I just watched the video with Prime playing. Didn't lockpicking used to have a little mini-game with it?

Also, what's with those vultures on day 1, man? Were the risks tripled because there were 3 players? If not, I think if that was my first intro into the game, I'd be pretty frustrated at not being given a fair chance of survival so early in the game. A few more failed attempts like that and I think I'd be ready to give up on the game.

While I prefer the gameplay with guns, I'm not sure I like the idea of introducing them so early, as was demonstrated. Unless the loot was again tripled, you'd be swimming in ammo and guns in the first few hours and it bi-passes the need for bows, crossbows and spears.

But that's just my opinion off the demonstration. Still looking forward to giving it a try and hopefully it's just as promising as MM suggested.

Lockpicking has never before been in the game much less a mini game for it. They looked at creating a mini game for it early on when making their plans for it but it never came to be. A18 will be the first time lockpicking will be added to the game.

joel are the faster crafting found in books and perks? because from a15 or a16 i really miss the fast crafting speed
If you read further back it is tied to certain perks I.E Blacksmithing, master cooker and something else

But... if I understand it correctly there won't be any mini-game for lockpicking, it's just a skill check with a chance and that's it, right?

Just wondering why they took it out, considering I remember Madmole demonstrating the lockpicking mini-game at one stage.

It seemed like a bit of fun and a decent way to involve the player's skill during the process, rather than waiting for a timer to hopefully reach 0.

Hi Madmole, I and my coworkers have a doubt, are you planning to add spiders to the game? :spider: mutant spiders or zombie spiders that climb the walls without problem that would add a lot of problems during the orde, I already bought 7 days to die from my coworkers and bought 3 copies and with my friends we play between 7 to 8 people for Steam now all wait for the A18 and as you know the questions abound I answer all the questions that I know, but the one to add a spider to the game I don't know if it's in the plans, is it really a good idea to say?

Correct. No mini game or cut scene. Just a skill check.

You’ll have to find the video of that as proof because I don’t remember ever seeing a finished or even conceptual mini game ever being demonstrated. If he had one then it was only ever implemented in the dev editor because I never saw it in any development build. Zip lines made it to the dev build and I got to try out what they had briefly before it was scrapped but never a lockpicking mini game. If there’s a video of him demonstrating it then I’ll believe you :)

No. “Spiders” were the name of the zombies that climbed vertical surfaces. We had a mutant insect but it was removed.

Um, did you just get us new doors that can tie into the electrical grid? Glad you changed your review regardless, was actually hard to imagine how/why you'd actually had it as "not recommended" after reading how much praise you gave things in the positive section. Anyway, hope it got us some new fancy doorness.(and if those are already in madmole, then well played, you deserve the review upgrade regardless.)
My question, @Madmole: do you know if the turrets have been fixed? I had a blast making electrical systems in A16, but them wasting ammo on walls ended up causing me to avoid bothering with any of it throughout the entirety of A17, mainly for that reason, and I really want to get back into it. Also the lights, in regards to at least restoring the variety in A16, but whatabout POI lights? Hooking those up to the power system was a base milestone I dearly miss from A16.
Probably, I saw that demo'd in a meeting.

The speed with which you're now able to make changes like this is incredible. Nice work, team!
Yes we hired a lot of people but its paying off, we're cranking out so much stuff now and polishing old at the same time.

Why do people need heavy armor anyway? Just go in light on armor, heavy on weapons and tell those zombies to come and get some!

You know, I would try to get some from the trader but he forgot it. :)

Seriously?

If I knew the answer I wouldn't have asked.

Now your talking! ;)

That would be awesome!
Heavy armor, I dunno, for maybe the 90% damage resistance? Light armor doesn't give you near as much protection but has much better mobility. Depends on play style I guess.

by the way joel are you planning on keeping the books in? because if you are that would be wonderful they sound so great
Why would we remove something I put my soul into? The books are awesome, and here to stay. We did delete the old fugly perk books from a17 that were just filler content because we didn't have time to do the a18 books we have now.

Something about a circle and lining up a line or something inside a smaller spinning circle? I'm like 36% sure I've seen a video. But my memory is even worse than in the past, so ymmv.

Dear Madmole,

Unity showcased this year with their “Megacity” demo some amazing performance enhancements. Jaw-dropping for me.

Hence, the future is looking bright for 7d2d, if you are able using all the new Unity enhancements coming up. I am no expert. Just curious, since as far as I understand CPU performance is the biggest drag for you putting those dream features into reality. Cannot wait playing A18. 7 days to die is the best looking voxel game out there. Thanks for it. Cheers.
