledge lol

The walking deads story would be pretty boring if it was just Rick Grimes. The other people and interactions with them is what makes it interesting. Fallout 76 proved that a world without NPCs is horrible.
Actually I don't play that much game and don't follow much of those TV series either. I am limited with my imagination of NPC from past game, and I never like them in any game. I like NPC only if they don't control the flow of game. They help, make it harder, just don't stop us from getting a perk or skills or specialize weapon to fight. Even if it is done like that, it is what it is.

But yes, I do want (and I mean it really "want") to get those NPC after we get other things fixed. I really hate the zombie head shift on scoping or they miss bullet, or don't take damage.

I play with lowest graphics, not sure if that experience if from graphic setting, but when I see Kick's or kage video they doesn't seems to have that problem. But I do get that problem.

One more thing I want to see in Alpha 18, is that TFP instead of adding "option" in game setting start to build a Modules for things people complain, like if you don't want Zombie Dog, then TFP has official mod for it, rather than option dropdown. This way, game setup is simple and people get the feel of Mod.

Currently people are complain about Vanilla game, as though TFP see modding as major feature people think it is "not part of original " game. So by giving official mods they overcome this thinking.
