I can’t speak for the Pimps but I’d say your chances of getting something nice is pretty good if you were to hang a stocking from your fireplace mantle or put a wooden shoe on your porch tonight. Well, my apartment doesn't have a fireplace so I grabbed a piece of wood from the yard and I'm now trying my hardest to wittle a wooden shoe before nightfall. lolWow. We need more use for other foods. We got all these recipes we can make, but most of them will never get used. once you're past like level 50 all you'll ever make is veg stew. gives good Food and Water. No need for any other foods really.
Even at a lower level most of the foods wont get made. some times ill craft stuff just to sell it, just because i have the materials, but when it comes to making food to eat, Veg Stew is the go to. it takes nothing at all to get a farm going, and once you've gotten one established, you'll never need to scavenge for food ever again, nor any meat. not that this is a bad thing, being self sufficient.
i would just like to see more use for some of the other stuff early on. I know personally I never made some foods early because i didn't want to sacrifice my precious glass jars to make food. it was better to just eat the raw food and chance getting sick, then 'waste' a jar on making food.
maybe add cans of water for making food? like baked potato or hard boiled egg, instead of needing a glass jar of water? i think that would help make it a little more appealing to make the simpler foods at low levels

One method to reduce mid-game stockpiling of food, without spoilage, would be to have several "ranks" of the same basic recepies.
Where each rank will require to use more input materials than the lower ranks, but gives only a slightly better buff.
Lets take the classic Bacon and Eggs:
rank #1: 5 meat and 2 eggs -> Bacon and Eggs (basic) +18 HP
rank #2: 10 meat and 4 eggs -> Bacon and Eggs (good) +22 HP , +1 minute some "good food buff"
rank #3: 20 meat and 8 eggs -> Bacon and Eggs (superb) +26 HP , +2 minutes some "good food buff"
rank #4: 40 meat and 16 eggs -> Bacon and Eggs (master cook) +28 HP , +5 minutes some "good food buff"
-> the trick is here not to have the input materials be converted directly into a proportional output, (eg higher ranks are less efficient)
its more the idea to offer a "luxurious" and wasteful alternative, that players would only choose in mid to late game.
It would then get rid of the overstock (that would be useless otherwise), mainly because its more convenient for the player to just craft the higher ranks foods.
Players with little stock can still create the very efficient basic rank foods.

I remember subplanting the mind virus of what the workbench would be in madmoles head years ago. For the longest time it was exactly what I envisioned it to be. Though the combining things together feature is gone since its obsolete now. Its all about things that TFP can reasonably accomplish and that the game needed desperately.Wow. Id love more npcs in general and it seems like theyre working on that. Though who knows how its going to turn out since the games fell off the radar again as an unoptimized mess in the eyes of the public at large. You might protest and say the game runs fine for you but performance across the board has gotten much worse and I have to make resolution down to almost as low as it can go just to get 'stable' frame rate of like 20.

Playin' thru the pain ... All this bitchin' and moanin' is not getting anybody, anywhere ... I'm 'old', but not in playing time ... Only been playing for about 4 months now, but I can't think of any other game that I've owned that gives me so much fun and satisfaction every time I play ... Yes, I have mods loaded that allow me to hit the ground running, every time I get froze out to desktop ... I don't want no company, I just want to sneak around, build me a little F.O.P. somewhere and kill the ornery bastards and their doggie buddies when I can ... If that makes me a 'incomplete' player, then so be it ... It's a rant, yeah, but a nice one ... :loyal:

Thats the point: it does not need to be great, just better than the basic version. People are lazy and would rather have a bit higher value in the output item. If the stock is overflowing anyhow, the higher resource cost does not matter much anymore. On the plus side, there is always a reason to use up your stockpile. Its decadent luxury people strive for.
Or in other words: the game should always offer a reasonable resource sink at any stage of the game.
